Re: NBA 2k23 Off/Def Settings Knowledge Collection
Just heard Czar on his most recent vid.
He acknowledged that so much of ACE didn’t work when he got hold of the d. Nothing specifically on the settings.Comment

Re: NBA 2k23 Off/Def Settings Knowledge Collection
I asked him about ace, apprently its getting replaced with "gameplan". He didn't go into it tho. Wanted to get on his live today and ask him about specific settings like leave them, pre rotate, ICE ect ect but missed it.PSN:BandOfGypsys91

Re: NBA 2k23 Off/Def Settings Knowledge Collection
I really hope that 2k24 is finally current gen on PC. I can't stand another year with an old gen version of the game. We are missing SO MUCH content. All of these new settings are simply not existing on old gen. And then we are wondering why the game plays so horrible on PC?!Comment

Re: NBA 2k23 Off/Def Settings Knowledge Collection
I don't think this is 100% accurate. I think it is largely dependent on a player's help d IQ rating.
For example I ran a PnR on the wing with Arenas and the screen was set towards the endline. I ran off the screen (so towards the baseline) and thought I had a clear path to the basket (90s style spacing so the 3 other players were all bunched away from the play) when KG comes running down at the perfect time to cut off my drive and force a contested pull up.
It was a thing of beauty tbh. I'm use to seeing guys play like real life versions on offense, but seeing KG make a play like on that defense brought a smile to my face.
It’s really pleasant whenever the help works as it should. It just doesn’t work correctly near enough. In fact, way too often the rotations are completely incorrect. Which is even more frustrating imo because it’s clear they are attempting to get it right, but it’s not. Czar commented on this awhile back trying to justify why the rotations are bad at times, but they are bad so consistently that it’s clear there’s a problem that needs to be addressed. And incorrect help rotations have been ongoing since at LEAST 2K17.
Has there been any more info to fill in the question marks on the original post? There was a lot of good info there.Comment

Re: NBA 2k23 Off/Def Settings Knowledge Collection
Just doing some testing and I've found the "Leave Him" setting to be working or has been fixed. I tested using Al Horford vs Alperen Sengun. Basically whenever Sengun was in the corner or on the wing, Horford was no more than two steps, possibly three max, outside of the paint.Comment

Re: NBA 2k23 Off/Def Settings Knowledge Collection
The biggest thing needed from the leave him option is him being the primary help defender. It would be a huge game changer if we could set someone to be the one who provides help or double teams. I hate having to call for double teams that automatically come from the same rotation, often leaving someone open that you don’t want to leave open.Comment

Re: NBA 2k23 Off/Def Settings Knowledge Collection
i really hope that leave him works on old gen now too, but I fear thst might again Not be the case.
i miss the Option to Set a defender to "ignore" their matchup completely. like you are guarding ****ing deandre Jordan at the 3pt line, what the hell is wrong with you?!Comment

Re: NBA 2k23 Off/Def Settings Knowledge Collection
I wish that the Ice setting worked better online, because the META offensive tactic this year is:
1) stronghand side speedboost into a HOF brick wall screen
2A) stronghand agent 3 fadeaway jumper against under coverage
2B) stronghand tomahawk limitless takeoff dunk against over coverage
In theory, Ice should completely shutdown that offensive tactic by making the ballhandler use his weakhand animations--it's cool how those actually are much worse for dribbling, shooting, and dunking--but sadly, it's been a couple years and a whole console generation ago since Ice worked well enough to use online (I forget exactly which 2K it was good in, but I know it was only useful for 1 or 2 versions max after it was introduced).
Switching the 2-man PNR used to be another reliable method of stopping it (while willingly giving up a height mismatch to the screener), but switching now feels much less effective on new gen than it used to be on old gen, to the point that both offensive players will consistently get open, because the hedger is too slow to step up and contest the dribbler's shot, while the on-ball defender doesn't drop back fast enough to get in front of the roller's path to the rim.
Basically, the PNR is impossible to defend in this game in the 1v1 modes where you're reliant on 4 CPU defenders to do their job, because you're always giving up something with the under or over coverages, and both Ice and switch don't work well enough to use. All you can really do this year is run the dribbler off the three point line and steer them into the paint hoping to get a lucky backtap steal, chasedown block, or intimidator rimout.
In most of my 2K23 online matches, both teams will shoot 65% to 75% running nothing but plain vanilla offense (iso, PNR, or the super-OP backdoor cut), and the only defensive stops will come from steals/blocks/rimouts or random charges/out of bounds violations.Last edited by jyoung; 01-02-2023, 07:50 PM.Comment

Re: NBA 2k23 Off/Def Settings Knowledge Collection
And I don't know if this is an all-console issue or not, but on Xbox Series X, the teammate communication speech bubbles that tell you what the AI is planning to do DO NOT show up at all during online matches, and will only appear in offline modes.Comment
