        PLAYOFF BLUES
        APRIL 1995

The Nets are looking good, but they are a bit late to the party.

“We are rallying late, and we may not really make the playoffs. The thing about it though,we are understanding each other as a team” stated Chris Morris. Morris has been in the middle of trade talks with the Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics. “The trade talks never bothered me, I just play ball and make sure we come out with wins. Whatever happens next year, happens. I don’t have control over anything anyway.”

Kenny Anderson and company have learned a valuable lesson during the end of the year. “We began to understand each others roles, we gave each other space and also learned how to properly give help. I think we started to surrender to trusting the person with the ball, that has led us to more wins”. In a win over the Los Angeles Clippers, Anderson scored 27 points and dished out 12 assists. “Trusting your teammates to make the right play has everything to do with how we have been able to climb the standings”.

Re: How’s your franchise going? NBA 2K24 thread

Started a franchise with the Houston Rockets in the Magic and Bird Era. I want to simulate and make decisions all the way up to this year.

I went through the first season. Being a Rockets fan my goal was to do whatever it took to get Hakeem Olajuwon, so I traded Ralph Sampson and my 2nd round pick to the Kings for Larry Drew and their first round pick. I also traded Elvin Hayes for a 2nd round pick.

This led to us having the worst record in the league, but thanks to the coin flip we ended up with the 2nd pick in the draft (behind the Chicago Bulls).

Now, I thought for sure the Bulls would take Michael Jordan so I was really pleased that I would end up with Hakeem... Except the Bulls took Hakeem.

So our Houston Rockets ended up with the GOAT, Michael Jordan!

Getting the GOAT means we have to do our absolute best to build around him, so this is where our moves start.

First we traded our #15 pick (from the Kings) and Wally Walker to the Suns for Larry Nance and a future 1st round pick. Then we did some salary cap maneuvering to end up with Cliff Robinson.

So our starting lineup includes Larry Drew, Michael Jordan, Larry Nance, and Cliff Robinson. Our last spot will either go to either Kurt Rambis or Craig Ehlo.

And now our journey to win a ring begins!

            1987-88

During Michael Jordan's 4th season for the Houston Rockets, we have now won the NBA Championship!

It took some major roster shuffling. I had to make many moves, including a trade for Darryl Dawkins. I signed Jeff Malone. I was able to pick up Rick Mahorn to bring some defensive toughness. We were able to get Dell Curry in the 1986 draft and Mark Jackson in the 1987 draft.

And at the trade deadline in this season we made a move for Darnell Valentine, which brought us an experienced PG that could take care of the starting lineup while Mark Jackson continues to learn.

            Our lineup looked like this:

PG - Valentine (80 ovr), Mark Jackson (77 ovr)
SG - Michael Jordan (95 ovr), Jeff Malone (80 ovr), Dell Curry (77 ovr)
SF - Kenny Walker (79 ovr), Jeff Malone (80 ovr)
PF - Rick Mahorn (77 ovr), Sidney Green (75 ovr)
C - Darryl Dawkins (81 ovr), William Buford (78 ovr)

In these playoffs we took down the Kings, 3-1. Then we swept the defending champions Blazers, 4-0. In the Western Conference Finals we went against the Lakers and in a back and forth battle we were able to win Game 7 in LA to take the series, 4-3. Then in the NBA Finals after going down 3-1 we were able to win 3 games in a row to beat the Bullets, 4-3.

Now that we were able to conquer that hill for the first time, now we try to see how many we can win with Jordan.

              1991-92

Well we were able to go back-to-back with MJ in 1987-88 and then 1988-89. After those seasons it has gotten more and more difficult to find true success. In 1989-90 we made it to the WCF but we lost to the Lakers in 7.

Then in 1990-91 we lost to the Warriors in the second round (they have David Robinson and Karl Malone, we struggle to match up with them). So after making some moves, we went at it again in 1991-92 in the second round... Except we got swept.

So obviously a change needs to come.

Here's the crazy part... One of the moves we made in 1989-90 was sending Darryl Dawkins and Allen Leavell to Utah which got me their 1992 Unprotected 1st round pick. And now Dawkins and Leavell are gone and the Jazz had the worst record in the league and we ended up with the first overall pick.

It wasn't even one of those situations where I did whatever it took to get that pick, we legitimately lucked into it.

So now we have possibly the greatest duo in NBA History... Michael Jordan and Shaq.

                NBA FINALS 1995
                JUNE 1995

Bring the brooms out, Orlando is getting a bit dusty

The Houston Rockets swept the Orlando Magic in four games, beating them in Orlando,FL. “This is amazing, after so many years of failing and failing, we finally did it” said Hakeem Olajuwon. Finals MVP went to Clyde Drexler, who made clutch shots during the stretch “Joining this team was the greatest thing that I did, very thankful for the Houston Rockets in believing in me”.

                OFFSEASON STARTS:

                - Ralph Sampson was seen in Orlando to watch the Houston Rockets win, and is rumored to look for a move this offseason. “Ralph Sampson wants one more chance, but will retire if need be” an unnamed source said
                - Stanford’s Byron Bowen is has put his name in the draft and signed

Well... This game just got me.

Turned on my Xbox, went to MyNBA and it did the "update required" thing. Went to save the game (which I know I did last night before I finished) and went back to the main menu, except it was taking forever. So I went ahead and force quit the game only to come back on and lose franchise.

I was at October 1992, but now I'm at October 26, 1984. My save says last played March 1st.

8 years of my franchise lost. Freaking disappointing.

NBA DRAFT LOTTERY: PISTONS WIN #1
                    JUNE 1995

The Detroit Pistons have won the #1 draft pick in the NBA Draft Lottery a few days ago.

“We are thankful for the opportunity, we want to have the most opportunities for next year” says Pistons GM. The second and third pics belong to Los Angeles, with the Clippers and Lakers following respectively. “Its Detroit v LA again, just this time its draft picks!” said Dan Patrick from ESPN.

The Lakers were a surprise as the Dallas Mavericks owned this before they traded it a few years back. “We bet on them to have a bad season actually, we are glad they didn’t put a protection” says the Lakers GM. “There are a few gems in this class, and we intend to find the All-Star in this class” he finished off with.

BULLSEYE: The Bulls are looking to make moves ahead of the NBA Draft with looking for a shot blocker or a rebounder. There has been discussions of trading for Shawn Kemp from the Seattle Sonics. “Shawn is an explosive all star, wouldn’t mind him coming to the team” said Michael Jordan. “Whoever it is, he just needs to gel with the team and be the package that we need, not what we want” said Scottie Pippen.

Yes I did. I made sure to save manually every time I was done too, but I'm not sure what happened.

I started a save in 1983-84 and started simulating through all the seasons not really controlling a team. I've noticed something really strange: everyone's speed starts decreasing rapidly around 26-27. Anyone else who has simulated a lot noticing this too?

I've messed with the attributes progression menu so speed and speed with ball wouldn't decrease so fast and it doesn't really do anything. 27 year old LeBron just went down 5 speed/speed with ball (he missed 6 games with a broken nose so no major injuries.) Most guards in their early 30's have speed in the 50's and 60's.

Does anybody else have a problem with how long it takes to simulate?

I play on the Series S and it's gotten to the point where I have given up. I started another MyNBA last night (from the modern era with my Rockets) and there are quite a few times where the game will get stuck on a day for 2-3 minutes before it finally simulates and continues. This will happen about once a week during simulation. Often times it happens after I change my Scouting targets and every once in a while after I decline a trade offer.

Am I the only one running into this?

                              JANUARY 1996

There are tons of teams making moves this new year,1996 is coming strong.

Jayson Williams was sent a few minutes up the street for Derrick Coleman, becoming a new member of the New Jersey Nets. “I’m with a team that wants me, that’s all that matters” Williams stated. Dana Barros was also anew member of the Philadelphia 76ers, being traded for Tim Perry. “The Sixers were very busy, they are trying to build up an important team, along with Shawn Bradley

The Nets are also making moves, along with Jayson Williams, they added Kenny Anderson. “Kenny Anderson is the future, he can keep the offense together and we love what he is about” said the Nets GM.

                                NBA ALL STAR WEEKEND 1996
                                FEBRUARY 1996

The stars were out, with the NBA wintertime classic putting together a memory that will last a lifetime

Reggie Miller and Michael Irving were team captains this time, and made some interesting selections. “I wanted to feature James Worthy, Shawn Kemp and even Toni Kukoc. I was glad that I was even able to select Kukoc, I know Scottie and MJ like to keep him with them” Miller laughed. On the Irving side, he made sure to put together the big three of the Phoenix Suns. “Barkley, Gil and Ceballos was chosen because I like team ball, why not? Scottie, Zo and Horace Grant were also some people I wanted to poach from the East” Irving stated.

The Suns and Bulls are top of the league, with the Chicago Bulls holding some of the high scorers in the NBA with Scottie and MJ. “The duo can score with the best of them, I mean two players on the same team that average over 20 points per game?” said Dan Patrick of ESPN.

DUNK ON!: Fernando Chavez will look to repeat as a Slam Dunk Champion as he will go against the likes of Kevin Garnett, Vladimir Stephania and Bob Sura. “Bob Sura is my pick, he can get up and down the floor and out the gym” said Dan Patrick
