While I agree the meter is ugly AF and should be toggleable, I actually enjoy having to time the oop. Just press square right as the player should catch the ball, don’t even look at the meter.
Hopefully, but I’m starting to even tune out his blogs since we’ve had the exact same help defense issues for two console generations now. I appreciate that they fixed the hedge defender just standing still and watching us drive the open lane every PnR (how that ever made it into the game in the first place is still beyond my comprehension) but the same helpless perimeter rotations for a decade+ is just unacceptable.
I can only read 2K blogs saying “We’ve greatly improved help defense rotations to bring the most authentic defense in gaming history” so many times. Watching the Timberwolves against the Nuggets and Mavs this playoffs really drove home how impressive and enjoyable it is to watch a defense fight during every possession and rotate countless times, forcing the offense to use the rotational man’s momentum against him to drive the lane and force yet another rotation, then pass it out and do it again. You just can’t replicate that in 2K because the defensive rotation logic is just “Corner defender drop to the paint out of nowhere, elbow defender step over to the corner kind of, pray”.
We need 3-4 man rotational logic baked into the defensive system, not just the corner defender moving to a scripted area of the floor the moment the game thinks there’s an open lane to the basket.
