No defensive three seconds is a rule I would change in a heartbeat. I miss seeing bigs campIng in the paint all game. It makes scoring a challenge than what we are seeing now.

I am glade we are getting the normal 82 games back this year sucked not getting that the last 2 years because of covid but yet hate the play in game and don't know why they think its a good idea.

Probably wouldn’t change how the AI interacts since they can code them to stick to you and anticipate what you’re about to do as hand checking allows in real life, but it would be a great visual and is another rule stupidly removed to coddle players into scoring easily and not feeling the effects of truly physical ball.
Hand checking I think should come back in real life. The rules have went to far to favor the offensive like that in football to with some rules. It would be hard to like add hand checking into the game with a update though when it comes to how guys would defend. Its interesting when people compare players now days because hand hacking and not having it has made it easier to score and shot a high fg% but at the same time the extra 3 pointers hurts fg % and even though pace of play is faster now then it was in the like 90s its still not has fast has it was in like the 80s. Also when it comes to players being able to score like 20 or 25 PPG etc I can remember in the 90s or even like early 2000's when the leader would play like 40-41 minutes a game now its like 36-37 meaning a few less chances to score. So yeah its hard to compare players at different times.

All facts. Games were soo much more intimidating back then. You can imagine the fear players felt as they had to really go to battle. I know from playing ball, I’ll take a game where nobody can touch me and paint is wide open ANYDAY over some real physical D, because it makes the game easier and more casual, less intimidating on the offensive side. Which is the problem right there. Games should be tough and competition should be intimidating. Right now it coddles players. Physicality made for intense games. Not the same vibe at all now.

I wish they’d bring it back too. In my opinion, though eras can’t be compared, there’s no way to tell what a player is TRULY capable of if they are coddled into open paint and hands off defense. It’s just easy. Anyone who plays knows it’s simply way easier to score. Now dudes play lower load levels and play games with less physical contact than golf yet still get record setting injuries. It’s a cultural problem the NBA is at fault for.

Softer rules already started before it and after MJ retired so the league could enable easier scoring to pursue and market their “next MJ” but it hit a culmination with overdone PR apologies for malice at the palace which changed the game. They shouldn’t have changed the league due to one incident that was the fans fault to begin with. Let these guys compete intensely. That’s what true competition is about. Not goofily flopping because air hit you.

I remember playing. I’m pressing the heck out the cpu trying to get a 8 sec violation. The clock gets to 16. I’m like hell yeah!!!! But it was no whistle. I was like wtf 2k on that glitch ish. I go to settings during the game to see if it’s on. Could not find out. I curse 2k out so bad. Finished the game. Played more games and just got used to the backcourt not being called. I was bored one day so I look through all my team stats in the franchise. Low and behold I came across rule changes. Ish was changed to 12 seconds lol I was floored. I was impressed.
