We are doing far better than I thought we’d be doing so far, the sim seems to think pretty highly of a team that I don’t this is necessarily constructed to win right now.

I play 10min quarters on Superstar difficulty and I play 1 game every week while simming the rest so I don’t have TOO MUCH influence on the teams success. It adds the challenge of building a team I enjoy playing with and also plays well while simulating.

    Player Stats:
    Jordan Poole- 26.2ppg 5.2ast
    Kuzma- 19.5ppg 6rbs
    Kispert- 13.3ppg 49% from 3

There are clear holes in this roster but I’m not sure if I should make a move or 2 before the deadline or just ride the season out and start the actual rebuild in the offseason. I guess I’ll see how the next week or so goes.
So I ended up trading Kuzma at the deadline to the Thunder for a 2024 unprotected 1st that belonged to the Rockets. I usually don’t accept trades proposed by the CPU but I just couldn’t resist that one. We finished the season 48-34 and the 5th seed in the East. It was clear we didn’t belong there as the 4th seeded Celtics easily swept us.

That Rockets pick we got from the Thunder turned into the 6th pick in the draft. I originally was planning to trade the pick but when I saw Stephon Castle fall to me at 6 I swooped him right up.

The money I saved on Kuzma I used to sign OG Anunoby to a 3year 100+ million dollar deal. I rounded out my roster with Miles Bridges, Isaiah Hartenstein, Kenrich Williams & Nerlens Noel.

My rotation going into year 2:

    PG: Poole/Tyus Jones
    SG: Kispert/Stephon Castle
    SF: Anunoby/Coulibaly
    PF: Avdija/Bridges
    C: Gafford/Hartenstein

Can’t wait to get this season started!!

LOTS OF COSMETIC CHANGES – NETS, PACERS AND MORE
      JUNE 1990

The NBA isn’t expanding outward this year, but inward. Many teams are changing their look into the 1990s and getting help like the Pacers.

The Pacers, Nets and others are changing their looks and there has been discussion to expanding how many uniforms a team can have. “We are definitely looking to adding a third uniform for select teams in the future. Giving our fans an option to wear something different during game days and even having uniforms for special days like the All Star are definitely things on the table” says David Stern. The Pacers new uniforms were supported by American track star Florence Griffith Joyner.”It’s a great thing to have a woman that accomplished so much in sport to be able to lend her eyes for our next set of uniforms” said Reggie Miller

The Philadelphia 76ers are taking a look into changing their look as well. “We have bee nknown to have a classic look, which is great but we also need something dynamic” said the Sixers Assistant GM. “I don’t agree, whats wrong with the uniforms we have now? They are fine, we don’t need to mess around with these” said Charles Barkley when asked about the prospect of a uniform change. Other teams that have been contemplating new designs are teams like Dallas, New York and even Chicago.

Re: How’s your franchise going? NBA 2K24 thread

So we're at about the mid-way point of the season, and there have been quite a few of surprises that are worth noting.

The current top teams in terms of standing are:

        West: Dallas, OKC, Memphis

        East: Cleveland, Miami, Charlotte

Dallas has really gotten behind their new coach, and Luka and Kyrie are playing excellent basketball. Both are currently averaging 30 PPG (with Luka averaging a triple double), and they have been managing to hang with the best the league has to offer. There are talks that they might be interested in grabbing the Bulls Caruso or Jose Alvarado from the Pelicans to strengthen their guard defense, but they are in no rush to do so. Luka is currently the leader for MVP

The OKC Thunder have finally taken the leap that everybody was anticipating, but Shai's health has been the biggest concern. Seems like he's always picking up minor injuries, and the Thunder's offense just dies when he's not on the floor. A reliable second option might be something they look into (such as Kyle Kuzma or Lauri Markannen so they can offload some draft picks), but they are going to wait and see if Kevin Durant asks out. The Suns are currently struggling, but the bottom of the West is pretty subpar so it is very possible that they can turn it around and reach the play-in spot again and make another run. Unlikely KD gets traded midseason, but Bradley Beal could be shipping to Brooklyn since they lost KAT for the season and need a guard who can initiate the offense and take some pressure of Mikal Bridges to create.

The Grizzlies aren't playing the same pace as they were last season, but they do seem to be a much more physical team in comparison to last year. They traded for Kispert to add another 3 point shooter, so we will see if he has the Konchar magic that they had last year.

All in all, a lot of the teams out West that were successful last year are struggling to replicate the same success (We're looking at you, Lakers) but there are some proposed deals with the Pistons that are in the works that could be enough to save their season (Wiseman and Rui Hacimura swap).

Re: How’s your franchise going? NBA 2K24 thread

In the East, the Cleveland Cavs have been absolutely electric and are playing amazing basketball right now. Darius Garland has been looking like an MVP caliber player, and has been the leader while Donavon Mitchell has become the secondary scorer. Even with Issac Okoro missing a month of playtime due to injury, they have still managed to stay on the top of the standings. Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen are becoming the formidable duo we always expected them to be, as they currently have the best defense in the entire NBA.

Miami has also been playing great, as it appears that all they needed was a point guard that wasn't Kyle Lowry to help them get back on track. Malcolm Brogdon has this offense looking fantastic, as they currently rank top 5 in PPG, top 3 in assists, and top 3 in FG%. They've been playing team ball, and as a result they are in the thick of things in the East. It seems like Tyler Herro's ball stopping was just what they needed to take to remove themselves from to reach that next level. Beneficial for him too, as he has been cooking off the bench for the Detroit Pistons.

The Hornets have also been a surprising team as they have taken the playoff sweep from last year at the hands of the Sixers personal, and are off to their best start in quite a few years. I haven't had the chance to catch a game of theirs yet, but my best guess is their defense has been the reason for success.

The East has been an absolute battle so far this season, as the teams 1-10 are about 5 games apart from each other. The standings could easily look completely different in a month, so it'll be interesting to see who comes out on top when all things are said and done.

This upcoming draft class is also one of the BEST draft classes I've ever seen as well, so it'll be interesting to see what teams decide to tank at the trade deadline to strengthen their chances at getting multiple generational players. It seems like from 1-15, there is going to be a stud available for taking that can help any team, so it'll be interesting to see what happens. And if an already great team gets to draft a stud who can make an immediate impact, look out.. there might be a dynasty on our hands very soon.

It's weird. The last year I basically just wanted to play in the older eras, this year I can't really get much going there.

The other problem was, that I couldn't decide on a team to use. Too many options!

So now for the first time I'm playing one team per conference. Thunder in the West, Cavs in the East.

The combination of Garland and Mitchell is so much fun and then you have Mobley wracking havoc in the defense.

Same with SGA and Giddey, the playbook for the Thunder really make them shine.

I think this really is the only solution this year with so many intriguing options.

DRAZEN PETROVIC TRADED TO NETS FOR ROOKIE ANDRE BROWN
                DECEMBER 1990

The Minnesota Timberwolves have made some moves to get things rolling, and it seems they are trying to go younger.

The New Jersey Nets have been trying their best to get a point guard for the future, drafting Andre Brown from Duke this past June. Drazen Petrovic, which was selected In the expansion draft from Minnesota, has been looking for a place to land. “I think its time to move around from the Timberwolves soon, I may not be their future PG” he stated during a discussion on NBA Inside Stuff with Ahmad Rashad.

Andre Brown , fresh from being drafted by the Nets, was looking forward to learning from Andrew Black and Derrick Coleman. “The NBA is a business, so this may be a chance that I have to be able to accelerate my learning” he spoke to the press over the phone shortly after the trade happened.

Brown is looked at as a future star, hailing from prestigious Duke and playing under Coach K for a few years. “He has an opportunity to fail without issue. Domestic players coming to the NBA are at an advantage versus tose that come from Europe. In Minnesota he can grow into a leader”

Only time will tell if this helps or harms.....

Re: How’s your franchise going? NBA 2K24 thread

I'd like to play in the 2000s, with my Celtics.

I'm role playing a bit here, but I'm pretending Kevin Garnett requested a trade five years earlier than he actually did and acquiring him at the start of the 02-03 season. I'm doing this because I want to play with him and Paul Pierce at the height of their powers. Besides, KG once stated that he wishes he came to Boston sooner haha.

The question now becomes, how do I come up with a semi-realistic trade for him? My initial thought is Antoine Walker and some first round picks for KG. I'd liken this to the Raptors trade a few years ago somewhat, as they gave up a package that included an all-star in DeMar DeRozan for a superstar in Kawhi Leonard. If anyone reading this has a proposal based on the Celtics roster in the game in the Kobe era, I am open to suggestions.

Re: How’s your franchise going? NBA 2K24 thread

By the start of the 02/03 season, KG was a 5x All-Star,2x All-Defensive member (both first team) and had made four All-NBA teams (one first, two seconds and a third). He had just turned 26 and was the face of Minnesota, and he would have been close to the most untouchable player in the league in terms of being able to acquire him. Although, his two best seasons were 02/03 and 03/04 so they wouldn't have happened yet by that point.

Tbh I'm not sure you could come up with even a semi-realistic trade proposal that didn't include Pierce. You'd probably have to create the narrative that he was sick of first round exits and had demanded a trade, but even then it's hard to see what other assets Boston could come up with if not Pierce.

Is that massive deal he signed in 1997 due to expire at the end of 2002/03, or did he sign an extension beforehand? If he's expiring it might be easier to justify,

Thank you for your well thought out response! Much appreciated.

In the game, he's a free agent after the 03-04 season, so if I did do this, I'd have him for at least two years.

I agree that's it hard to justify what I'm trying to do... it probably makes more sense to just simulate two years and get him as a free agent, I just hate punting on seasons haha. But I suppose I could treat this as a rebuilding process.

All good, I love this sort of thing haha.

You could always offer 'Toine out around the league and see if a team really wants him? He was still in his prime around 2001/02 so a team may overpay. You could then wait and see how Minny does in 2002/03 - if they're struggling at the deadline they may be more open to a trade, and if you're struggling as well without 'Toine then your pick is more valuable at that point, given the 2003 draft class.

JULIUS ERVING IS BACK IN PHILLY: SWAN SONG TIME
                            FEBRUARY 1991

Julius Erving is closing out his time in the NBA, along with closing a chapter in New York. “Being able to come to New York again and play for the Knicks for a season and a half was amazing. I know this is the end of my time in the NBA so I think its important to finish it out in Philly”

With the complicated history of Julius Erving and his contract dispute when the Nets came into the NBA after the merger, Erving felt the move to New York was “apart of closing the chapter”. I played for the New York Nets, bt playing for the Knicks was interesting. Being able to represent NY in the NBA and pass through Rucker Park everyday was awesome. Its just now getting back to basics”

The Knicks have decided to trade for Gene Miller, to polish in his young career. “We love what he was able to do in France, we are building for the future. Thank you to Julius Erving for everything” stated the New York Knicks GM.

The Sixers are excited to have Erving back in the red and blue, especially in the new uniforms. “This is a different look than I am used to, but it still says Sixers” so its okay!” Erving said as he was asked about the new uniforms.

I want to become ok with simulating games. It would allow me to actually do one of the longer seasons.

Without divulging too much, I have OCD, so giving up control of something isn't easy for me haha.

Right now, I'm thinking maybe I just play around ten handpicked games per season, sim-casting the rest (jumping in late if I so desire), and doing the playoffs in their entirety. I play short games anyway, so this should be doable for me.

It's a goal to work towards haha.

Have you tried siming the games and then jumping into them if its close in the 2nd half? that way you still decide the winner
