If you are on Xbox and have purchased this game but are not a fan, please feel free to try my roster (in the works) before you officially give up haha...

Re: this game can go straight h*ll!

I'm a new player on PC current gen. I finally found a nice slider set and tendency mix to have a decent league, but nothing I try properly deals with the lack of fouls issue, particularly for the CPU. If you raise the foul and hard foul tendencies too high it destroys the sim stats and you still rarely see bonus situations and still have an overall lack of FTs. Keep them at default you will never see a hard/flagrant foul and even less fouls are called during played games.

It's a shame because as a new player I don't have all of the baggage that comes with playing the older games that are possibly better or worse. All of my judgements are based on this one NBA game and it seems to me the devs aren't really concerned with simulation ball at all, but this is the issue with almost all sports games since everything is leaning towards pay to win and fantasy sports.

I'm glad I caught it on sale for like 19.99, but I think I'll just play this causally and skip the future releases and stick with my strategy games on PC.

I hate that 2k devs stop talking after release
They becoming like EA in that regard
It's like our voice doesn't matter anymore

Once you really think about next Gen other than graphics is there really a big difference between current gen&Next Gen?

2k gotten to the point that they need to take a year off and refresh but we all know they got to get a quick bag 💰

Re: this game can go straight h*ll!

Bought this game on XBox One and I'm relatively certain I've never stopped playing a 2K as soon as I did this one. Considering how many folks have enjoyed the game, I've accepted the problem is likely just me. But I just couldn't get to a point where it felt like I could play consistently realistic basketball against the CPU and I guess I didn't have the willpower to trial & error through sliders this year.

Above all else, I can't shake the feeling that 2K has more or less become what NBA Live would have become if they hadn't self-imploded. I know there's simulation basketball still in there somewhere, but the monetization and online-emphasis are legitimate invasive species for simulation fans these days. Each time I'd fire up 2K22 I'd get multiple reminders that this game isn't being made for me anymore.

Just how it goes, I guess.

I started having a growing dissatisfaction with the series with 2k18. 2k19 was better but I traded 2k20 back in well before 2k21 came out, I never ever thought I would've done that, I've always kept my 2k's. I skipped 2k21 altogether.

I've debated 2k22 since it's release. I've almost pulled the trigger twice but haven't. I actually went to go pick up The Show 22 today and may have picked up 2k22 as well...but it went back up to 39.99 and I just don't feel like paying that. If it weren't for some of the user created rosters, it wouldn't even be on my radar.

My experience is similar, to sum it up:

From 2k11 through 2k15 I played multiple seasons of My Career on 12 minute quarters. Had alot of fun.

2K16 I played through one season because work was offering unlimited OT that year.

2K17 thru 2K19 I began to notice more each year that the game wasn't what it used to be, played My Career up to the playoffs on 10 minute quarters.

2K20 was when I really felt 2K was no longer a game I enjoyed. I think I only made it to the All Star Break.

I decided not to buy 2K21 but it was given to me as an Xmas gift so I played a small bit for fun. Made it to January in My Career, hated it the whole way.

I have not bought a 2K22 (Though I did buy 2K14 on PC which I play with mods) and I don't plan to buy any future 2K games. The series is no longer the basketball experience I am looking for; I'll spend my money on other things I enjoy more instead.

Re: this game can go straight h*ll!

lol. it’s truly funny now that i’m the one who started the thread, and i’m actually enjoying the game quite a bit more now. this game is actually quite different from 21 in terms of gameplay, imo. the speed of the animations is up and the response from the controller input is also up. these are both good things, imo.

for those people not getting fouls called on the AI. I’ve sort of figured this out to a degree. it’s the animation that gets triggered that you’ve got to look for. if u drive to the hoop freely, and a defender goes for a shot block, chances are no foul will be called regardless the outcome. however, if you’re driving and u get that shoulder rub, but are able to continue to the hoop and attempt a layup, chances are u will get a foul called. this isn’t the best or most realistic way for a bball game to do these things, but it is how it works. and, again, this is kind of different than 21. in 21, u didn’t HAVE to get the shoulder rub. but, in 22, u really do. u just get by the defender, he’s physically ‘attached’ to you, body to body, and when u go up, a foul will often be called. it’s almost forcing u to ‘want’ the foul by purposely bodying the defender and then shooting at the appropriate moment so that u get your shot off and he fouls u.

so, i don’t know. it’s actually playing some realistic bball for me, now. lol. however, there are still those momentum moments that feel like total BS where i can’t score for 5+ mins, no matter the player, the dunk, the open 3, the layup, etc. the game just decides that i cannot sink a bucket. but, when that happens, u really have to suck it up and call a pick or play or something and try to get a dunk to clear out the funk. lol.

I feel like this could be the experience for many others on here but they’ll never play on a realistic difficulty. Drawing shooting fouls for the USER is not as big an issue as long as defensive contact sliders are close to max and fouls are maxed out. I've tried a lot of things to help the CPU in this area. Setting my defense to play physical. Allowing the CPU to guard the player on ball hoping for more foul animations. Nothing works. What I did notice with this game, at least current gen, is the CPU seems to always take the path of least resistance, so they rarely go to the hoop and look for contact the way real NBA players like Joel Embiid and Trae Young do. That is the problem. I've noticed playing around with the sliders if you max out all of the USER defensive sliders the CPU will rarely take a contested shot inside where they will have the best chance to get a call. 2K devs are gonna have to fix how the CPU approaches offense or change how fouls are called. IDK I'm not a developer, but it didn't take me long to figure out what the issue seems to be for the CPU.

Combine this with the lack of off ball fouls overall and it all adds up to an immersion killing situation. If the devs could just fix this I could really dive in and have some fun.

I agree with you about offense stalling. Yeah sometimes you just have to run that pick and roll to get some easy buckets. I think this is great because it's something we see in every NBA game. I notice the CPU doing it as well.

I just think the important thing here is there needs to be more variance in the sliders. If foul slider goes up to 100, then 100 should mean there is a foul on every play. 0 should mean there is never fouls called.

As a sim head, I get frustrated when they don't allow us to 'fix' the game to our liking.

I agree, even though you can draw shooting fouls sometimes by leaning into the ai on jump shots it's the ai that cannot draw jump shooting fouls on you. . . even with foul sliders and ALL player foul tendencies maxed I've NEVER seen 10+ FTA's for ai or user. NEVER are fouls called on dunk attempts or layups either. . .

As you've commented, if foul sliders and player foul tendencies are maxed BOTH teams should be in the penalty the entire game, BOTH teams should be fouling eat other immediately after tip-off lol, especially when playing offline. . . WHY are fouls or the LACK of fouls in offline play even a thing. . . when will this BS meta change for offline players change so we can do what we want hell. . . I haven't even touched on the LACK of flagrant fouls [emoji848]
