Re: NBA 2k24 New Technology feature
They can use all the fancy tech they want but the engine simply doesn't allow for fast, responsive gameplay and animations.
It's slow and sluggish. You move the stick and a fraction of a second later the player responds on screen.
Other basketball games have shown 1:1 control is possible.
2K doesn't compare.Comment

Yooooo I don’t know if anybody seen the fifa 24 gameplay trailer but they have this new tech called hyper motion V and I think that’s the same tech 2k is using but they are calling it Pro Play. Check it out. Link below

Re: NBA 2k24 New Technology feature
Why wouldn’t the footage be able to use? The nba owns it lol. If anything this tech should work better because it’s only 10 player interactions. All those cameras they have in a real arena, they should be blue to capture all the anglesComment

Jokics run is in 2k23 lol
I get what you’re saying though
If they can capture 1200 different styles IN FC imagine the 450 in the NBA along with signature shots…

Re: NBA 2k24 New Technology feature
I'm surprised by the amount of people dismissing this technology.
We already saw what it can do with the jump shots in 2k23. Some came out better than others, but I would say nearly all of the new jumpers were captured using this technology that they look to be expanding on into 2k24. I don't think it's any coincidence that our one confirmed mo-capped set of animations by Devin Booker were probably the worst of the bunch as far as feeling like they were done at game speed.
You can even compare the new pull-ups and step backs they added to Book's and you see and feel the difference there as well. They just need to add more to some packages to get rid of the generics that are tied to some of them.
I see people talking about running and walking styles and we got some of those in 2k23 as well. Much like the pull-ups and stepbacks though, they need to flesh these out. Some just have a walk, some just have a jog and for a bulk of them, the sprint animation looks and feels the same.
2k23 was a great step, really excited to see how far they go with this in 2k24.Comment

NBA 2k24 New Technology feature
I’m hoping the animation fluidity is similar to what was shown in that initial Jordan challenge trailer for 2K23 when he hit that shot over Russell. I’m hoping that was a glimpse into the new technology.

Re: NBA 2k24 New Technology feature
What has me excited is that it's been a long time since there was a big gameplay feature in a new 2k. If you look at the back of the box bullet points (or product page) for the last few years or so (I went back as far as 2k19), the gameplay sections are very generic, like they knew they had nothing to hype up.
I don't want to get my hopes too high but, at the very least, this doesn't sound like a typical run of the mill gameplay update with some new animations and tweaked controls. This could potentially impact both the look and feel of the game, which are two areas that have needed a refreshmComment

Re: NBA 2k24 New Technology feature
I saw the easports fc24 volumetric tech. It's surely the same. You know that replays in the slam dunk contest where the camera view moves in 360 degrees. They're using hundreds of cameras. Amazing tech but I'm a little cautious because it's difficult to incorporate the new technology with the existing gameplay.
If it was a new game from the ground up, I would be more ptimisticComment
