For those wanting era accurate music, the video 2k mentions each era the menu will look different and have era specific music! 🤘🏼

So what about CPU trades, signings and draft picks?
Will it align with what happened in real-life?
Or will you just have a historic fantasy roster by year 4 or 5?

The part about going over tons of game footage is very hard to believe when there are current players still wearing PG1s (Myles Turner) and have the wrong shoe brand overall (DPOY Marcus Smart) or gear from the Disney bubble (Jaylen Brown). This is what you get when there are no more good ideas.
Not sure how this mode and outdated gear correlate to no more good ideas. Seems like the overwhelming consensus is that not only is this mode a great idea, it's one of the best idea we have seen from 2K and any sports game in a long while.

I doubt anyone will argue against your point about gear and player likeness needing improvements and more attention to detail, but that really has nothing to do with good or bad ideas (or this mode) That's just on the art department, and whoever manages them, to focus on things like shoes and player gear.

And what do you mean an excuse to keep outdated shoes in the game? I don't think shoes get outdated, they just become retro or classics. The more shoes in the game the better IMO (and I'm not even a sneakerhead that's a stickler for those things).

This is definitely a mic drop announcement and extremely ambitious and impressive. The era specific flourishes are amazing to think about and the depth of courts, logos, jerseys and players is like potentially the nuclear culmination of the classic teams content that they have been building since 2k11. This potentially opens the floodgates to nearly any classic team you could want. I truly hope they find a way for players appearances to correspond with the time period represented. Lebron in particular, I definitely would love a rookie Bron with less tattoos a hairline and no beard, in no way shape or form should 2004 LeBron be his 38 year old bearded year 20 player model. As someone has suggested maybe giving us the same appearance options as they do with current player models.

This news brought me out of my cave. May be time for a next gen console.

As an ocd addict in regards to courts, arenas, and jerseys and colors, I am prepared to be disappointed. This is a huge undertaking so I am setting my expectations very low. In a vacuum the jordan challenges were well
Executed. Now they want to do this x30, and then x3 for the three decade starts?

Many jersey’s and courts changed yearly. Arenas will be even harder to match (what about banners and jumbtron technologies). We can’t assume Jordan will retire when he does for baseball, or other guys getting injured. I think the what ifs exist at the beginning of the season and that’s it (unless we can control all teams). We can’t be reassured by 1986 that the draft class we create will actually have the correct realities. And what about the random free agents who came up out of nowhere? Halfway through the very first season we’ll have trades and injuries that won’t mimicking real life

Personally, the biggest thing about this is the amount of work put into the era appropriate presentation, aesthetics, and rules.

As far as rosters go, I think it should be obvious there will be tons of generics. It's extremely hard to get licenses for all those players through the decades, but this is a great starting template. With editing I'm sure roster guys and draft class guys will have these things as close to accurate as possible.

I don’t mind generics, as long as they look like real shoes and are varied. The big 2k logo is so terrible.

Unbelievable. Great to hear make zones illegal, oh wait that won't fix the transition or the defensive player from leaving his man wide open to go guard the wrong guy. But other then that,I can never complain about 2k. And this 2k23 is going to incredible. Finally a game forcing me to buy a next Gen console. So maybe my complaints on madden will end once I go next gen.

Childhood? 80s and 90s I was in my prime!! All the ERA’s sound great - Hoping 2k was focused on Gameplay and Game flow, still the part that matters the most - should be a game I can play most of the year—- EXCITED

This goes without saying but I’m assuming custom rosters of our choice can as always be applied to the modern era?

What would REALLY be insane is if we can use custom rosters for the eras! Like can I put Giannis and Steph in the 80’s or 90’s to deal with clogged paints, hand checking and less spaced out lanes and see how they fare? That’d be insanely fun.

Considering the amount of bugs usually in MyNBA, this all terrifies me on some level, but obviously I'm stoked as well.

This I think will be the issue unless someone recreates each year with 23 or 30 team control, they then go year by year creating draft classes, drafting players, creating players, fixing rosters, etc. Then hopefully we can save and share those scenarios for certain years with 2k share scenarios. But we would need every draft class created. I think this will be great half way through or towards the end of the cycle and for years to come once creators can create all the drafts, CAPS, & each teams real rosters and players. Which is all good. It sounds like the 3 starting points will be most accurate to play with then like you said it will end up a mess in 3-4 years or even in year 2 if having the real life rosters are what you are looking for down the road.

It would have been cool if they could have done that year by year to get it all accurate to each year, but obviously that’s a huge undertaking and probably not even realistic to have each team draft the same players and have the same rosters as they go year to year like they did with the rules changes, relocations, and uniform changes, etc…

But again, if we can share these my nba file scenarios by years then by the end of the cycle this could be a game we always come back to for classic fixes once edited. Unless and I hope they add year to year carry over saves and this mode can grow in years to come. I’m not complaining and it’s awesome addition and no way expect to have all that in this year. It’s an awesome idea and mode! But I don’t think it is what most here will want in say 1987, 1995, or 2005, etc… At least not til creators get to it.
