It had the potential to be ranked #1
But that green or miss in MYNBA along with the shot-timing slider was frustrating
And one of the patches killed my passing with zip game heavy

    So 2k11 →→→→nba2k23

2k24🤔 has the potential since they buff the midrange and post game and took out green or miss offline
And for the love of God they brought back Hook Specialist 🙏

It's been a long time since I've played an NBA 2K for a full calendar year. I didn't quite get there this year, but that was more so on account of self-imposed hiatus (I'd finished my first Era and wasn't sure I wanted to start another with 2K24 so close to release).

It's one of my favorite 2Ks of all-time, no doubt. It certainly had its imperfections (unrealistic transition game, frequent under-the-hood patch tweaks forcing me to constantly flip my sliders all around for a month or two in the winter, rim-hang packages not working). But truth be told, all my favorite 2Ks had issues. As one example, I don't think it was possible to block dunks in 2K11 which then led to 2K12 becoming the year of the armpit block.

The Eras Mode is one of the biggest undertakings I've ever seen in a sports video game and one of the most wonderfully executed. It's a mode that could literally take me years to play through with fidelity and even then, I could just start all over and play through it all again in a different way.

For the sake of brevity, I'll just say 2K23 is/was one of the great ones for me and I hope they can keep riding that wave moving forward.

I still play 2k11 to date with my PS3. So here it goes..

        1- 2K11
        2- 2K16
        3- 2K23
        4- 2K7/2K14
        5-2K19
        6-2K8

I didn't have much time unlike the previous 20+ years i had with 2k series yet 23 is a solid game, it showed its presence whenever i get to play with on team modes 5v5(play now modes, myleague etc. esp. wnba matches, i play half of my games on WNBA mode which plays good sound fundamental basketball over there and much more team variety.)

            1. 2k11
            2. 2k12
            3. 2k13

2k23 dies with the patches, lack of speed and lack of fasbreaks. It was up there with 11 at one point.

The lack of defensive settings killed the enjoyment for me. If 23 had just made the defensive settings work, even with the other problems it would have been top 3.

As a Coach/Spectator Mode guy, 2k23 easily ranks #1. Also being an old head, falling in love with the game of basketball in the 80's, MyEras was the greatest thing added to a sports game ever IMO. Still going through a Magic/Bird era franchise right now, watching every game. This is one of those games where people will go back to for years to come!

My #2 is NBA 2k14 PC and that because of possibly the greatest mod for a sports game in history...the Ultimate Base Roster Mod. Being able to play any season from like 1947-2023 with a draft class for every single year...and ABA teams included...just was ridiculous.

Same. 80s is when I started watching so 23 ERAs was made for me. Showtime Lakers and Magic was my guy growing up.

NBA 2k23 is just unplayable to me. stupid AI, stupid shot selection, poor animations, players not playin like themselves, CPU scoring 35% even when boosting their sliders to 60.

playin 2k14 with mods for the last 4 months. i think it sayin all

#1 - eras and I enjoy the gameplay.

To me I have found enjoyability in every version. I only play offline MyNBA

I’m probably skipping 2k24 because 23 was so fun and replayability is so high.

If it wasn't for league pass which I must have, I probably wouldn't buy 2k24. If they ported our roster and draft classes for eras, I would be perfectly happy playing 2k24 but I haven't heard anything from the developers and they used a damn my player guy to give an update. Not promising

2K18 is still my favorite 2K with by far the most hours I played. 2K16 is close.

2K17 and 2K19 are the ones with the least hours I played.

2K23 is a very solid 2K and in my top 5 because of it feeling the most refined, even if I still have plenty of nitpicks about design philosophy. I notice the AI improvements, but I also notice more end of shot clock chucks by the AI because the actions aren't always fast enough and maybe the defense is a bit overtuned and there isn't as much give and take (2K still too often feels like defenders can both prevent the drive AND strongly contest the perimeter shot, when in the real games there is more of a pick your poison element)... maybe I'm just able to regularly lock the AI down because I know to help off poor/mediocre shooters and play in a conservative manner.

I think it's important to rank games based on the impact they made for their time. Nobody is ranking Gran Turismo 7 over GT1. Nobody is ranking Halo 4 over Halo 1 or 2.

                            So I'll go with this:

                            1. 2k11
                            2. 2k16
                            3. 2k14 (Ps4/Xbone)
                            4. 2k23
                            5. 2k19

                            Honorable Mention: 2k12

                                1. NBA 2K23

Those were the ones I enjoyed the most. Still play 2K23 to this day which is unusual for me and sports games. I will likely buy 2K24 but really wouldn't need to.
I have played many 2ks and many NBA Lives, first official truly NBA game for was NBA showdown (1994). I will say NBA 2k23 with the right slider combination and right rosters has made this my favorite basketball game. The myEras took me back to 1994 and the Magic vs Bird even me think of Jordan vs Bird and Sunday afternoons looking at Lakers vs Celtics. This was the first game to let me relive these moments.

                                1. NBA 2k23

                                3. NBA Showdown
                                4. NBA 2k11

I will get NBA 2k24 because I am intrigued by the new play motion and cross play. NBA 2k23 will stay installed on my machine because it will be a while before the roster guys will get the rosters perfected.
