It was the same in 2k20, maybe even earlier

This is why I stopped playing video games online. I'm in my mid 30s, how am I suppose to compete with kids and teenagers that are able to put in way more time than me. Nah, Im good, Ill stick to playing games offline at my own pace.

Well....yeah? I mean, it's been like that for a few years now and it sucks for you guys. I remember when Erick Boenisch and Leftos used to post blogs about MyLeague. When was the last time do you recall a blog from either.

Instead we get blogs about badges and builds for online. In fact I don't even know any youtuber that talks about myleague. If you search YouTube now this is the hot topic and thats what 2k wants. Us offline guys are now dinosaurs. Its unfortunate but the CoD money tactic creeped up on some of my favorite games.

I'm excited to almost maybe create the type of player I want to make. An actual LeBron build? But I just know there's always a catch to this.

The fact they felt the LeBron and AD pick & roll was good enough to show off the way that defense played in a blog about improved AI tells me this next-gen version will be a huge disappointment. Especially once you get pass the graphics.

Now that Czar has his hands on the defensive side of the AI as well i think we will see some big improvement s in 2-3 years

The first three blogs are about gameplay, they haven't mentioned any game modes yet.

Am I the only one that saw the same bad rotations in the 5 second clip? No switch with Duncan and Crowder and Bam running across the lane late?

I was hoping for next gen they finally would get rid of the badges, but no...it's such a gimmick for the most part. Guess we have to wait until 2k22 to see if they really are ready to make revolutionary changes. Right now, sounds like much of the same and with the greedy tactics of paying twice for pretty much the same game, using Kobe's image to make people collect these physical versions, the unskippable ads, I'm almost done with 2k as a whole. Live or someone needs to come back to challenge them or just get a new NBA Street/ Jam type game. Until then, I'll stick with Playgrounds.

If the AI is so improved would'nt Crowder pick up bron after seeing his teammate get picked??
That P&R clip was horrendous & the exact type of low man defense we’ve been complaining about for years.

There are 2-3 “new” badges that are simply renamed from the current gen version. We lost a few badges due to a popularity contest that were important badges for offline NBA AI gameplay (Moving Truck, Fancy Footwork, Hot Start).

They added 4 Takeover boosting badges (Heat Seeker, Highlight Film, Hot Shot, Hot Stopper) which are the absolute worst thing to ever exist in this series (how close to NBA Jam are we now?). They even doubled down on admitting that Takeover is a priority system and has been expanded upon with locked animations. Now we need to create scenarios for players to be “on fire” to get animations to trigger?

The other blogs had some pros & cons. This one was disheartening to read all around aside from minor AI fixes that read more like a bug report than new features. I’m sure it was a tough year to release two games so I’ll hold out for 2K22 and hope that gives them time to build for next-gen.

It’s an easy business decision to focus changes on MyCareer/MyPlayer so it’s not a surprise what aspects of the game get added focus each year.

I didn't like when they attached ratings to badges. It's one thing to grind for badges. But, it's another thing to grind for badges to upgrade ratings. It was frustrating when perimeter defensive ratings was attached to Lockdown badge. Or when we had to grind just to get Free Throw up within Free Throw Ace. Then when ratings are tied to badges, I don't think it effects OVR.

It makes you think how is only having Post Control impact how you set rating caps for bigs. What if you set Post Control to 95, does that significantly raise your potential overall and limit what else you can do. If you don't touch Post Control at all, does that impact your OVR?. I still feel MyPlayer is geared towards Perimeter and Wing Players. Where Big men have a higher floor and but a lower ceiling. Whereas Perimeter and Wing players have a low floor and higher ceiling. I feel if you are going to be a PF/C you are going to have to stick a specialized role or limit your potential. I feel it is easier to be an all around player with a PG-SF. I say that because for PF and Centers some ratings have a higher impact for your player as opposed to a PG-SF.
