Man I hope we can finally get real Authentic Arena Audio technology to go along with that real footage
The Audio Department always been 2k Achilles Heel

And I also think my player made 2k stop caring about Audio

There was nothing Next Gen about NBA 2k23 Audio

I'm not comparing the other game I'm just curious why that game in 2018 is still more advanced then Next Gen 2k[emoji1751]

If true, maybe we finally get accurate passing options instead of the limited generic **** that is made worse by terrible AI.

Re: NBA 2k24 New Technology feature

I checked the video out. This is interesting. I'm curious as to how this can be used. If implemented well, ProPLAY has the potential to push the visuals, mechanics and authenticity of gameplay to new levels. It could be a key evolution that keeps the game feeling fresh. I'm curious to see it in action and experience how gameplay improves. More realism is always welcome if balanced with enjoyable flow and control.

I imagine the developers will feed hours of video footage into a machine learning model or AI system to analyze the real-life mechanics of crosses, spin moves, jump shots etc. The software will break the motions down to their core components and generate new animations that blend realism with responsiveness and precision.

This should enable sharper responsiveness and more lifelike movement. On-ball moves like crossovers and step-backs may feature more player-specific nuances. Shooting jumpers or finishing at the rim can appear more seamless and modeled on real player tendencies. Defensive maneuvers should also feel more true to life.

Here's what I'm hoping for on the defensive end of things (Because offense gets all the attention)

          Hopefully:

More Realistic On-Ball Defense - Hopefully the footage analysis can pick up on nuances like footwork, hand positioning, and body angles from real NBA defenders. This could translate into more lifelike on-ball defense movements to stay in front of ball-handlers. Things like shuffle steps, hand placement when guarding closely, and balance when cutting off driving lanes can feel truer to life.

Enhanced Off-Ball Defense - Off-ball defense like denying passes, navigating screens, and providing help defense can also become more realistic. Subtle movements like anticipating passes, moving through screens at proper angles, and when to leave your man to help protect the paint could improve.

Player-Specific Defensive Tendencies - Just like on offense, real-life defensive tendencies of star defenders should be translated into 2K. This can recreate things like Draymond Green's ability to read plays, Rudy Gobert's paint protection, and Marcus Smart's pesky on-ball pressure.

Better Steals and Blocks - The timing and animations for steals and blocks can become more realistic based on analyzing footage. Exact moments like when a defender pokes loose a dribble or leaps to snatch a shot can be authentically recreated. (I hate "body blocks")

Enhanced Defensive IQ - Analysis of team defensive systems and players properly rotating, switching, and helping each other should lead to smarter CPU teammate defense. This, alongside user control improvements, should raise the bar for lockdown team defense.

I hope 2k use the whole season including playoffs footage last year to start 2k24 season

This may be wishful thinking but I would love to see this new technology have an affect on the player models.

If it is anything like that EA sports FC 24 then this has the potential to be really good.

More signatures everything like what MaxisNicee, BdotAdot be trying to pull off on them skits:

Running, movement, dribbling on ball defense, shots, celebrations, chirping:

Running, movement self explanatory: they will use the cameras to capture how each player moves around the court.

Dribbling: Kyrie, Steph, etc. performs a new size up move that is not part of their original motion capture assigned they can then add it to the package.

On ball defense: Bam's Adebayo's defensive stance can be replicated on how hen defending the pick and roll which looks different than other bigs.

Shots: More signature layups contested jumper animations when defended. Kyrie, Doncic, Joker, Ja etc. pulls off some new move it can get added as part of their sig now. More signature free-throw forms. Think of when LeBron does the move when he looks down before jacking up a three or spins the ball in his hand.

Celebrations: "Too little", Staring at people on the ground if you drop them. Sig celebrations from the bench

This should make playing the CPU a liitle bit less repetitive you would think

The NBA does the most animations compared to any sport
So it would make sense to put that type of tech in NBA game

I am moderately hopeful for this new tech and it wouldn't surprise me if they're finally able to make a bigger stride because the tools the developers use obviously get enhanced, it just sometimes takes extra time to see big changes.

I think the series is due for an uplift like this. There has been some patchwork upgrades in previous years but it was nothing substantial IMO. Let's see.

I remember there was discussions in general about video games already close to reaching life-like visuals and animations and frankly I think we've still got a ways to go.

Celebrations from the bench! I completely forgot to touch on this. Bench reactions need a complete overhaul in my opinion. Here are some new things I'd like to see:

-Trainers coming out to tend to injured players on the bench
-Bench warmups like stretching, riding exercise bikes
-Players intensely watching the action and communicating on defense
-Guys slapping the floor to fire up teammates when opposing player has ball
-Teammates picking players up off the floor after hard fouls (consistently...too many animations of guys getting up by themselves. Players race to pick their teammates up in the NBA...unless they don't like them lol)
-Team huddles during dead balls including both bench and on-court guys

I’m just glad layups were back as a valid finishing technique in 2K23

After you asked me this question, I decided to go back and watch some games. I'm currently doing a Magic/Bird MyEra where I'm just Spectating all of the games. After watching countless games, I gotta say I was wrong. The layups are world's better than they've ever been and look very fluid. If I didn't know any better, I would think that some of this new tech for 24 was used at least a little in 23...not just talking layups, but certain movements, jump shots, players grabbing each other etc. I'm glad I went back to take a second look. When I made that post, I was thinking about those layup animations of the past where you may be alone on a breakaway and instead of a fluid layup, you stop like 3-4 feet from the rim and get this funky looking unathletic layup animation.

But, I've seen very very few of those. So, I stand corrected on that.

I don't know about a gimmick, but it might be more subtle than people expect.

I think of Fieldsense in Madden. It improved certain animations and interactions, but it wasn't a completely different game in terms of look and feel. It's also something that will take a few years to see the full potential of. Changes to the animation system also usually result in some inconsistencies and oddities. Don't be surprised if this is a step forward in some aspects but a step back in others.

Hopefully we are wrong and the improvements are immediately evident from the first trailer. Best case scenario is that the first gameplay trailer drops and people are questioning if it's actually real gameplay footage because the animations and movement are fluid and realistic.

On Reddit there’s a thread stating popular 2K players who are now basically like beta testers played it and said it feels basically the same as 2K23. So who knows.

We’ve already gotten a glimpse of what the tech can do in ‘23, so outside of simply seeking out something to be pessimistic about, building on that is an exciting prospect for those of us that enjoy the signature style side of the game. I wouldn’t expect to see much from the upcoming trailer, much like things like running styles weren’t visible from this past years….but I could be wrong on that.
