FIBA EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS CUP, USA TO HOLD A TEAM OF PROS FOR FIRST TIME
    JUNE 1985

The USA Mens Basketball have fielded a team of players from all over the NBA, and stole one from competing team.

John Stockton, cut from the USA 1984 team, has made the US FIBA Select Team. “It feels great, to be apart of this team. Loving the switch up of being apart of the summer tournament.

Michael Jordan, already in Europe for a Nike promotion, has denied reports to being apart of the team.

The most noted role player on the team is Georgetowns Patrick Ewing, which is using this to match himself with the greats. Some other noted players are Cetics Kevin McHale & Danny Ainge, Virginia Unions Charles Oakley and NAIA player Terry Porter. “This team is balanced, from NBA Champions to even a NAIA player, everyone is represented." said Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski.

After losing the NBA Finals, McHale and Ainge committed as it was a way to keep in shape and ready for the next season.

Louisiana Tech Karl Malone declined to be apart of the classic to prepare for the draft, but they were able to round out with former Notre Dame Jack Schultz. “Jack Schultz is seasoned to European basketball, as he played with Dogus out of Turkey last year. He is using this to test the waters as well before he commits going to back to the US for the NBA”

Team USA select will take on star studded Real Madrid, with players like Chris Marshall (Arizona) and Marquez Warrick (Northern Kentucky) flying out to take a look at the FIBA Championships. The USA Team will start their games on June 30th, right after the NBA Draft.

I started my Thunder franchise and I’m having a blast! I’m loving the roster, they have youth and shooters galore. It’s almost impossible to give everybody the minutes they deserve.

We’re sitting in 5th place in the West with a 10-8 record which is honestly a little better than I thought we’d be. SGA and Giddey have been carrying their weight and surprising spurts from Isaiah Joe(might be my new favorite player) and Lu Dort have kept us in, and even won us a few games.

Chet is obviously an intriguing talent, but his lack of strength had been getting exposed against bigger centers. The things Vucevic did to him shouldn’t be allowed in a game that children play smh. But I’m definitely looking forward to the future with this team.

      SGA- 26.4pts 5.6reb 7.3ast
      Giddey- 16.4pts 8.9reb 5.2ast
      Chet- 12.8pts 9.4reb 1stl 1.6blk
      MVP Isaiah Joe- 10pts 46% from 3

I hope you are giving my boy Micic some playtime?

The Thunder are definitely on the shortlist of teams for me to consider for a modern MyNBA. So many possibilities to build up on that talented roster.

I’ve actually been giving his minutes to Tre Mann. It’s strictly an age thing though, I prioritized getting the young guys minutes to develop them and get a clear idea of who I want around for the long haul.

I definitely recommend this team for anybody who loves a good rebuild. Between the star talent, young prospects and draft capital, there are a million ways you can go about it.

So I'm all over the place right now. Basically just experimenting with different MyNBAs to see what fits me best. I don't have the franchise mentioned in my last post.

I'll always play as the Celtics, regardless of what era I'm in. Looking at the 2000s/2010s because I want to play with Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. The latter has both of them immediately, but they are past their prime. The former only has Pierce initially, but if I sim a few years I can sign KG as a free agent and play with both of them at the height of their powers. So, I'll probably do something with one of those eras.

For what it's worth, 2009-2010 was my first full season as a fan. So in a sense, I joined this world right in between those two eras.

Also... did anyone notice the Magic are in the Atlantic division in the LeBron era? With no team taking their place in the Southeast for some reason.

That’s me with the bulls. I like modern era especially with pro play and the ticker and half time show. But I begged for Luol Deng to be added last year and he never was but he’s back this year and I’m having fun with him and Rose

Re: How’s your franchise going? NBA 2K24 thread

So the prospect of Dame going to the Raptors made me pause my modern day save, because if that happens I really need to switch to Toronto.

But since the game is so much fun I still want to play, so I started to look at other Eras closer. First I thought 90s, but the tendencies in the roster seems to be a bit off, because there was to much shooting in the 2 games I played to enjoy it. So I went a step back and started in the 80s and that is just lovely.

I wanted to start with the Nuggets again first, because Alex English is one of my favorite players ever. But then I thought that I spend so much time West last year, that I should look for a East team.

I had 2 contenders in the end: The Bullets, because playing an offense focussed on a player like Jeff Ruland is a funny thought for me. But then I thought about something else: I play the 2k series for so long now, but never played much with the Atlanta Hawks. And since they start the save with Nique in his second year, Doc as a rookie and Tree Rollins as a starting Center I was sold.

Here the gameplay really is different even with the default roster, because nobody can shoot anyway so that already feels more realistic. And controlling Nique is just so much fun, as is defending with Rollins off the ball for a possesion or two.

So that will be my team now. So far I only signed Mike Sanders out of Free Agency as my starting SG, because sadly Eddie Johnson isn't in the game and I don't like the random 2k faces in my starting 5 and I already have to live with Roundfield that way. First game against the Nets was a really fun affair with both teams playing a fast style of attack.

This is why this mode is so good.

Man I don't know who to start with.
I did the Rockets last year, so I'm looking for a change. I have narrowed it down to OKC and the Blazers.

OKC because they have nice youth, a ransom of picks, and a bonified star in SGA. But I hate their uniforms.
Blazers, to start the post-Dame era, so there's a massive trade chip. But once the trade is made in real life, I will end up restarting it to match that trade. I feel the Blazers will be hosed on any Dame trade, which will kill my interest.

Can't make up my mind on this.

The inevitable Dame trade will ruin your Blazers franchise, you should 100% use OKC. They’re such a fun team to use and there’s a million different ways you can go about the rebuilding process.

Re: How’s your franchise going? NBA 2K24 thread

Today, I launched my new MyNBA.

                      *LeBron era, Celtics
                      *29 game season
                      *5 minute quarters
                      *3-3-5-5 playoff format
*Foul out limit is 4, with the penalty being 3 team fouls to account for shorter games

I kept the core of the team intact and somehow managed to trade for Blake Griffin (logged in as the Clippers to automatically remove him from the untouchables list, but that's all I had to do to make them consider my offers). I have Rondo, KG, Pierce, Allen, Perkins, and Shaq as the only real players I didn't deal away.

I became curious about Griffin after he signed with the Celtics in real life, what it would be like to play with him in his prime, so this gives me that opportunity. Plan is a big three of Rondo, Griffin, and someone else to be my big three of the future. It'll either be a guy I created using Kobe's rookie DNA or a real player who hasn't joined the league yet, like Kawhi perhaps.

CHARLES OAKLEY BECOMES THE #1 PICK, BULLS GO FOR BILL WALTON
                          JULY 1985

The Chicago Bulls won the 1985 NBA Draft and picked first. They selected…..Charles Oakley from Virgina Union?

“He has shown up well for the USA Select team in the FIBA Championships. He knows how to contribute, he will do well for us” said Jerry Krause after the selection was done. Many have said that the Bulls must have something up their sleeve if they passed on Georgetowns Patrick Ewing. “Our focus is to surround Michael Jordan with great players. We need to have good team players around him and we believe Charles Oakley can be that enforcer.”

Michael Jordan, irritated at the Bulls front office at them passing Patrick Ewing, spoke to a few reporters at the 1985 World Basketball Championships. “Patrick Ewing is the future of the NBA. He can dominate, have you seen him in 1982? We could have been a duo, but the great thing is that the guy they drafted also is on the USA Select team so we will see. I think Charles contributed very well with McHale and Ainge on the team”. Michael Jordan is in Europe for a Nike promo tour with Italian teams, recently playing with Trieste for an exhibition game

The New York Knicks drafted Patrick Ewing, as he was a bit injured during the Championships. “I didn’t play to nmy potential, I think I learned that in some of these games, I have to take a seat back and try not to force things.” Teams like Real Madrid took advantage of the USA tactic to go inside and played more of a fast tempo game. Tomas Torres was HOT from the outside, using the game to announce his decision to one day play in the NBA. “I know I can compete in this league with these guys, got some good reviews in.” Torres finished with 26 points and six assists, leading the team in points.

Bill Walton, looking for a new place to call home, has been pursued HARD by the Bulls. ”Jerry Krause loves Bill Walton. He thinks he could make Jordan happier in Chicago with him in town as well.” says a Chicago Tribune columnist. The Clippers, owned by Donald Sterling, wanted to pus the envelope on how badly Chicago wanted Walton. “They wanted to get the first pick of the draft, Krause weren’t going for that. Walton is amazing, but the Bulls tried to swap other options.

Sterling then wanted Michael Jordan, so they the Bulls stopped the talks.” The Bulls then made a trade to newly moved Sacramento Kings, giving them Reggie Theus for a few 1st and second round picks. “Michael and Reggie were thought to be a duo for the Bulls, Theus at the two and Jordan at the three, but it just didn’t work out. The Bulls want to win now, Jordan wants to win now.

The Chicago Bulls are looking elsewhere for some more help in the paint. Kurt Rambis was a thought, but the Lakers price was to steep. Only time will tell!

Yeah, I'm going to go with OKC and maybe bundle a couple of their youngins for a star or semi-star player.

Waiting for the first roster update to go all in, but will mess around with it now to get a feeling of NBA 2K this year.

Its December 14th and the Wizards are now sitting at 14-8 which is good enough for second in the east, but also only one game separates us from 7th in the standings.

And we are entering what looks like the hardest stretch of the season with the following slate of games upcoming:

12/15 @ #1 Raptors (Vince dropped 55 on me to open the season)
@ Hawks (were #1 for most of the early season)
vs Memphis (will need this win lol)
                              @San Antonio
                              @Dallas
vs Detroit (been on a nice winning streak and now only a half game behind the Wiz in the standings)
                              vs Atlanta
@Orlando (currently one of the teams separated by a game or less sitting at 2 thru 8 in the east)
                              12/31 vs San Antonio

Its entirely possible I could end the month of December at .500

Michael Jordan wants to win, now. “We have a lot of people that do not want to win in this franchise. I don’t get it, we need to compete for the championship”. He along with Jerry Krause have not been seeing eye to eye lately. “Ever since the Bulls passed on Ewing, Jordan has been fuming at the Front Office. He feels that they are in a constant state of turmoil.” says an unnamed Bulls employee.

There are rumors saying that Jordan wants a move to Dallas, to link up with former Tar Heel, Sam Perkins. “MJ wants to reunite with his Tar Heel teammates, any way he can”. Another East executive says Jordan wants the Bulls to bring in a player like Terry Cummings for them to be able to compete.
