Re: NBA 2K23: The Little Things

2K added some nice little touches to the halftime show as well. I have seen them cover injuries and talk about how big a loss specific players are. I have also seen them do a social media question segment where they answer a question. Most folks probably dont even watch the halftime show but I notice it and it's great.

A truly amazing experience so far.
This is what I was gonna say, had one last night where Kemp and Spud Webb got into it lol!

I’m someone who’s nitpicky as hell about signature shots and I must say, for the first time in a long time I’m blown away by the attention to detail with sig shots. Even guys further down the bench.

Always my favorite thread, especially when the game is good, which seems to be the case(so far)this year.

Yeah I had Charles Oakley shove someone away after a jumpball call. And Larry squawked at the East bench after a baseline jummper.

Have been loving using the beard for this very reason, his animations are on absolute point this year. Feels so good to hit that step back on any defender

It’s all over the game. The way players run back after scores. The fact that most of the time a simple dunk or open 3 from a great shooter isn’t celebrated. They just get back on D. It used to annoy me when guys who act like every score should be deified. A simple standing dunk from Caleb Smith with 9:55 in the 1st quarter doesn’t deserve a first pump. Even the way they react to and ones early in the game vs later is more nuanced. Still feels like the Pels didn’t get the same love as say the Nuggets or even T’Wolves when it comes to sig shots. Ingram’s release is way too low in midrange. And Herb Jones isn’t left handed.

Turned on the game for first time last night and quickly started MyNBA with Lakers. First game of the season is at warriors. The pregame show spends 10 minutes on ring ceremony for warriors and unveiling of Championship banner at the Chase Center. What’s even better is there is a lifelike Adam Silver passing out the rings to players…. Awesome…

Chicago Stadium correctly has the airhorn for substitutions rather than the classic buzzer horn.

Also, goggle-free early 90's Horace Grant.

                        Oh, and perm-era Doug Collins.

I still regularly watch games from the 80’s, but my favourite is still Hawks vs Celtics game 7 from the 1988 eastern conference finals. That Bird vs Wilkins duel………..
I cannot tell you the complete and utter joy that this game is bringing me, purely from the 80's era. Being in the UK, I was starved of NBA coverage growing up in the 80's but soaked up the limited programming like a sponge (wearing out VHS tapes). The movements and mannerisms of the mid to late 80's Celtics teams are burned in my memory and seeing them in the game with the beautiful 80's filters and presentation almost moved me to tears.

Like I said, I've watched that Hawks vs Celtics game 7 so many times that I could pretty much recite Brent Musberger and Tommy Heinsohn's commentary. There's a moment in the 4th quarter where the Celtics are on a roll with 7:35 left and the Chief gets the ball in the paint, does a little fake and the jams it one handed barely leaving the ground, with the crowd going nuts.
I was in the 80's era '83 playoffs, 1st round game 1 against the Bullets and 00 gets the ball down low doing that same effortless one handed slam. Absolute thing of beauty and I had to watch that game 7 again tonight.
I'm calling it, NBA 2K23 is the greatest sports game ever!

What a great post Papi!! I'm with you 100%

Watching those old Celtics games now (on NBA Channel Hardwood Classics) - it was a wonder they were so successful. That old, archaic offense is SO clumped and cramped together. Those little inside curl screens they ran are an abomination! LOL

But this game captures that 80s vibe so well, and you're right, seeing all the different teams and old players is overwhelming. Jeff Ruland, Paul Pierce, Maurice Lucas, Jack Sikma, David Thompson, George Gervin... it's incredible.
