All you guys thinking the lighting is better lmfao

You do realise they've rotated the camera at the perfect moment to get that pink tint from the stadium lighting?

You can get the exact results in the last 5 games.

The graphics and lighting have not changed at all,.

And the fact that official screenshots need to use the replay camera at certain angles is an an absolute and utter embarrassment.

Stop being fooled by these grifters.

I don't understand the obsession with all these details that have a very minor impact on my personal experience of immersion. Lighting, reflection, sweat, motion physics of hair, jerseys and all of that doesn't do much for me. Hell, for all I care they go back to jerseys just sticking to players if that means they can get the colors right, the courts right and work on that in the art department.

It's the combination of all those details that's the main problem. If it was just the lighting, just reflections, just jersey colors, just the body models, etc it would be easily forgivable but these are all areas of the game that have either been neglected or some how downgraded over time.

2K needs to take one year to focus on addressing all these issues with the art and they'd be good. It's like they've reached a point where, to them, the visuals are good enough.

I feel like there was a time when 2K would push themselves to take things to another level and that doesn't seem to be the case anymore, at least not in terms of visuals.

I really think that is 'rose colored glasses' or revisionist history, TBH.

They've almost always come out of the gates with the 'best looking' version of the game early in a console generation's life cycle, then slowly scaled back the graphics as they add more features (or improve the game's performance).

The last two generations of consoles saw this very situation play out similarly, but people have a more cynical/negative opinion of 2K/Visual Concepts/Take-Two today.

And I do want them to improve all those graphical 'issues' too, but the hyperbolic and exaggerated nature of people's complaining (as well doing it in every thread) becomes overwhelming.

Hopefully those people that want everything to look 'ultrarealistic' can migrate of to PC, now that it will be 1:1 with 'New-Gen' consoles.

Kind’ve answered it in your own post.

Everyone cares about something different…and 2K has the job of trying to make all of us all happy.

I prioritize gameplay and signature style so I enjoyed 24. How my digital court reflects is far down my priority list- but it’s huge for others. For you it’s colors and courts.

You might be right be right about the rose colored glasses, it just seems like the art and visuals get little to no attention year after year and that wasn't always the case. During the 360/PS3 era it they were making changes each year. We can argue if they were improvements or not but they were at least trying different things with the visuals throughout that generation. I think the series has look largely the same for close to a decade outside of going next-gen (and some will argue that wasn't that much of a jump).

It comes down to feeling like there are areas that can be improved that haven't been. It's a lot of little things that people have pointed out for years that aren't being addressed and it's disappointing.

I'm normally one to say it's not a big deal, the game still looks great (which I still mostly believe), but I'd like to see some of these issues addressed at some point.

Pac Hoops on YouTube mentioned that NBA 2k25 is using a new graphics engine. I wonder if he is speculating or maybe has some confirmation about this.

100% chance it’s not a new engine, however, I think skin tones are looking less dark and more natural. Also there might be new jersey physics, because I notice more wrinkles, especially around the Nike logo (which wasn’t present before)

Maybe 2K is adding the “Player Empowerment” era to commemorate the likes of KD, Kyrie, and Harden bouncing around the league? Could also name it the “Charmin” era for brevity and absolutely no other reason [emoji6]

I have skipped 2k every other other year for a while now. This is a year where I would skip it. So, unless there is significant change, I'm likely going to pass on this year. Especially with College Football 25 out

They could also call it the "Proto-Second Apron" era since that's basically the type of league the owners want now (except with duos instead of trios).

(Sorry, my second-apron hate is leaking...)

I would love for 2k to make a game like 2k12 with historic challenges from multiple players, not just one. They could even add new challenges every season

It's mainly that those little details are what brings the current gen graphics to life and they're things that have been in the game before so there's no reason to believe that they couldn't be again, especially on current gen.
