Out of the box, probably the best 2K game play wise in a mighty long time. The movement is fluid. The AI is aggressive on both sides of the ball. Fastbreaks actually work, had a few of them and so did the CPU. It is like outlet passes have way more zip on them. Going against Miami is a chore. Tyler Herro will light you up from 3 and Jimmy will light you up from mid range or simply drive on you. Dribbling is nice. Strength is nice however I would rather see players stumble or get knocked down to the ground instead of how it is now. I think it is the bulldozer badge or something that pushes them away a little too far, where as when I saw just a stronger player without the badge do it, it looked more natural.

But overall, right now I will give the game a 9.5 out of 10. Game play movement is just so smooth.

Gameplay on XBOX Series S is really fluid but I am experiencing a really weird issue that only occurs during gameplay and not to the hud or anything...

So weirdly enough during gameplay the models and some other items have transparent filter lines going across them like noise or static...

The TV I have the little S hooked to is not 4K so maybe it's just a resolution thing but it's enough to drive me nuts or atleast was last night.

Got to play for 1hr last night on my PS5.

Was really impressed on how the players move and look compared to 2K23.
These are probably some of the best/realistic basketball movements/animations I have seen in a basketball game.

I liked that in the Play now/Era quick games that they added the option to use costume rosters in the ERA quick games now

Loved hearing the old school NBA on NBC music.

Was impressed on how the classic players played and especially moved around in the Mamba Challenge and in ERA's mode compared to 2K23.

The Pro Play is defiantly going to be a game changer if they keep updating the current and classic players with this feature.

It’s definitely not a TV issue, it’s a bug. I noticed it doesn’t happen in certain arenas. For instance, go into Eras Quick play (LeBron Era) and select the Celtics as home team. You’ll see the problem doesn’t exist. Same applies when you go into WNBA and select the Liberty as home team.

Very weird issue that needs to be addressed.

The animations in this game are so damn authentic it’s hard to grasp. It so lifelike sometimes you’re shocked when you see something that looks video game ish. Insane how far we’ve come over the years.

Has me very excited about the potential of ProPlay going forward. It seems like the focus was on signature styles (I'm sure there is more to it than just that) but I can imagine this being expanded to other areas like boxing out/rebounding, defensive movement and rotations, better offenses movement (off ball, plays, handoffs, screens, etc).

Man do I love ACE substitutions right now. Its not perfect but its close. The only issue I've seen so far is that it left Fox on the Kings on the floor too long in the first half but the fix was easy. You can override ACE subs so I just put Davion Mitchell in and he gave Fox a significant rest.

2k also fixed how the game handles foul trouble. Players with 2 fouls in the first quarter now sub out. Players with 3 fouls in the 2nd quarter now sub out.

I refused to preorder, but definitely bought day one.

Overall I’m very happy with the refinement of everything introduced these last couple of years.

I created a player and was very happy to see that I can change body types under the appearance>chest>body type options. Was hoping for updated accessories like a visible tank top, but I’ll live.

I stared a modern era franchise w/ player lock, and really enjoyed the gameplay. Haven’t had much time to play with sliders but the players feel a lot more alive. They attack more, mostly in reasonable ways that compliment their skill (Giannis decided he was Steph Curry for some reason).

I loved the new substitution system. It’s the most realistic I’ve seen so far.

The instant replay/photo moments are one of my new favorite additions. I’d been secretly wishing for something like this for years!

Smart plays and the new freestyle system have me smiling too

The only negative I’ve encountered was edited shoes, that were recently added to the game (KD 16, trae young 3, etc.), don’t appear and aren’t equipable. It will probably be fixed eventually.

I haven’t really gotten into the real meat of myleague but I’ll probably continue to enjoy it longer than I did 2k23. Can’t wait until the real NBA season starts.

You can finally change the body type of an offline created player? Can you use custom rosters in 2KU as well?

Yes you can…and there’s like 8-10 different body types to choose from.

Even tho it’s not the complete overhaul I wanted, this is the best CAP has ever been. They added a lot of little things like eye circles, forehead wrinkles, chest hair, arm freckles, different lip colors , the ability to stretch out the width of faces, etc.

Played my first game tonight with the Magic against the Rockets. I am playing this game every year for a 1000 hours, singeplayer only. I never saw a variety in animation like I did in this game. Jump shots look different everytime, layups of course. But also smaller things like entry passes inside and the catches looked different so often.
I watch a lot of Franz and Mo at the World Cup right now and I saw some of those moves later in the game of 2k. That was wild to see.

What I recognized in terms of gameplay: Rockets played really realistic. Everytime their guards had a window, they shot it. Not that great, but they shot it.
For Orlando I struggled to creat outside shots, but I think this is realistic with my personal. But I had some great plays after cuts, which looked awesome.

I really struggled to get by players with my guards, as you can see with Fultzs stats. With Wagner I drove past a few guys, but Suggs and Fultz had no chance even against Van Vleet or Green. That felt a bit off.

But in general the first impression is a real positive one. I can't wait to get into the depth on things this year!

Playing on PS5 just makes me wish there was a proper PC release. Seeing all this 30 FPS nonsense in 2023 is just awful. At least the gameplay is 60fps but everything else looks terrible due to the frame rate.

The help defense slider is super sensitive and seems to be working great! There was no help per usual at 1st on PNR’s, DHO’s, & ISO’s. I then went & noticed some teams were at 0 help defense. I put a team at 100 and a team at 75 and help and rotations were solid every time. Rotated early & help came immediately. Good scrambles and x outs. Very encouraging!

Would you suggest putting it at 100 for all modern teams, Vann?

Also, are you doing any tendency or playbook edits this year?
