this game can go straight h*ll!

i have NEVER been so frustrated playing this game. 2k21 took me a few weeks to understand the timing and rhythm and ‘basketball’ the game had to offer. once i got the timing, admittedly, it was probably too easy to simply crossover with Trae Young and get layups all game or dish it for an open 3, but the game played well enough and made sense. if anything, 2k games have always played a little slow, maybe.

so, this year, WTF??!! i’m actually happy they sped it up a little, but now it feels IMPOSSIBLE to juke anyone and get open shots. and, EVERY SINGLE GAME, there is a nice 5-10 min stretch in the 3rd qtr where EVERY SINGLE SHOT is a miss, or is blocked, INCLUDING OPEN DUNKS!!!!

and, will the ref EVER call a foul on the cpu???!!! but, for me, when i play solid D and contest a shot, that guy blows his whistle, anyway.

just got beat by 60, lol, by the Jazz, and the whole game was just nonsense. i’m going to continue to grind at it to get better, but could this game possibly be more different than 21?

the cpu D is just insane, and my teammates just don’t move to ‘good’ spots to even pass it. i will say, that i enjoy the D being tougher, and i block more shots than i should, but man, oh man, to have the other team walk up the court, make a couple passes, see my AI teammates get out of position for no reason, and THREE!!! while on O, i can run all over the place, pass, etc, and no one is open and simply miss shot after shot for like an entire qtr!!!! lol.

ugghhh. just had to vent. this game is truly beyond frustrating for me right now. and, i have actually won a couple games against the cpu, so it’s not always getting blown out. but, wow, i just don’t get how to ‘move properly,’ maybe, and get my teammates to move properly. whereas, in 21, i knew where everyone was going to move and whatnot. and, the pure simplicity of giving one move here or there that simply doesn’t work anymore is killing my game. i almost threw the controller through the tv today, and i just can’t let that happen. lol[emoji35][emoji35][emoji2959]

Re: this game can go straight h*ll!

I second this feeling about 2K22. This will be my last 2K and I have quit once before for numerous years. I don't even want another 2K in my place of residence anymore. The "Next Gen" version of the game is just not good and isn't well put together. It's one of the worst games ever made.

Today a 2XP event is going on in REC and there is a constant popup reminder after exiting a venue like Old Gym, your apartment, REC, etc. And the My Career Pause Menu is even worse. They both freeze the screen for a brief moment and make the game almost crash. But if you go inside your apartment and hit the My Career Pause Menu it pops up and closes out fast with no issues.

Every time an event happens, the server connection errors start to get crazy. The City is a laggy, boring mess. 2K should be ashamed for online input delay and server issues that have plagued the game for years. I hate that I got sucked into buying this game and wasting time on it. I have also seen many WWE 2K22 players complaining about server issues. Ridiculous.

And don't get me started on the cheesy online My Career game play. It's like 2v2, 3v3, and 5v5 NBA Jams on steroids. They can shove this (******) in dedicated dumpster. A big one.

If you're playing vs cpu. Lower the difficulty, adjust sliders, trade for better players. So simpo

Devs have said on stream that MyCAREER is "supposed" to be cheesy, it's "what that community wants". A.k.a., make the noobs / kids happy. I don't agree that Rec or Pro-Am is "supposed" to be arcade like they said.

Unfortunately true. At one time the game was designed more for offline and couch H2H for basketball fans. Once solely online play became a reality, 2K basically switched their focus from the original community (mostly sports fans) to a community built around the online gamer demographic (i.e. people who enjoy CoD,Fortnite, etc.) that don't necessarily care too much about basketball but rather about "flexing on kids online". This was a business decision because they realized they could make more money on a full priced game+a microtransaction driven online economy than just selling copies of the game.

i don’t want to go crazy with sliders. i appreciate the fact that this game has a million of them, so u can tweak certain specific things. but, in some ways, having too many is also a burden in determining exactly what will change, regardless of the slider’s ‘name.’.

that being said, i actually dropped difficulty from superstar to all-star, and the game is playing better. i’ve won a few more games, now, and i’ve adjusted the timing of some moves that has simply changed from 21 to 22, and i’m understanding some set plays in the Hawks offense this year. i’ve adjusted to the new shot meter, too. that was actually another pain point for me. it’s actually better than 21, imo, but it took me several games to nail down 3 ball timing. now, i’m hitting several 3s with Collins, and even some with Trae Young and his awful release. lol. i barely hit any 3s with him in 21 because his release is so quick. instead, he was the Human Layup Machine for me. lol.

but, anyways, playing on all-star still feels difficult enough, and the overall play is better. i’m getting used to the ‘new’ animations of basically walking into your defender back n forth and hitting the shot button when u would in real life as u gain a slight body advantage over the defender. this quite simply wasn’t in 21, for me at least. when u bumped into a defender, it was over. u couldn’t move forward. but, in 22, u can kind of wiggle the defender all the way to the basket and then take a shot at the right time, or take advantage of a height mismatch. this may be more realistic, actually, and after playing several games on all-star, i’m enjoying the actual ‘basketball’ i’m seeing and the D is much improved.

i’d like to move back to superstar, cause that’s where i was in 21, but i think i’ll hold off for awhile so as to not to completely aggravate myself. lol.

Not gonna lie I laughed out loud when I read this part.

But if you're playing vs CPU adjusting the sliders to your preference is a must.

This game is fun in that it's real easy if your team is better than the other team but a nightmare if they are not. As a Nets fan I can tell you this game is too easy with a fully healthy Nets vs the CPU even on the hardest difficulty with CPU awareness sliders bumped up.

That said when I play summer league with my benchwarmers and free agent scrubs I get humbled fast.

3 slider realism tips I'll give to you is to take foul sliders for you and CPU and bump them all up to 100, lower block shots ability down to like 30 for you and cpu, and keep the CPU's offensive and defensive awareness as high as you can stomach to keep things challenging once you figure out how to win.

Thanks. I didn't know they said MyCareer is supposed to be cheesy. Now I definitely will be staying away from future 2K "Simulation" products.

And if the mode is supposed to be cheesy, they sure as hell didn't distribute the cheese to all player models and builds. It seems they gave the Kraft and Velveeta to the small to medium guards and other wing players. They can cheese it from three, dribble spam and speed boost and stop on a dime, rim run and dunk on several defenders, and steal the hell out of the ball anytime.

Big builds move like snails and can't make a layup or close shot right at the rim if a defender sneezes on them. They get blocked by smaller players. They move like clumsy doofuses and when the defender stops their dribble they act like they stepped on a got damn nail. I think Bigs need to be upgraded to Kraft and Velveeta because the store brand cheese isn't good enough for them.

Let Bigs have good cheese too.

u know what’s funny, too, now - i lowered difficulty to all-star and have won more games than lost now. but, specifically, i played as my Hawks vs Thunder. holy cow, does that team STINK! lol. i was up 78 to 29 in the first half. i play full 12 min qtrs. i ended up crushing them like 148 to 80 or something ridiculous. so, NOW, i can beat a team by 60. and, in an amazing coincidence, the hawks just KILLED the Thunder last night by similar scores. or, at least, the first half was ridiculous and then scrubs kick in. but, that similarity to real life is interesting and shows how the game is actually doing a good job mimicking bad vs good players/teams. i thought this meant i was going to whoop everyone in all-star, but i just lost to a good team and specifically had issue with their PG who was locking Trae up pretty good.

honestly, now that i’ve played a few more games on all-star, i’m really liking this game, and consider it to be the most realistic game to date. u just have to adjust to those nuances of understanding when u get that ‘shoulder rub’ from a defender and whether or not u have the angle to just shoot and get a layup or possibly fouled and just overall understanding the animations that will trigger. the D is so much more realistic and u have to read where the double is coming from on simple kick outs for 3 ball shots from your perimeter players.

overall, i def like the speed of the players and animations. as much as i love 2k games, in general (including nfl 2k5 back in the day), the nba 2k series has always played just a little slow as it seems like u have to wait on animations to trigger fully. but, 2k22 has much more of an instant twitchy response that is just more responsive and instantaneous, in general, that i’m enjoying that more than 21 while maintaining pretty good animations overall.

i still can’t steal well without fouling, but i’m blocking shots all the time! lol. which is crazy, because, in 21, those were all fouls as well.

Tbh I appreciate this post because a lot of guys come to the forums and make statements that’s not very true for everyone or the game, struggling with areas of gameplay is something people should be self aware of. Another thing is guys simply can’t let go of not playing at the highest difficulty but seeing how you lowered the difficulty and you’re now enjoying the game. I feel like this could be the experience for many others on here but they’ll never play on a realistic difficulty. Hall of fame and superstar they’re meant to be difficult and they’re not settings to truly judge where the game is, all star has always been the difficulty that the game is meant to be played on but people don’t use it. So I just thought it was cool, that you’re super honest and humble about ya experience and your opinion changed as you got better, again something I feel a lot of posters on here could see as an example

no offense but playing against cpu is so easy.. learn to call out plays. cpus are dumb ai who gets exposed from plays like punch loop 25. or even go 5 out plays then aim your left stick for the player who you think can easily blow by their cpu opponent just cheese spam hold triangle (playstation) hold y (xbox) to command your teammate to run toward the post.

Yep, I won't name names, but the fact that he basically put up the white flag for simulation "because it's mycareer" is proof 2K isn't even trying to make it realistic. 100% disagree with that premise too that because it's mycareer, it's "supposed" to not be sim.
