Re: How’s your franchise going? NBA 2K24 thread

I run a 29 game season MyNBA with 5-minute quarters (3-3-5-5 playoff format) in the LeBron era with the Celtics, as that is shortly after I got into basketball.

2010-11 Boston Celtics Season: 17-12, 4th Seed in Eastern Conference

First Round: New Jersey Nets, 5th Seed in Eastern Conference
    Game 1: NJN (Loss 57-54)
    Game 2: @NJN (Win 56-49)
    Game 3: NJN (Win 63-53)
    Celtics Win Series 2-1

Second Round: Miami Heat, 1st Seed in Eastern Conference
    Game 1: @MIA (Win 58-51)
    Game 2: MIA (Loss 62-54)
    Game 3: @MIA (Win 55-54)
    Celtics Win Series 2-1

Eastern Conference Finals: Chicago Bulls, 3rd Seed in Eastern Conference
    Game 1: @CHI (Win 56-52)
    Game 2: @CHI (Win 73-70 2OT)
    Game 3: CHI (Win 55-54)
    Celtics Win Series 3-0

NBA Finals: Denver Nuggets, 2nd Seed in Western Conference
    Game 1: @DEN (Win 55-48)
    Game 2: @DEN (Loss 66-59)
    Game 3: DEN (Win 53-51)
    Game 4: DEN (Win 62-52)
    Celtics Win Series 3-1

One of the better runs I’ve made in my 2K basketball history considering I was 9-10 about two thirds through the season. Sometime in December, I traded for Steve Nash and Grant Hill in an all-in move for a championship. I seriously considered a coaching change part-way through the season (I was curious if that would actually affect anything noticeable), as it was a struggle to get above 500. Until I defeated the Heat in the 2nd round, I was not convinced I could go all the way with the way things were going, as New Jersey pushed me more than I thought they would in round 1.

We hit three game-winning threes in the playoffs, each by a different player; Nash against the Heat in game 3 of round 2, Pierce against the Bulls in game 3 of the conference finals, and Allen against the Nuggets in game 3 of the NBA Finals. All three of them were because I started drawing double teams with Garnett. The first was the biggest since it was a do-or-die game for each team. LeBron nearly hit a crazy buzzer beater after that, but fortunately for me it did not fall. For the other two, there was only a fraction of a second left on the clock so the game ended as soon as they inbounded it.

It is worth noting that Chauncey Billups fractured his leg late in the regular season, so he missed the entirety of Denver's playoff run. I think the finals would have been much tougher had he played since he usually torches me in 2K.

In the off-season, I traded Nash, Allen, and the 33rd pick for the 1st pick via Indiana. With it, I took a fake dude I created who has Chris Webber’s rookie DNA for his attributes. I gave him a Celtics tattoo and named him after my cat haha. I also drafted Kemba Walker with the 8th pick (had that due to a previous trade).

Yao Ming was probably my most notable free agent signing. I also retained Grant Hill and Shaq (though my guess is they both retire after the upcoming season). Also, Shaq appears to have reverted back to his rookie look (glitch).

Second season of Magic/Bird Era playing as the Bulls. Bulls drafted Mullins and made the playoffs. They have to play the 76ers first round though. Malone went off with 44 points and 24 rebounds. Jordan had a good game in the loss with 33 points.

I'm playing in the Jordan Era and playing with the Cavaliers. 2 and 2 so far. I'm trying to make Mark Price a future HOF.

83 Lakers improve to 4-0 beating Kings 114-95. Kareem and Magic Johnson dominating. However Kareem will sit out next game vs the Bulls with a twisted ankle.

Playing a modern era Lakers Franchise, i want to see all the pro play added. Currently 12-1 record but winning the games by a minimun margin.

Playing 6 min/quartes, simulated to 12, and i dont like how the cpu opposite teams manages the minutes of its players, especially the stars, who are playing an average of 22 minutes per game, out of 24. Some like Tatum have played the full 24 minutes with injury.

This causes the best players to finish the games scoring me over 25-28 points, which simulated are all games of 50-60 points in 44-48 minutes of action... That is, all the stars make career hights against me.

I find the simulation to 12 minutes stats really messed up. Thats why I have to at least play 10-12 minute quarters without sim stats.

Yea I’ve done 6 min played normalized to 12 min and stats end up wonky. This year I tried 9 min played normalized to 12 min and it wasn’t too bad. But at least so far I’ve settled on just playing 12 min played quarters, short 22 game season in Magic/Bird Era. Reason I choose short season is because I also want to play 90s, 2000s Eras and modern.

I’ve been think of doing a 44 game season with 5-5-7-7 playoff format. But so far I’m plugging along my 22 game season with 1-3-5-7 playoff format.

SIXERS BACK TO THE FINALS? DRAFT NEWS?
                  MAY 1985

The 76ers are looking amazing, with rookies Charles Barkley and Alan Verem, they are a tandem to combine with Moses Malone and Julius Erving. “We weren’t trying to get the best player in the draft, it worked out though. These two players are good team players, not individuals.”

Barkley and Verem became All Stars this year and made an impact, with Barkley almost being the NBA ROY. “Michael Jordan is a star, but he watching me from home now” Barkley joked. The Sixers are fighting for another chance at the NBA Finals, with Julius Erving close to putting up his sneakers. “We understand we don’t have a lot of time with Dr.J, so hopefully we can make a patch in the NBA Playoffs this year” says Varem.

The Boston Celtics play the Sixers again for the right to go to the 1985 NBA Finals, with them continuing their long lasting rivalry. Over on the West, it is the battle of Los Angeles: Lakers v Clippers

                  DRAFT NEWS:

BJ Dennis, Ramon Ramos and Demarcus Price are some of the recent rumors to join the 1985 NBA Draft class. “Ramos wants to leave the USSR, but the team is holding him until after the FIBA European Champions Cup” says his agent.

With the USSR and US still having relation issues, its been a problem for players to leave for the NBA. Demarcus Price is in the middle of negotiations, the USA Select National Team is watching closely to entice him to play for them next year.

Michael Adams of Boston College has become a top player in the NCAA, with his draft stock going up. Chris Marshall of Arizona has been rumored to end conversations with agents as he is thinking of staying in school.

Every year I do a Wizards franchise but this year I want to switch it up a bit. The only problem I’m having is deciding which team to run with. The Rockets, Thunder, Pacers and Suns(I know they’re not rebuilding now but they’re screwed in the near future) all seem like they’d be fun. Any help deciding would be greatly appreciated.

Are the gameplay and changes made in 2k24 enough to warrant a move from 2k23? I don't play anything but this mode and just not sure if I should drop $70 on it.

Are you guys messing with sliders to get realistic stats and gameplay or are you able to just enjoy out of the box?

Thunder. SGA would be fun as hell to use. Plus they got a nice young team there.

Currently sitting at 13-6 with the Wizards.

Jordan is averaging 25 a night and has recently dropped 54 on the 76ers.
Francis is giving me 22 and 9 and in the most unrealistic stat of them all is averaging less than 1 turnover a game.
Hughes is pitching in 14 a game.

Cavaliers are trying to tank for LeBron; they started the season 1-13 but recently got foolish ideas and went on a 3 game winning streak to put them in a tie with the Knicks for the worst record in the league. Hawks are the surprise team so far, sitting 1st place at 15-3. 76ers were tied with them, but recently lost Iverson for two months to injury. And the Pistons are currently outside the playoffs at 9-8 but it is very early. The Nets are looking rough also at 5-13.

I dropped my last game against the Bucks. Redd dropped 46 on me and Allen pitched in 26. Offball screens are far too effective. There's no sense of urgency on defenders and they don't have awareness in how to get around screens. For example offense runs a pin down screen, Ray Allen runs off it to the wing to receive the pass. His defender runs into the screen, then does that looong animation where he dances with the screener (runs into him, puts a hand on either shoulder then kinda bounces back and forth) and then in the most facepalm inducing moment of all, he gets over the screen on the baseline side of it. Bro Ray went the other way.

                                GM3 1991-92 Season

                                (0-1) Dallas Mavericks @ (0-2) Chicago Bulls

With losses to the Celtics and Warriors to open the season Chicago welcomed Dallas into Chicago Stadium. And Jordan made it his mission to run Rolando Blackman and Derek Harper out the gym. Jordan would have 32 points, 5rebounds, and 6assist in the game.

Pippen wouldn't have the big game he had but his 13pts and 3 steals were vital to the teams success. Horace Grant finally showed up big for the Bulls with 15pts and 10 rebounds. Cartwright also grabbed 12 boards to go along with his 7 points.

For th Mavs Rolando Blackman led the team in scoring with 23 points with 12 coming in the 4th quarter. Derek Harper would chip in with 12 of his own. As the Bulls would roll to a 77-69 win
