Well that sucks. My console was just delivered today to the El Paso location. Crossing my fingers.

I didn't have the console shut down and wouldn't turn on option. Went with the closest thing i found. Maybe whatever they send back fixes it. If not, I guess it's no next gen sports games for me. I'll just sell the damn thing if it's still an issue.

Has any Xbox Insiders tried out the newest OS version 211018-1230? And had it stop the shut down issues?

This just showed up within the beta tier for me about 2-3 days ago within the Xbox Insiders app, and I just installed it to give it a go.

Alternatively, has anyone who shipped their Xbox Series X in to Microsoft actually received one back that stopped the shut down issues?

I had tried the latest OS before I sent my off, and the shutdown actually happened quicker. Thus far, everyone (minus one person) in this thread who sent off their consoles got replacement consoles and haven't had any problems since.

I'm in the same boat. I sent mine yesterday from Denmark to Germany and with the low stock that we have in Europe, I'm probably receiving the same unit back. Let's see what happens.

My Xbox came back from Germany 2 days ago. I was expecting nothing since one of the guys from my online league sent his and played 3 games fine. After the forth game, it started shutting down.

I have played 5 online games so far with no shutdowns.
I noticed that the console has the same serial number, but the network device ID, console ID and Global device ID are different, so I'm not sure if it's the same machine or not.
The thing is that it's working and I hope it keeps working.

Several league members from this online league I play, sold their series X to buy a series S to be able to play the league.

Also, does everyone else notice that the majority of people on Xbox next gen that you play with in Rec have horrible average grades? Their skill when playing is fine and their averages should still be an A or B rating, but instead they are F or D!

Wondering if this shut down issue is happening to a much larger number of people, but most folks aren't complaining or posting on forums etc about it. And the "hardcore" players might only play 3v3. 2v2 and not care about Rec mode.

I haven't gotten my console back yet, but I do know that latest OS beta build didn't fix the problem

Mine is scheduled to arrive from El Paso tomorrow. I don't feel great about it, but hopefully it'll be fixed. I suppose we'll see.

Maybe because of the new update but my Console is shutting off more than ever now. Almost every couple of games. After the 4th time I just said enough is enough and am done with it. POS quality control. It's pathetic that Microsoft is having another launch console like this. I am done supporting them.

This has to be the worst 2k game ever. My console has shutdown for the first time playing this game. I am SO UPSET WITH THIS CRAP!!!! On top of the glitches and broken Quests rewards I have experienced, now I have to experience a crash. My first shutdown ever on my console.


It happened as I was running through the City trying to complete the "Unlock Spawn Location" Quests. I almost completed it. It takes 26.2 Miles and I was at 25.93 Miles and my console shutdown. Now that I have restarted it and loaded the game it took me back to 23.33 Miles. THIS GAME IS SO DISAPPOINTING!!!!! AND THEY DON'T CARE!!!


I apologize for the all caps and venting the way that I am but this is upsetting to have a two month owned console shutdown for the first time playing a game that is a Triple A title.

And anytime I see reflections in the windows like in those images I know that I have to restart the game. Any progress up to that point is gone. It doesn't crash but it lets me know that I have lost connection somehow. Today was the first shutdown. These things happen constantly while playing. I have to restart several times a session. I'm about to be done with this game. I should've followed my first mind and stuck with Playstation. Absolutely no problems with my PS4 Slim at anytime during ownership.

Received my Series X back from El Paso today. Installing 2k now. Will update later to see if it's fixed. Someone on Reddit who recently received theirs from El Paso said it still crashed a couple of hours in, so I'm expecting much of the same, sadly.




For who may be wondering, there is nothing in the box to suggest anything was changed. When my Series X booted up for the first time it still connected to my old Xbox One controller like it regularly would.

I recorded a video of my crash and sent it to 2ksupport. They didn't respond to me for almost two weeks. I started emailing them asking for a response because we are coming up on my warranty expiring. They sent me back this:
