Ok, just finished my initial game with the new current Mavs on ps5. Thoughts are below. Keep in mind I played on pro difficulty, but set the rest up pretty much like I had 2k23.

New menus look good.
New intro to the game is nice.
New ProPlay mechanic with dribbling and jump shots is great. Tons more variety to in game action.
Players felt like they had more weight when getting around the court. Enjoyed the new tip in mechanic off rebounds.
Love the new paint defensive animations to contest shots.
AI seemed smarter on pro difficulty.
Had a camera cut during game a few times to Mark Cuban excited after good plays- really freakin cool.
Loved the new camera cuts from the crowd perspective coming back from half-time.
Love the new scoreboard with in-game states during the game.
Loved the new lighting displays between in-game timeouts.
Noticed a few new lines of commentary. Not a lot, but a few.
Dislikes (areas for continued improvement)
Noticed some in-game presentation eyesore / immersion killers (Ali's necklace is STILL over and/or clipping her coat during player interviews. I know this is a little thing, but I notice it and it distracts from the commentary. Fix it 2k.)
Noticed players like Dwight Powell (same hair as 23/22 game) Maxi Kleber (same face/empty stare) and Josh Green (same hairstyle as 23/22 game). Come on 2k. Please give these guys some love. You have an accurate picture for Powell, but his character model isn't updated??
I feel like character models overall need an upgrade. Tall players still don't feel tall in 2k. Players should have dynamic hair and it should work with sweat. Luka's hair NEVER moves, looks different over the course of a game or gets sweaty like it does real life. Dude sweats man. Also, Derek Lively II's head looks huge compared to his body. He's got the C Wood syndrome from 23.
Didn't seem like the sweat mechanic was working well enough overall. By the 4th quarter, players looked like they only just started and substitutions were good for the most part, meaning everyone played a bit.
Didn't have near enough foul calls on default.
Overall, 2k24 appears to be better than 2k23 in a lot of good ways, but doesn't raise the bar where it could definitely in others. With a custom roster and good sliders though, this could be another good year for sim gamers. 2k please don't constantly patch and change the gameplay. Fix problems yes, but please don't constantly patch.
