Re: NBA 2K23 Early Impressions
Yep a lot of quick moves to create separation, don’t always need a step back etc.
Face up game is still a bit difficult thoughComment

Re: NBA 2K23 Early Impressions
Yeap i believe so but this coming from the cg video i've been watching around, i'm not playing myself atm. But i can definitely see it right away believe me, it's not like 22, top of the key pnr are being well guarded as well as i've seen some middies get crowded as well, so you gotta play the angles as it should with any pnr.
Ofcourse we definitely need more evidence as well as i play it myself to see it.
And i like they gave us the new in game menus, too!!!
I can already see the movement is whole lot of tighter, too with cg.
But let's reserve my judgement for the next few days and after i get my hands on. Gotta be careful.
AIR, You’re going to have to show us how you’re dropping 20 in the 1st on HOF. Maybe your seeing something I can’t identify. This was what I saw after two conversions in the lane.

But then again, vann did mention that every modern team is set to 0 Help Defense. I'm not sure what's going on, really. Will keep an eye on this and hopefully contribute if I decide to get the game.Comment

Re: NBA 2K23 Early Impressions
Which videos are you referring to? I want to check it out.
I don't know if it has anything to do with the fact that you're playing against the Bucks, 24th, and we don't know which team(s) AIRJ is/are playing against.

I actually chose the Bucks because he mentioned them specifically….That was my reason for using Jordan tooComment

I hope help defense can be adjusted manually in the roster editing section.
Go look at this thread and all Eccentrics testing in his signature. Great info for all sliders he has tested over the years.

Re: NBA 2K23 Early Impressions
Played two Jordan Challenge games and two NBA My Eras, here are my early observations:
+ Guarding players is better because no one can just hit shots while being guarded. It seemed in past 2Ks you could easily make shots while being guarded.
+ Jordan Challenge and eras filters and atmosphere are amazing, although the 80s and 90s eras can give you a headache after a whileThe historic feel of the floors arenas, and the players are incredible. I was impressed how many players rights 2K was able to acquire for these modes. I have yet to see a generic player in the four games I played.
+ Players are better skill defined. G'Town Ewing was tearing me up on the 1st Jordan Challenge. Meanwhile the 91 Bucks were no match for my Bulls. The 91 Sixers were a mixed bag, Manute Bol was dunking and blocking shots fiercely. Hawkins played pretty well, but overall both teams were overmatched. Can't wait to face the Lakers and Knicks!
3 pointers when made have a nice cut scene when it goes in on no doubters, nicely done and not overkill yet.
Only negative is I'm having trouble shooting wide open 3s. Maybe I need to play with the release setting (I have it on Late now, maybe I need to put it on early?Comment

Re: NBA 2K23 Early Impressions
I'm not going to say a lot but I wanted to mention that we talked about dynamic adjustments in the blog. Unlike past years we don't have everything on 100 on the first possession.
The more you do the more the system "should" adjust. Like all things this is year one so it will have things it misses or adjustments that may not be 100% effective in changing user behavior.
So we are not bringing the house on drives and stuff until we see oh you can drive and score.
Is there any chance we can see that replicated, maybe through patches or in future installments?Comment

Re: NBA 2K23 Early Impressions
Oh! You can still use the button to shoot. Personally, I was just wanting to go back to 100% using the shot stick for all my shots. I used to until about NBA 2K18 or 2K19. During that time, the shots always felt delayed to me when transitioning into the shot from whatever dribbling or spot up situation when using the shot stick. I guess most people didn't notice it, but I could. I want to say that the delay happened during that grey area where the game is trying to determine if your stick input is for a dribble move or for an actual jumper.Comment

Re: NBA 2K23 Early Impressions
All my life...I had to wonder. I had to wonder if the AI was reading my button presses when I icon pass. Now, I know that I wasn't crazy, lol. Hopefully this minor adjustment carries over to the situations when icon passing is being used.Comment

Re: NBA 2K23 Early Impressions
There is this one and some more but i got really mixed up for links and here in which you can clearly see that you gotta realistically play the pnrs now on CG and there is definitely a decision making whether you pull, drive or wait for the roll man as the hedge man does stuff now.

Re: NBA 2K23 Early Impressions
I understand the logic here, and I'm not trying to come at you or anything, but there are some teams who do go hard on defense from the jump. I think the Bucks are a good example of a team who commits hard to protecting the paint from the very beginning of the game until the final whistle. This opens them up as they notoriously give up tons of open threes, but that's mostly by design and a bullet they're willing to take.

If you start lighting it up from the mid-range, do they adjust out of the drop coverage?Comment
