You need to be part of the Insiders program. However if you aren't, I recommend waiting for the public update coming before the month is over.

Xankazo do you know for sure if the public update is coming before the month is over? I just had another freeze when I tried to pull up the "pause" menu while in the City. I wanted to check something out. I have found that if I fast travel back to my apartment and go inside before trying to access it, the game may not freeze. Although sometimes when it's destined to freeze it will do it while standing at my apartment door.

Quick update.



I did the update and turned off the console a couple hours ago because I had some other things to do. Just now started the console and the game. Loaded My Career and it took a few minutes for it to actually load. I thought it was froze because it normally doesn't take that long.

Well that was quick. Started moving around in the City. Went to Marvin's record store to do the trivia questions. Completed the questions and left. Skating up the street on my skateboard and the game froze. Then after about 15 seconds it crashed to the console dashboard.


There goes my confidence in the issue being resolved.

It's actually worse now. Like WTF. I was actually able to play more without the issue happening this fast and sometimes not at all. Just loaded back into My Career and it took a few more minutes and then seemed like it was going to crash again but it ended up going black screen for several seconds and then loaded into the city.


This is worse for me. I wish I could revert to the previous update now.

Guys the only solution is PS5

Sell/Turn back your Xbox asap

On PS5 i have 0 issues, you will enjoy its new pad too, with voice communication built in.

You want to wait for 2k23 ?? what if it will also cause the same problems to huge batch of consoles ?? waste of time imo

If you care a lot about Nba next gen it is the way to go

I started to get a PS5 since I already have a PS4. It would seem like the logical thing to do. Never had issues with my PS4. But I've always switched back and forth to whatever console I thought had the better specs. I'm not what people would consider a fanboy of either console. And I've never been in a financial position to get both or all of the new consoles at once at launch.

Good to hear you aren't having issues on PS5. Consider yourself lucky and very lucky that you chose PS5.

The PS5 had 2K shut down issues of its own. Don't know if there is a thread here on OS, but there have been plenty on reddit, so the PS5 is not immune.

Anyways, I haven't had a single shut down since I got a new Xbox from MS.

The issue seems to be fixed after the last update. I hope it never reoccurs.

I know this thread is pretty much fading out but I wanted to update it with my last experience over the past days since my last post. It may or may not help someone else.


I still had crashes to my Series X after the Microsoft update during My Career by simply moving around the City. It didn't shutdown the console but it would crash to the console dashboard. It would also freeze and cause me to have to restart the game. I decided to put in a ticket with Microsoft to have my console repaired. And I still might send it in.


But after I put in the ticket, which was Monday, I researched the console reset instructions. I ended up resetting my console with the option to keep games and apps instead of wiping everything. Well since then I haven't had any problems with the game. I even walk a few steps in the City and randomly hit the menu button just to see if the game will freeze because that used to be a killer. Pulling up the menu while moving in the City was a death sentence. I literally hit the menu button a lot now just to test it every time I play in My Career. That's just how bad it was.


Anyway, I hope this helps someone if they still have an issue because I did until I reset the console. Like I said, I still may send mine in for a checkup/repair.

Well that didn't last long. Just now, the game crashed to the console dashboard four times and it froze three other times. This was in My Career AGAIN. I'm sending my console in tomorrow. I'm just tired of this. If it comes back from Microsoft and still crashes with NBA 2K22, it won't be going in my console anymore and will be traded to Game Stop or sold to somebody.


Funny thing is, we played Madden 22 online on the console all weekend and didn't have one crash, one freeze, and no lag at all. Played several other games too. I'm disappointed in this version of NBA 2K. It has been nothing but problems for me.
