Holly, haven't been seen anyone like this in forums in these days for so long, u really need help in the real world to like help u figure out what is stuck in your mind so badly that u just have to win, win a conversation or whatever that there is no competition in the first place
n like said i am so sorry to use luka as an example, just pretend is someone else like a mvp version of ben simmons, yeah?
And the video I posted the title is called "LUKA IS UNSTOPPABLE." and explains much better how the man can dissect a defense.
But noooo, I just need to stop. Lol
Call me names, I'm crazy.
Make a point, I'm not allowed to post anymore.
Like I said... Whatever.Comment

The OP just happened to use the example of Luka because Luka is one of the top guys this is an issue with because even though he is listed as a PG, you damn sure don't want to throw your smallest player on him but thats exactly what the AI does.Comment

Re: CPU’s knowledge on matching up…
Luka is not really the point of the thread man. In this game the AI almost always just matches position to position. Your point guard will always be guarded by the other point, your small forward will always be guarded by the other small forward, so on and so forth. Thats the point of the thread.

Still asking for the alternative.
I gave an alternative earlier in the thread. Years ago, actually. Positionless basketball. Open up the floor.Comment

Re: CPU’s knowledge on matching up…
We gotta take steps. That would be the end goal, but before 2k can reach a point where it can have full on positionless basketball the AI needs to at least be advanced enough to know when there are mismatches. Right now 2k's AI isn't in a good spot and it needs to be in a great spot in order to have positionless basketballComment

Re: CPU’s knowledge on matching up…
Regardless of how unstoppable someone is, you put the person who would have the best CHANCE of Maybe getting a few stops.
OP is simply asking why the game doesn’t put OG on him automatically, the answer seems to be because 2k’s AI is not that advance at the moment.... But hey VC sale!!Comment

Dude I am literally looking at the giant Luka poster on my wall as I watch the Mavs game, but that’s not what this thread is about.

Re: CPU’s knowledge on matching up…
In 2K16 this was a feature of ACE, ex. Bulls vs. Cavs- Jimmy Butler was the starting 2 and obviously Bron started at 3. Instead of having Mike Dunleavy matched up with Bron though, ACE would automatically match up Jimmy with LeBron.
Maybe somewhere down the line ACE got broken, because I remember back then when it was first introduced it did a lot of automatic adjustments like that for us.Comment

Re: CPU’s knowledge on matching up…
I do think they probably were hard-coded at some point. I imagine the way it should be handled now would be tied into a certain ratings range on the offensive player (plus if he's outside the norms for a position in terms of height/weight) while also checking if there are any "elite" defensive players who fit the general range of height/weight while having certain defensive ratings.
It's probably not as straight forward as that obviously but I think the AI focus has turned more to defensive rotations and such rather than matchups in recent years.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update).
