2006-07 Boston Celtics Season: 11-3, 2nd Seed in Eastern Conference

First Round: Philadelphia 76ers, 7th Seed in Eastern Conference
Game 1: PHI (Win 56-49)
Game 2: @PHI (Win 61-48)
Celtics Win Series 2-0

Second Round: Miami Heat, 3rd Seed in Eastern Conference
Game 1: MIA (Win 74-64)
Game 2: @MIA (Loss 69-66)
Game 3: MIA (Loss 78-69)
Heat Win Series 2-1

Trailed by double digits to Miami in all three games, and was only able to dig out of that hole once. The Heat had Gilbert Arenas (who was phenomenal), and would end up rallying down 2-0 in the finals to defeat the Spurs and claim the NBA championship. KG once again won regular season MVP (his third overall and second as a Celtic), but has yet to win the big one.

Traded up to #3 to select Al Horford. Also Utah gave up on Deron Williams, so I signed him.

Obviously I have a bias towards players that were Celtics at least one point in their careers. A loaded team, but I think it has to be when playing on Hall Of Fame difficulty.

* #31 was retired in honor of Cedric Maxwell (in 2003 I believe). However, it is not retired if you start in the Kobe era, and Joe Johnson actually wore that number during his original stint in Boston, so I was able to give him that.

Also, I neglected to mention that I simulated and heavily manipulated the first three seasons of this MyNBA (03-05). I'll post how those years went in a later post if anyone is interested.

NBA ALL STAR DRAFT: USUAL SUSPECTS!
JANUARY 1994

Michael Jordan has had an interesting year personally. His father survived a near fatal incident that was undisclosed, along with gambling troubles with the league. “I do not have a gambling problem, it’s a hobby of mine”. With all that being said, he is the East team captain, gaining votes over everyone in the league. “Its amazing that the fans supported me through everything of this ordeal, truly humbled”



On the West side, Gary Payton is team captain. He has enjoyed quite a year himself, and picked a nice side from the draft. Including players like Jontay Scott, Hakeem and Miguel Jordan, Gary’s starting lineup looks very good on paper. “My viewpoint is to mix the new with the veterans, usually the new guys do well in these games so I want to make sure I had 2 time All Star Miguel Jordan in the mix as well”



Michael Jordan has always been a loyal person and even told Gary beforehand that he wanted a few players on his team. “Gary and I chatted, and we agreed on some players that we made sure that the other wouldn’t pick” Jordan laughed. His picks: Magic, Shaq, Muggsy and Karl Malone. “I told Gary I was choosing Magic first and he said as long as he gets Dream, that its fine”

A few other selections out the bunch that are new on the reserves: Rene Joseph (Gary), Ed Pinckney (MJ) and Jerome Kersey (MJ). “MJ kept on telling me that Charles and BJ were his, I just made sure to get that boy Tony Campbell” Payton exclaimed.

ALL STAR WEEKEND 1994: No Surprises Here
FEBRUARY 1994

Calbert Cheaney has come out as a future star this weekend, going off for 26 points and three rebounds in the Rookie Showcase. “Have to show the league that I am coming, you will see me playing on Sunday whether you like it or not”. Isiah Rider of the Timberwolves was also holding down the fort with 12 points and eight assists. “This is a team effort, just glad to be apart of this weekend really” Rider stated afterwards. Chris Webber led the other team with 23 points and four assists, while Yaga Ramos had 16 points.



Fernando Chavez of the Sacromento Kings went high in the sky and beat out Shaq for the Dunk Championship as well. “Had afew tricks up my sleeve for this, definitely can’t wait to add this to my collection” he finished off with.

The annual ASW game gave way to Team Gary Payton v Team Michael Jordan, with MJ squad winning 76-65. “Very defensive game, they wouldn’t allow any easy buckets!” said Magic. MJ was unfortunately sidelined again with a knee injury, but was glad to see the likes of Danny Ainge fill in.

Man playing in the modern era, it is so easy to have the cap situation go crazy. I'm glad they have the option to add more cap space to all teams in the offseason, but if you don't do this every year, the likelihood of your franchise being screwed up (having players who are 85+ OVR sit in free agency when season starts, teams not being able to fill roster because there's no money so they bring on all star level free agents on minimum deals) is bound to happen.

Makes me not even want to play anymore ngl lol.

NBA DRAFT 1994: Jason Kiddin!
APRIL 1994

California’s Jason Kidd is on top of the board for the NBA Draft Preview presented by Sporting News. “Jason Kidd is the next generation Magic Johnson, some say he is going to be better than the magic man” said Ahmad Rashad during last weekend “Inside Stuff”. “There are a lot of teams that are interested in moving up. Miami and even Chicago want to see about making a way for Jason Kidd” stated Jack Ramsey



Two names that are jumping up draft classes, Neil Mullin (Duke) and Jalen Rose (Michigan) are climbing with each day. “Jalen Rose knows he can score with the best of them, Neil Mullin can start on an NBA team right now” said Jack Ramsey. “Many people are saying Neil Mullin will be Player of the Year, that should help hois draft stock” stated Hubie Brown. “Jalen Rose is very lanky, but as a left handed shooter, he can get the shots off” he finished off.

How do you keep the players getting drafted by the actual team they got drafted by in real life? Maybe you control all teams?

Are you also manually moving players, through trades and signings, to keep them mirroring real life?

I control all teams during the draft and right before the trade deadline.. I use a laptop next to me in order to get them to mirror the transactions. Gotta add a little random here and there lol

NBA PLAYOFFS 1993: Bulls & Sonics finish uo their first round
APRIL 1994

The Bulls brought the brooms out for the May flowers, sweeping the Miami Heat after a game winner by none other than MJ. Jordan finished with 24 points, but was the Robin to Horace Grant's 29 points in the Game 3 victory.



“I had to end the series, when I received the ball I knew what time it was. The Heat were playing a good job on us, Pippen couldn’t get started so Horace really got us going. Jordan stated right after the game. Rony Seikaly was the hot man for the Heat, finishing with 27 points and 11 rebounds. “Chicago is a great team, definitely wasn’t expecting to go on vacation this early but it’s a learning lesson” stated Glen Rice after the defeat. He had 11 points and three rebounds.



The Sonics punched their ticket to the second round after beating the Portland Trail Blazers 3-1 in their best of five series. Gary Payton had 25 points with three assists. “The Blazers are a good team, but we just wanted it more. Michael Irving can play, and excited with what he will do in the future with this team” Payton finished off with after.

92 Playoffs Jordan Era

Bulls has just finished 30-22 for the fifth seed in a season where they were expected to run away with the eastern conference. However, Championship hangover has hit everyone not named Michael Jordan this season.

New York Knicks(42-10) had the leagues best record, while the Minnesota Timberwolves (7-45) would post the leagues worst record. Jordan would make the All NBA 1st Team and All-Defensive 1st Team.

In the first round of the playoffs Chicago met the Cleveland Cavaliers led by Mark Price & Brad Daughtery. The first round predictions were Knicks Sweep, Bulls in 4, Nets Sweep, Pacers in 4, Blazers in 4, Rockets in 5, Lakers in 4, and Jazz Sweep.

The actual playoffs would playout with Jordan going crazy and setting a playoff scoring record in a blowout win. over the Cavs in Game 1. Bulls fans felt confident of the sweep. Game 2, Jordan would follow up his 69 point game 1 with a 51pt game 2. Jaren Jackson a late season free agent pick up would go 6-6 from 3, the 2nd most in a playoff game in NBA History. With the Bulls up 2-0 and going back home to Chicago second round was just on the horizon. Game 3, the Cavs would dominate refusing to go home going 2-1.

Game 4, Cleveland stood tall late and held on to take the series back to Cleveland for a closeout game and the place where Jordan has averaged 60pts In the series. However Game 4 would see Jordan go down with a injury the Jordan injury would be too much for the bulls to overcome in Game 5 despite 23 from Scottie Pippen

As for the predictions Blazers in 4 over Warriors, Rockets Sweep over Suns, Clippers Sweep over Lakers, Jazz Sweep over SuperSonics, Knicks in 4 over Hornets, Cavaliers in 5 over Bulls, Bullets in 5 over Nets, and Pacers in 5 over Pistons

The Blazers would go to the Conference Finals defeating the Rockets in 5. Matching up with the Jazz taking out the Clippers in 5. The Clippers run led by Manning and Harper ends in the second round. Knicks would fall to the Cavs in six, and Bullets would sweep the Pacers. Cleveland would the move their way to the Finals in 7 over the Bullets to take on the Blazers in the NBA Finals.

Portland would sweep Cleveland to win the NBA Title and Clyde Drexler wins the MVP.


Robert Parish retired from the league and Boston retired his jersey.

The Ping Pong balls fell and Dallas hit the jack-pot and drafted Shaq. Atlanta got Alonzo Mourning and paired him with Dominique Wilkins. The Magic got Christian Laetnerr and Tom Gugliotta was paired with Denver Nuggets. While the Celtics landed Robert Horry.

Chicago on the other hand drafted Latrell Sprewell at 20

In Free Agency. Reggie Miller signed a 1yr Deal with Utah to play along Jeff Malone Karl Malone John Stockton. Larry Bird signed a 3yr extension. Charles Barkley went to Portland for 1yr, Anthony Mason signed for 4yrs with the SuperSonics, and Mookie Blaylock signed for 4yrs with Minnesota.

Chicago traded Scott Williams to Minnesota for Lucy Longley.

NBA FINALS 1994: SIR CHARLES V PATRICK EWING, LARRY LEGEND RETIRING?
JUNE 1994

The Phoenix Suns and the New York Knicks are in the battle for the NBA Finals, while certain franchises are figuring out their future.



The Boston Celtics, making a tribute to Larry Legend at the end of the season, are hearing that Larry Bird wants to retire for real this time. “We knew Larry was ready for the next step in his career, I think we all knew what was coming sooner or later” stated the Celtics GM.

Kevin McHale has also been rumored to ake that walk out the locker room with Larry. “They want to leave together, I think each of them are waiting for the other to make its mind up” the GM finished with.

4th season with the Hornets. We just made the Eastern Conference final last year, thought lost in 6 to the Cavs. Melo is a perennial All-NBA sort of guy, and Brandon Miller was just in the All-Star game. Other than that, we used the 5th overall pick in 2023 on a sort of glue guy that can play insane defense and hit threes. He's been solid. Oh, we also traded for Nicholas Claxton, and he's been fantastic. Hasn't repeated his 1st year DPOY (we got him in year 2 though).

BOSTON WINS THE LOTTERY: BIRD &MCHALE LEAVE
JUNE 1994

Larry Legend and Kevin McHale made a joint statement and discussed their love of Boston. “This city deserves better, the Celtics will be forever our team. Celtics for life, its time to allow the team to transform.” Larry Bird made appearances to entertainment late night shows being very happy with his decision. “I gave the team my all, the city knows how much I love them and their support. Looking forward to the next chapter”.



On a positive for Boston though, is that they have the #1 pick to find their replacement. “We lose some iconic players, but in return we are going to definitely find another one in this draft” said the Celtics GM. The team that gained second and third were Detroit and Dallas respectively. Grant Hill look to be the main person that teams go for as he is looked as the main target.
“I hope Grant Hill learns to enjoy wearing a jersey number that’s not 33 if he wants to be a Celtic” also stated Jack Ramsey.

A lot of other draft pundits are saying to look out for Neil Mullins from Duke and Alexey Adkins from Indiana. “Adkins and Mullins could be another part of the future of the league, stay tuned to what they are doing” finished Ramsey.

I decided to start with the trade deadline roster and sim the regular season from there. I'll be playing every game of the play in, and playoffs. Flipping a coin to decide home and away. I left injuries on, so there were some huge injuries going into the playoffs.
Play in: Kings 126 Suns 117
Warriors 128 Lakers 120
I was the Kings, Keegan Murray was huge, especially with Sabonis struggling.
I got the Lakers, could not stop Steph, he put in 59.
Suns 130 Warriors 106
I got the Suns, and this was not a close game at any time. Led from start to finish.
East Play in: Hawks 120 Pacers 112
Pacers are without Turner, and Mathurin, and it showed. Killed in the paint, I had no answer for the Hawks.
Magic 112 Bulls 104
Fun game that I pulled out late.
Pacers 119 Magic 111
Tough game, again without 2 starters. Paolo was a beast, pouring in 47, but I held on late.
