Any word on Fast Breaks in 2K24?

It's been three years since transition offense was an actual thing in NBA2K. I know you'll never be able to stop a human player from leaving the defensive end of the court to wait under the other hoop, but making an entire facet of the game unplayable is a step too far.

Entire teams in NBA history have been built on transition offense. For caring about the authenticity of the eras, how is it that the Lakers, Mavericks, Magic, and Suns can't have their high speed offense?

So is there any word or chance that fast breaks will be a thing again, or am I just skipping this game?

We're a month out from release, and there's no mechanics or gameplay stuff released? That's a tad unusual for 2K isn't it?

        Nope.

Here’s the release schedule for information.

2K is notorious for waiting until the last minute to release details about its games. Seems like they have been doing this for well over a decade to build last-second hype.

It's something worth looking out for once information comes down the pipe. I'm not holding my breath though. It seems like the 2K engine struggles with finding an acceptable happy-medium when it comes to this sort of stuff. Seems like it's either it's too easy to spam fast breaks all game or defenders are coded to hit you with that magical catch-up logic.

But to the point, yeah. It'd be nice to be able to access some semblance of free flow in the open floor because it's pretty much nonexistent as it stands.

I've always scratched my head how pre-orders are still there to be had in the meantime though haha....

Hopefully they managed to find some time/resources to allocate towards the transition game though. Always interested in progress where it's needed in the NBA aspect of the game.

if we have fastbreaks, CPU timeouts, sped up/ smoother deadball plays and situations and somehow make passing (and more importantly, good passers stand out) i'll be over the moon.

still playing 2K23 every day and enjoying it. longest game i've played

I'm of the opinion that video games, especially sports ones, don't need months of hype to get people interested. These games release the same time every year and the majority of the fan base is going to buy the game regardless. A month is plenty of time to show off what's new and get people excited.

I will say, it is annoying for 2k to not release ANYTHING gameplay related till damn near a month before. EA FC already puts out content and their game comes out a few weeks after 2k24. Not comparing the two, but it just is a bit.. frustrating to not know anything but a few things we can gather from shaky screen footage and a few screenshots.

So we've seen a bunch of stuff about gameplay changes... and not a word about transition offense.

How a major sports game can go three whole versions without a fundamental part of the game boggles my mind. Imagine if EA said "The AI defense can't handle players throwing deep passes, so pass distance is capped at 20 yards". Their entire office building would be on fire by the end of the day.

The only thing I’ve seen that should impact transition is if you double tap the run button they should push the ball out ahead and sprint.

It was something along those lines, idk how good CPU will be at using it.

To me another part of fast breaks were outlet passes. That pass was thrown as a straight line into the receivers back so if you were anywhere in between the passer and receiver you could steal it easily. Would be nice for the pass to have some more arc on it so it goes ahead of the receiver like a real outlet pass
                        ... But hey VC sale!!

For the last 5 years, I have been saying that 2k needs to have a rebounding option for each player on offense and defense. That can be adjusted in the player option menu. The same way 2k has for pnr defense, and defensive pressure.

The 2 tabs would be offensive rebounding and defensive rebounding.

                          Off Rebounding
                          1. Crash boards on release of every shot.
                          2. Get back on defensive on shot release.
                          3. Crash sometimes get back on defense sometimes.

                          Def Rebounding
                          1. Crash boards on release of every shot.
                          2. Leak out on release of every shot.
                          3. Crash sometimes and release sometimes.

Addition these 2 features would allow for the devs to introduce real fast breaks, and stop the benefit of cherry picking.

                            YES.

In real basketball when you are up top its your responsibility to get back and prevent fast breaks. Originally, that's why the position was called "guard", it was to guard the other hoop.

To have brain dead AI up top that allows these constant leak outs is stupid. Should have been fixed a decade ago in my opinion.

Yeah I got 23 playing really good right now. Get plenty of fast breaks, and turnovers, fouls, etc. If you really want to open it up you have to decrease offensive awareness slider to 40 or under. Defensive awareness slider to 40 or 45. Help defense slider to 50 and all coach's help defense settings to under 50. I have the top def teams at 50 for that and bad teams to 40. I really don't think if you asked me right now that I'd be even interested in 24 right now.
