Re: NBA 2K23 - OFFICIAL TRIANGLE SYSTEM THREAD (NEXT GEN)

Added this wrinkle for Kobe as seen in the 2009 playoffs. The handoff flows right into a drag screen set by the trailing big man. The play can also be ran as a SLOB.

Some screen-the-screener actions seen throughout the 2009 playoffs when Bynum or Gasol were out of the game.

Just a little bit of an update: I put in a new ticket to get some of the bugs in the freelance taken care of. Hopefully it gets to the right team this time. I've been waiting for that to get fixed before I record any in-game tutorials or playcall combinations. A lot of those won't flow well until all five players can occupy all of the trigger points in the offense.

In the meantime, I'll start posting some more set plays with real life footage.

A little Motion Weak from the 2008 season. A nice counter to the solo cut series though poorly executed on these two possessions.

Re: NBA 2K23 - OFFICIAL TRIANGLE SYSTEM THREAD (NEXT GEN)

Finally found a play with single double action after a wing entry. Last time I remember seeing this was in 2K16 when we got Czar to add FLOPPY 1 TRI. Prior to that we saw it in 2k12 (LAL Tri Floppy) with a ton of options.

This year we have the option of shooting off the double screen, reversing to the weakside and running the whole play, or resetting with motion. Loved finding this especially since I’m seeing the AI decision making of my AI teammates off screens isn’t the best.

It is excatly like the Kerr System. But on your video Perdue didn't make the first screen. Only Grant made a screen.
It is good because the first pass is on the wing.
I remember on 2k11, 21 Corner curl 91 Bulls Tri 5, Jordan made this system against the Cavs 89. I didn't find it. But it was for a jumpshoot in the corner. Maybe i can use this one.
              <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/GqLDxJe0gNc" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I discovered Bulls 91 had new set plays in the Jordan challenge vs Lakers.
              Did you try them?

I think 91 iso 2 side exit reminds me a real iso for Jordan of the 1st 3 peat.

Another wing handoff into drag screen but this time the screen is set in the opposite direction and the ballhandler is attacking with only one shooter on the strongside.

This was just awesome, could you give us some tips on training for 5 star proficiency rating and mabye some info about what to look for in every player?

Well last year they’ve scaled back the training system by removing the “Player Training” menu from MyNBA so we can’t train specific attributes anymore. The easiest way to get to 5 star is really get a player already rated rather high (due to tendencies and attributes) and use the team training schedule to make the team practice the system more so than individual training. Also mix in film study to boost IQ. Film study requires no physical effort so you can do it every day with no fatigue or injury risk. You can still develop low rated players but it takes a lot longer to get to 5 star since you can’t specifically focus on attributes that matter.

The tendencies and attributes that impact rating can differ a little depending on position. For instance, post up tendency matters more for Centers than they do Point Guards. Touches Tendency is important but not that important. I just want my stars and my bigs to have touch tendency of around 80. The touches tendency is why there are so many ball dominant point guards with 4 or 5 star ratings when you are looking to sign free agents or evaluating your own roster.

Attributes are a little different. The one universal attribute that matters regardless of position is consistency, especially defensive consistency. Then tack on the other IQ attributes.

I have had players in the low 70s overall (like Kerr and Paxon) that have had 5 star ratings once I trained them right, in the old training system and this new one. You just have to keep the player on your roster long enough and tweak the team training schedule. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I got so inspired by this post that i rebuilded my team in the middle of the season, and am going full triangle mode with:
                        K Irving PG
                        Poole SG
                        Markkanen SF
                        Randle PF
                        Sengun C
                        and it's been a blast.
Mr flat earth has been playing so good it's insane.*
Won 6 out of the last 7 matches,
Thanks for the tips with the study film training. I am definitely gonna try it the rest of the season.
Do you have any tips about play priorities*in this system?* I am running a lot of : iso, pick and roll and some cutting, but am always*changing them around. i don't*play the matches my self, i only watch* cpu vs cpu full matches, and play priorities are always hard to get working proper on some players.*

haha i can't believe*you are laughing*at my super duper team*
Just so you get a little*info on how the team are playing,*
I am in my 2th season, close to the end, the first season i was playing grit and grind kind of basketball, (system proficiency)**for me its been the easiest*to get ur team to win consistent with when you do Cpu vs cpu full matches. All you need to focus on is rebounding, rebounding, rebounding* and someone to get you some points in the paint.
So the first season my* C, PF and SF trained on rebounding the whole year.
C Got 99 on both off and def reb
PF and SF got 99 on def reb.having*Markkanen on the SF is insane tho, maybe*my biggest reason to why am 4th standing atm
He mite be a **** def but his size and rebounding is insane for a SF, he stretches*the floor good also, and it's just 1 SF in the league he is struggling with, KD , seens lebron is playing as a PF for the lakers on my game.
Poole is just a filler, he was the best i could get at SG with what i have to offer and with my salary*cap. To be fair he did surprise*me with 1 thing, he gave my team something i didn't*have at all, he is really good at early breaks and gives my team at least*10-15 points on fastbreaks.

I do have 2 players i think are insanely*good in a triangle system, K Irving and Randle, K Irving is in my eyes the best PG iso player in the game, and Randle is 3th best PF iso player in the game,*Giannis is the best and lebron 2th i would guess without ever had them on 2k 23*
The rest of the team am really struggling with, how to build them for my triangle system, i don't*really*know what a center and a PF needs to do in the system soo atm they are rebounding until i find it out.

Atm I have 4 stars on the system*proficiency
I play the bulls 96 playbook (all the plays are triangle plays)
I also have added a few more cutting triangle*plays for lakers prime with kobe.
Everything*is on auto in the regular season,*i turn off*def from auto in the* playoffs
In the regular season I don't*do much other than change if my team should def the paint or limit 3points. (this is very important)
In the playoffs if i am an underdog. I normally*always*set up every def stuff for every position.*
I do take the controller over to my team and change the 8 favoritt plays before the match starts and I do feel that helps. I can def see they are doing more give and go and cutting when i do that then when i don't*do that.

I did check my def consistency just for fun, and my team is from 33 to 73 hehe most of them around*60 ish, so that mite be why i get blown out of the building sometimes*

Are you on Xbox? If so, you can set up a scenario in MyNBA and I can take a more in depth look.

From what you’ve described, you’re running too much iso and not enough plays that get the ball and players moving. You also probably need to turn down run plays tendency in coaching sliders. (Idk why roster devs think those triangle teams called plays 95% of the time. They didn’t.) ideally you should be running the freelance a lot more BUT it’s fine that you aren’t because right now the freelance on next gen is still bugged to force center into the low post position. Once it’s fixed, you’d be able to take advantage of the size your starting lineup has and put guys in different positions on the floor. I put in a ticket with 2kSupport so keep your fingers crossed that this gets fixed soon.

Since you don’t call plays manually and are doing cpu vs cpu, you definitely need to change the “focus player” option to manual in the offensive settings menu. I’d start out games going though Sengun in the low post and Randle in the high post more. Let Sengun find cutters and let Randle play a 2-man game with the guards.
Post up Lauri on smaller small forwards and run him off down screens. Poole needs to be involved in pick and roll, handoffs, and run him off screens as well. Kyrie’s game is so versatile that I’d be running guard post ups, cutters and anything else you’d be running for Poole.

Review your players hotzones and tendencies and where they like shots on the floor. Tailor your playbook around these. And with this lineup, make sure everyone’s play initiator option set to YES in player vitals. A lot of these plays are more deadly when your forwards initiate the offense and it also opens up the floor more in many instances.

The default playbook leads new users to believe that you have to have dominant post players or iso heavy guys to be successful. When in reality I only include five isolation plays in my playbooks and only around 10-15 post up plays.

Lastly, those defensive consistency ratings are way too low lol. Bump that up organically through practice or getting better players.

                              Hope this helps

Pinch post variation with a dive cutter for defenders going over the screens on off-ball movement
