Re: NBA 2K23 Impressions Thread Last Gen (XB1,PS4,PC)
How different is the PS4 version from the PS5 version gameplay-wise (NBA portion)? Physics, animations, movement, A.I., realism etc. - how do they compare and is the PS4 version worse or actually improved in some aspects? Thanks!Last edited by youvalss; 12-15-2022, 04:06 PM.My Specs:

Re: NBA 2K23 Impressions Thread Last Gen (XB1,PS4,PC)
The animations are smoother and more fluid on PS5 but honestly other than that and a few minor differences in how playcalling works and obviously graphics, its not a lot different in my opinion. In fact I have been playing the PC version almost exclusively. In fairness that mostly because of mods and being able to play on the go with Steam Deck but even then i dont feel like im missing out on anything gameplay wise by playing the PC version. I couldnt have said that the last 2 years.
To answer the second part of your question. Im getting the most realistic stats ive ever gotten in any 2k to date and i feel like the amount of fouls on PC is even better than PS5.
Lastly, the game is massively improved. I know the knee jerk reaction was to be mad that the PC version was still last gen. I was gulity of condeming it as well. Now that ive played it a lot, i can say the sentiment of the game jyst being a roster update is completely unfounded IMO.i have said numerous times that 2k23 is the best basketball game ever and i can easily say that i feel the same way about the last gen version as well.Last edited by CujoMatty; 12-16-2022, 02:15 PM.2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush

Re: NBA 2K23 Impressions Thread Last Gen (XB1,PS4,PC)
Thanks, that's great to hear! I don't buy 2K every year anymore and play these games less than I used to. NBA Live 18 has been my go-to game the last couple of years as it's amazing with roster and slider edits!
But I've been looking at getting back to 2K recently and been playing some 2K16 and 2K18 (I prefer 16). I also own 2K21 but just can't bring myself to play it, something about it just makes me dislike it.
So I've been reading some 2K23 blogs again and watching gameplay and was thinking of picking it up. I may actually get it and find a good roster set. The only problem is that I don't watch much NBA anymore, just don't like this league as much as I used to. But still like playing NBA video games, that hasn't changed. My Specs:

Re: NBA 2K23 Impressions Thread Last Gen (XB1,PS4,PC)
Got the game! It plays nice and I already like it better than 2K21.
There is something I don't understand: I like to have my PS4 offline (not connected to the internet). That has not been an issue with previous 2Ks (other than 2K14) - when it comes to saving a roster file locally and loading it.
But with 2K23 it's really strange: I edited and saved a roster file locally while I was offline, but then was not able to load it. Only when I connected to the internet I was able to see it and load it.
And it kept telling something about Communication Settings, not sure if this is related to the PS4's Parental Controls or what, tried to mess with that too, but it didn't make a difference.
So can you no longer save a roster locally only and then load it while being offline?
Looks like the elbow accessory issue from previous games is still there. I tried to give Penny an elbow band like MJ's, but there was no option for it.Last edited by youvalss; 12-22-2022, 09:42 AM.My Specs:

Re: NBA 2K23 Impressions Thread Last Gen (XB1,PS4,PC)
Maybe it's me, but feels like controls are less responsive this year - both dribbling and shooting (set on early). Played 2K16 and 2K18 and the controls feel much more responsive, as well as player movement feels better. This year it feels like there is a delay, unless it's my controller, but I don't have any issue with any other game.My Specs:

Re: NBA 2K23 Impressions Thread Last Gen (XB1,PS4,PC)
Wow, very strange decision. Anyway, I can't help but wonder what's going on with the unresponsive controls. Played 2K21 on the PS4 and it felt smooth as butter. But with 2K23 there is a delay. I didn't understand why I was having a hard time with dribbling and shooting, messed with the settings/sliders a lot, but nothing worked. Went back and played 2K21 tonight and it was so much more responsive and smooth. Can't be a controller issue because I played other games and had no issue in any of them.

Re: NBA 2K23 Impressions Thread Last Gen (XB1,PS4,PC)
The Era's intrigue me. But I'm old and suck horrendously at the dribble moves on right stick. Does NBA 2k23 still have alternate controls like 2k18 or 19 did? Where you can use b for spin and y is some other dribble move?Comment

Re: NBA 2K23 Impressions Thread Last Gen (XB1,PS4,PC)
Eras are on next gen only as far as I know. I'm not sure about the buttons, but as far as I can remember you can still set the Pro Stick to either dribbling/shooting/default. I started to play with dribble only. Live 18 got me used to shoot with a button, and I don't need to worry about accidently shooting with the stick.I was actually hoping that if you set it to shooting, then dribbling would be like 2K8 and the old games, ha.My Specs:
