Hopefully, but I’m starting to even tune out his blogs since we’ve had the exact same help defense issues for two console generations now. I appreciate that they fixed the hedge defender just standing still and watching us drive the open lane every PnR (how that ever made it into the game in the first place is still beyond my comprehension) but the same helpless perimeter rotations for a decade+ is just unacceptable.

I can only read 2K blogs saying “We’ve greatly improved help defense rotations to bring the most authentic defense in gaming history” so many times. Watching the Timberwolves against the Nuggets and Mavs this playoffs really drove home how impressive and enjoyable it is to watch a defense fight during every possession and rotate countless times, forcing the offense to use the rotational man’s momentum against him to drive the lane and force yet another rotation, then pass it out and do it again. You just can’t replicate that in 2K because the defensive rotation logic is just “Corner defender drop to the paint out of nowhere, elbow defender step over to the corner kind of, pray”.

We need 3-4 man rotational logic baked into the defensive system, not just the corner defender moving to a scripted area of the floor the moment the game thinks there’s an open lane to the basket.

      Totally agree.

I have seen some rare instances of 'helping the helper' and the ball being swung around, but definitely not to the extent of real - life NBA basketball. Most of the time the rotating defender neither goes to the corner or stays with their man, they just stay in 'no man's land' (in between both) instead.

They've gotta figure out how to get more defensive concepts (individual and team) into the game without it completely breaking everything. Which is partly why the defensive concepts are/were broken, didn't work for a few additions, and needed to be re-written.

Why would they when they readily have customers ready to hand over $140 plus dollars easily to show absolutely nothing, but lip service.

Look to each there own, I purchased the last two editions because of what the represented, Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant.

Unless they literally update those my era modes specifically my purchase don't exists period.

And most of these people will rarely play anything outside of MyCareer and MyTeam online. They're more interested in breaking the game, finding the easiest jumpshot model, and/or building their YouTube "career." Playing with real teams, or anything single-player, is off their radar. This is why sports games are doomed to hell.

I would have preferred to hear more about how CPU defensive rotations were improved (particularly the low defender) rather than being told of another 16 ways I can shoot.

              Maybe that will come later

FWIW, I like the adjustment of player to court ratios. I was about to globally reduce all players by 3 inches before I found the 'nosebleed/skybox/whatever the furthest away is called' camera

I may be an idiot or just suck but that one change has killed that aspect of the game for me because it’s too risky. Make it dependent on badges for the passer and finisher but please give us that option back. I am thinking about doing a Spurs rebuild and man it be great to utilize CP3 and Wemby in the two man game.

Gotta agree. Typically these changes that aim at balancing online game or creating a skill gap online tend to ruin the offline experience.

Alley-oops, contact dunks and the practical removal of the 'lead to basket' button have really harmed my offline experience. Stats / movement should matter more than some meter.

A new dribble engine built from the ground up would've sounded great if we didn't hear that before.

The biggest engine upgrade in 15 years yet they only showed a few signature rhythm size-ups and some escape dribbles followed by generic stepback jumpers from the Xbox 360/PS3 days. This year Courtside Report was horrible.

Maybe it's true and the gameplay feels amazing. But it's impossible to tell from what they showed in the trailer/CR report.

Just ignore the meter. Tap Square when the player should catch the oop and you’re golden. That catch point is what the meter is representing.

Will the game add any new tendencies for The AI?

Every year They add new features/gameplay mechanics
That the AI doesn’t use at all or struggle to use in the right situation

Last year they introduced the blowout dribble in the open floor and every time a center or power forward got a rebound. They will spam the blowout dribble and try to push the ball up by themselves on almost every rebound (completely ignoring the point guard that’s next to him calling for the ball )

The AI takes bad angles when attacking the rim, rarely resets when attempting a drive (constantly ramming into the defender) And forces up bad contested shots most of the time. The AI needs to show more poise Offensively and have less of a tunnel vision approach

The AI could use new tendencies for certain badges so be truly utilize such as the scooper badge, chase down Badge and the break starter badge just to name a few.

With the new go to shots being introduced in 2K25 I’m really hoping that there is a tendency for how often they attempt a go to shots

With more tendencies, we could mitigate some of the AI’s bad habits (if it’s not hardcoded) which could lead to players playing like their actual self in game

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to seeing how it affects gameplay. It shouldn't be as easy ti provide Help defense or pass lane steals.

Yeah, I mentioned a lot of your (very valid) points in the wishlist thread.

The CPU plays way too 'robotic' and predictably even with major roster editing.

2K needs to figure out how to make the CPU seem more 'dynamic' on offense especially with the Curry's, Irving's and Brunson's of the NBA.

While also improving the defensive AI, otherwise things could become too one-sided. Although, one can argue that is more true-to-life with how high-powered offense is in the modern NBA.

Can't be Donovan cause he's way more defined and fit than all those other dudes.

Off-topic: How was it that none of the 4 best players (Mitchell, Garland, Allen & Mobley) on the Cavs got a look by Team USA? Kind of crazy to think how slept on that foursome is by ****** fans and apparently the wider basketball world.

Nevermind, Allen and Mitchell were in the pool of finalists for consideration but weren't selected. Kind of crazy cause either player or Mobley (he's American, right?) would've brought something different to the table. (Mitchell is a little redundant with Anthony Edwards already on the team, though.)

We have gone way too long without any new/major changes to AI tendencies, it’s long overdue

But it’s not just the AI tendencies that needs an upgrade. It’s also how the AI uses the tendencies. For instance, I feel that the AI doesn’t use spin layups/hop layups as much as they should even when you max out the tendency to do so.

Another area of improvement that I would like to see is layups and dunks. The AI seem to Penetrate way too far in the paint before going up for a layup, a floater or a dunk in the paint

The AI is way too reluctant to shoot after creating space off of a dribble breakdown on the perimeter and always look to drive instead of shooting a slightly contested shot Even if they have badges such as deadeye and blinders to mitigate the contest percentage

That’s why I’m hoping that the new signature go to shots are easily chain and link to dribble breakdowns and they attempt to shoot after creating some space on the perimeter
