I feel like it's way too easy to step out of bounds this year while dribbling around, entering/exiting the postup stance, coming down with caught passes, and doing moves out of the triple threat.

I'd rather see 2K24 sacrifice some realism and bring back the old invisible barrier around the court just to keep from having 4 to 6 unnecessary out of bounds calls a game.

Plus that fear of the boundary lines is always lurking in the back of my mind during close games, making me play more conservative than I want to, and preventing me from doing everything I want to do on the court.

This is an area of the game where fun and freedom need to overrule realism IMO

I actually don't mind the stepping out of bounds to make up for lack of non steal turnovers. Turnover numbers in basketball video games are always way too low.

There's already a jump pass command in the game (X + A) if people want to try and trick the defense with a fake shot pass, and that's the only option they should have in 2K24 to do that IMO.
        Exactly..

Derrick Rose used to drive me up the wall when he did that back in the day... he would jump pass all the time since them Simeon years.

Do you know what happens if the 2k servers drop in the middle of a game in an online enabled MyNBA save when you're playing vs the CPU? You get kicked out of the mode. You lose all progress in that game

Not sure if this was mentioned before but I'm playing against the hornets at home in the year 2000. I was planning on just not accepting the rebrand to the bobcats. Then during a time out I see the pelican is dancing in the background and the cheerleaders are all in pelicans gear! So not only can I not move the team cuz the game already acknowledges theyll be the pelicans but it doesnt even have the right mascot for the era. A small annoying detail.

just a short notice: you do realize that the bobcats are not a rebrand of the hornets but an entirely new franchise that was founded in charlotte?

Courts still not fixed months into the game. I'm talking about simply giving us a court already in this game across all modes and one I know of that's the same as last year, the city court that stayed the same 95%

I've noticed that in 2K23, if you start a MyNBA (any era) and then add the expansion teams that are already in the game (Baltimore Barons, Pittsburgh Force, etc.), your team's logo will be somewhat blurry/distorted in the MyNBA menu. It does not do this if you created the expansion team yourself for whatever reason.

Obviously this alone doesn't affect anything of significance, but I'm worried other issues are introduced when this is done.

(I have OCD, which is probably why I noticed this in the first place lol)

But, why though? I'm not understanding -- is the argument that this would make for more realism?

Players in real life do it ALL THE TIME, every game. How many times did MJ elevate to his highest point on a jump shot, only to spot Luc Longley wide open underneath the basket, and fires a pass to him rather than follow through with the lower percentage jump shot?

So you want to take control away from the player, and consequently, make the game less realistic?

Seriously. Locking into an animation would be terrible. Players pass out of layups all the time, MJ would be nearly completing a posterizer before diming out at the last second to an open man.

Just saw David Bertans pass out of a 3 pointer.

Sounds like you're watching a Brooklyn Nets game.

I’m just starting with next gen, but I always felt bail out was a massive op badge. The jump pass is legit, but I feel like in the same way as a jump shot, if you don’t start your pass around where you’d be “at the top of your jump,” your ability to get it to anyone who isn’t very close should rapidly decline.

Def don’t wanna see jump passing removed because it is another layer of skill, but actual bail outs should fail a lot more. I don’t watch 2k league but I’m surprised someone in there hasn’t brought out the true nature of bail out badge. It’s nuts.

To me everything that lets you do something you can’t is very strong. One can argue without bail out badge, it should be awful. I was talking about player to player passing interactions in the other thread and this is an egregious example, a bullet out of a 3 by some non passer, I dunno. You should def be able to dump off but for a lot of people it should be like an out of bounds save sort of pass. If you think of it in that, imagine someone saving the ball from the corner and rocketing it to a cutter for a lay up. It could happen, but other than select guys or luck, it probably wouldn’t, and in that situation you assume both players are ready.

It’s possible even under the rim someone could fumble it cuz they are trying to get ready to rebound when the passer dumps it off. They def need to be softer, unless it’s a deliberate jump pass.

                                -Smak
