I got 2 first rounders for DeRozan and Caruso from the spurs. I got the bulls pick back from them and a 25 1st of theirs. I got a first for Lavine. A 27 first for Williams and just dumped Vuc contract for expiring deals. I simmed a few seasons and signed Tatum and Luka in free agency. Also drafted a PF named Nelson Rodman who won rookie of the year and had Tim Duncan comp.

“I need some get back, lets get it started” said MJ as he went to start the 1990 NBA All Star Draft. First pick this time: Scottie Pippen”Loyalty, I know what Im doing this time” he stated referencing last years blowout loss. David took a page out of MJ and selected Karl Malone with his first pick.
MJ made sure to add the duo from the Pistons, having Isiah Thomas and Bill Laimbeer on his team, while David Robinson selected Magic Johnson from MJ. “Sorry Mike, I know you wanted Magic on your team. Gotta play a little defense onya here”. MJ undeterred also added Muggsy Bogues, Hot Rod Williams and UNC alum Brad Daugherty. “I have to at least play with my fellow Tar Heel.. Loyalty”

Re: How’s your franchise going? NBA 2K24 thread
Here's the team I drafted. Yes, I'm a Kentucky/Spurs fan. Yes, I'm biased.
C. Wemby
PF. Jarred Vanderbilt
SF. Keldon Johnson
SG. Tyler Herro
PG. John Wall
6th- Trey Lyles
7th- Seth Curry
8th- Nick Richards
9th- Gary Harris
10th- Danny Green
11th- Oscar Tshiebwe
12th- Patty Mills
13th- Chris Livingston
14th- P.J. Tucker
Did a fantasy draft. I'm probably only going to play one season, 29 games. Win or go home, 1 game in the playoffs. When it ends, I plan on starting another.
I play 6 minute quarters. Lost the first game 65-56. Lauri Markkanen lit me up. Jarred Vanderbilt was actually my best player. Wall had a terrible game. I'm going to start Seth Curry at PG next game.
Once again, Jarred Vanderbilt was my best player. He rebounds well, defends well, and hits the shots the takes. Wemby struggled this game going 4-11 from the field. Keldon Johnson also struggled with getting anything to drop. After going 3 for 3 from the 3 in the first game, I made Danny Green the 6th man. However, Danny Green struggled to make an impact in this game, only taking one shot and missing it. Nick Richards contributed well in limited minutes, finishing with 6 points and 6 rebounds.
Here's how my rotation looks for the next game.
C. Nick Richards
PF. Jarred Vanderbilt
SF. Gary Harris
SG. Tyler Herro
PG. Seth Curry
6th. Wemby
7th. Keldon Johnson
8th John Wall
9th Trey Lyles
10th Patty Mills
11th Oscar Tshiebwe
12th Chris Livingston
13th Danny Green
14th P.J. TuckerNCAA: Kentucky Wildcats
MLB: Atlanta Braves
NBA: San Antonio SpursComment

Re: How’s your franchise going? NBA 2K24 thread
My first foray into creating/editing videos. The cheese is heavy. But it was something I thought up to get me in the mood for a modern Era franchise.
My wife and I just had our first child, so this is what I worked on in my minimal downtime.
Plan is a mixture of play/sim. Try to be realistic - so no outlandish trades/instant turn around.
For example:
In online madden franchises, while my friends would blow up their teams and instantly trade for multiple top 15 players. And play in the superbowl every year. My approach was always a "ten year plan." Building through the draft and spending limited money. It was the only way to keep my interest high- even when my teams were bad.
I would love to make some "highlight videos" of the team - using gameplay footage. But with a baby in the house, i may just focus on streaming games for now.
Enjoy

Re: How’s your franchise going? NBA 2K24 thread
Jordan set a new Wizards playoff record as he scored 54 to eliminate the Magic in 4 games winning 3 games to 1 in the 1st round (I rolled back the change to round 1 being a best of 7 series)
I'm going to be honest, I was thinking all along how epic it would be to have a vintage Jordan playoff game in his 40 year old season but I really didn't think I'd get one.
But then in the first quarter he started getting easy buckets. Easy transition buckets or wide open Js from a slow rotation, the kind that didn't take a lot of effort. Then in the 2nd he just started cooking Mike Miller. Poor Miller could not stay in front of Jordan for nothing. MJ ended the first half with 29 points. Kind of a quiet 3rd quarter where he only dropped 8 but not going to lie, I was chasing that 50 piece in the 4th lol.
But I am just as happy he did it shooting over 50% finishing 20-39 from the field and 13-14 from the line.
Arguably the most impressive bit? After game 2 I put Jordan on T-Mac so on top of dropping 54 he held T-Mac to something like 24 points on 10-26 shooting. And this was following game 4 where he dropped 18 in the 4th quarter to seal that victory too. Just a truly historic performance for the ages.
(but I am also incredibly salty because once again there is a playoff stat bug where after round 1 all my guys show to have played 42 games in the playoffs. Unacceptable 2k)
Seeding wise the 5th seed Wizards over the 4th seed Magic were the only surprise. Round 2 matchups are:
(1)Lakers vs (4) Timberwolves
(2) Spurs vs (3) Kings
(1)76ers vs (5) Wizards
(2) Pacers vs (3) RaptorsComment

Re: How’s your franchise going? NBA 2K24 thread
Paths to a Championship: 4 Case Studies
Something a little different; I'm going to look at the last 4 CPU teams which have won a championship in my far future league and see how they found success. They are the New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Brooklyn Nets and Golden State Warriors.
New York Knicks
Champions in: 2060, 2061, 2062, 2063, 2065, 2066, 2069
In one sense this case study is simple: they drafted GOAT candidate Yao Zheng. An absolutely dominant PF at both ends of the floor, he was unstoppable bullying his way into the lane, a generational rebounder, an elite defender and good mid/3pt shooter and playmaker. A 50/25/5/2/4/1 on 19-25 FG statline in the playoffs might the best game of many stars careers. For Prime Yao, it was just another Tuesday.
Still, a single player can't carry you all the way to a championship, and the Knicks FO did a solid job over the years ensuring he had at least 1 All-NBA costar, starting with C Curtis Bryant, who mentored Yao in his early days, then SF Jimmy Best and lastly SG Keith Ewing for the last 2 chips. The other ingredient was shooters: Yao would dominate the paint, and the Knicks roleplayers would bomb away from 3. At their best they were impossible to defend and opponents could only hope to outscore them, usually with little success.
Favorite Knicks finals moment: 2062 finals against the Rockets, led by Center Charlie Bowen, himself a future HOFer and 3 time MVP (including that year). Black box sim puts the series to 3-3, at which point I figure I might as well jump in and watch the showdown in-engine. It's game 7 of the Finals, the biggest possible stage. Yao drops 80 points to set the playoff scoring record, bury Bowen and the Rockets and secure the 3peat.
Miami Heat
Champions: 2070
The Heat built a 'big 4' entirely through the draft. Starting with PF Patric Robertson (2nd in 2057), then PG Ed Campbell (19th 2059), they still managed to stay bad enough to later get SG Stevie Wood (1st in 2061) and then C Theo Clayton (1st in 2062). At their height all 4 were All-NBA level players, in addition to which Robertson was a DPOY winner and Clayton was a 3 time MVP.
How did they win? Well, pretty much by putting a stupid amount of talent on the floor. Which may explain why they only ended up with 1 championship. To be fair, for the first 7 years they were together, they had to deal with the Knicks dynasty constantly knocking them down, and if not that then the Gurovic/Holloway Bulls.
But the criticisms weren't without merit. At their best the 4 stars could play a synergistic, dominant game, but often only 1 guy would ball out while the others faded. And mentally the team often seemed weak, and would fold under pressure instead of rising to meet it. This was most evident in the 2071 finals where they rematched the Blazers who they had just beaten in 2070. On paper, the Blazers were aging and had only gotten worse. But the Heat got punched in the mouth at home in game 1 and just sort of rolled over en route to a 1-4 defeat.
But all that aside, they were a perennial 60-win team for a decade and did break through to get a ring.
Brooklyn Nets
Champions: 2072, 2073, 2076, 2077 (and still going)
The Nets are spookily like the Heat...except turned up to 11. They begin with drafting a star defensive PF and future DPOY, just like the Heat (David Moor, #1 in 2064), then a pair of star guards (Lamar Wright, #2 2067, then Curtis Justice, #1 in 2069). All 3 of these guys win ROY yet the team stays bad enough to get ANOTHER #1 pick in 2070 to draft ROY and future 5 time MVP Eric Wingate.
While the Heat had overwhelming talent but lacked synergy, the Nets have both. SG Wright is the clear cut no1 scoring option, coming off screens for pure jumpers or driving the lane for nasty dunks to put the ball in the hoop on disgusting efficiency. Justice is a 6'6" PG with elite point of attack defense who can abuse smaller PGs with post scoring. PF Moor is a perennial DPOY, and at center Wingate does a bit of everything, rebounding, defending and scoring at an elite level.
And where the Heat wilted under pressure, the Nets find another gear. My Bulls have held 3-1 and 2-0 series leads against them twice, only for the Nets to storm back with 3 and 4 straight wins. The key is their otherworldly defense: when they are locked in, it feels like there is nothing your team can do.
If not for injuries, they would have a 6-peat. And while David Moor is starting to decline with age, they're still by far the championship favorites in 2078.
Golden State Warriors
Champions in: 2074
Speaking of injuries, the Warrior's path to a championship was about being in the right place at the right time. They are also an example of a successful free agency build.
The Warriors were a middling team through the 2060's, but in 2066 they hit big with the 14th pick to land future star SG Dante Malone. However unlike the Heat and Nets this wasn't followed up by a bunch of other high draft picks. What the Warriors did have, in the 2071 offseason, was an incredibly clear cap sheet, with which they signed superstar PF Denilson Viana, as well as 2 other very solid starters, immediately vaulting their team into contending status.
While the team didn't quite gel in the next 2 seasons, by 2073-2074 they would establish themselves as the 1 seed in the West, and just in time for the Blazers, longtime gatekeepers of the Finals, to blow their team up and start a rebuild. And once the Warriors made it to the finals, a superior Nets team blew up due to injuries to both Curtis Justice and David Moor.
The Warriors would return to the finals in 2075 to get crushed by the Bulls, after which Viana would decline and key players would be lost in free agency. But for the one glorious year it all came together to land them on this list of NBA champions.
No Traders?
We see teams which built their core through the draft, a team which drafted a superstar and complemented them with costars from FA, and a team that got their superstar and important pieces mostly in FA. However no teams that built a champion with trades.
Unfortunately it's because the AI almost never does star player trades, and never does superstar trades. Even rebuilding/selling teams will stubborning keep the 'untouchable' label on age 30+ superstars when realistically they should be on the market. This is one aspect of manual interference I havn't dog into much but I maybe should.Last edited by aimlessgun; 10-29-2023, 11:20 AM.Comment

Re: How’s your franchise going? NBA 2K24 thread
Started a franchise with the ATD rosters and running with the Spurs just wanted some thoughts from anybody who follow them or know them quite well.
Obvs with Wemby they have potential superstar on their hands but was going to try and get them into the play in this year is their any moves they can do to get a 2nd guy in? I know Vassell and Keldon will probs have to be move on to get it done who would be someone they could get realistically?
