Still, I do agree that 2K needs to take their atmosphere and presentation to another level at some point. Like other parts of the game that haven't gotten the love and attention that they deserve.

Yes! 2k needs to mimic the slow deceptive lackadaisical movement for certain bigs. Maybe this ProPlay "tech" can get player movements next.Comment

That might be true, but real life NBA games don't have even close to the same level of atmosphere as college football. The only basketball that matches that level of atmosphere is some college teams and EuroLeague.

ugh I hate to do this but just listen to how the crowd noise and all the bells and whistles seems to sound more natural compared to 2k's fake crowd noise.

Any update / knowledge / whisper about the PC version of the game other than it will be next gen? I wonder how it'll run in RTX 4080's and 90's.
Please share any details if any one of you knows.

The arenas in general could use a refresher. I'd love to see the colored ambient lighting in certain arenas like Philly and MSG.Comment

2k's crowd noise needs to have better transitions? They don't react at all sometimes on what's happening on the court. They need to go and record actual crowd noise and put it in game. CFB25 and Madden did it with their games and Live did it all those years ago.

How about we go deeper down the rabbit hole
All the way down to
NBA Live 10
You mean to tell me we been asking for Atmosphere since the PS3/Xbox-360 days
I still remember LD2k made a video about real basketball sounds on the hardwood and the community tore him a new one telling him that's all y'all went to the Arenas for no atmosphere
Then he replied with a slick lie and said they did that to but when the game came out it was still the same boring atmosphere here of today
I have a feeling 2k gonna keep adding little eras in until PS6 then maybe maybe hopefully they work on atmosphere which I doubt it unfortunately!Comment

The signature issues for me include:
1. Scoring a series of baskets in quick succession as the home team. Many times, the crowd response is sensible. Other times, the crowd will cheer after basket one, cheer after basket two, then if I steal and score a third time, the crowd will suddenly respond with active silence.
It's almost like the game doesn't know what to when crowd noise has crescendoed only for the home team to do something else positive in immediate succession.
In a perfect world, they'd need, like, one more level of crazy for those times when a home team has a particularly exceptional sequence, like so:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Lsvval6IBZY?si=MqZ7jVs-WUOQBSlk" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>
As it currently stands, Chauncey's layup in 2K would elicit either a generic excited crowd response or even indifference (since it also seems tied to the size of a team's lead).
2. Most game-winners at home are great. But I have encountered variance in crowd response, including multiple instances where the crowd doesn't really visually react and only gently reacts audibly. Ex:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/kSqU2I58p2s?si=AQphI8dAcAu1G5W8" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>
To be fair, they may have just been dumbstruck by Larry Johnson's decision to loop out toward half court first.
In contrast, here's a more typical response:

I consider the poor crowd transitions and logic to be a 2K legacy issue, just because it's been a lingering shortcoming for almost as long as I've been playing.

The truth is coming out slowly but surel Hopefully someday it reaches to the top
Fingers crossed 🤞Comment

For that matter, why did Custom Arena Sounds die with no one caring?Comment

It went away because the PS4 & XBox One no longer allowed you to copy music to your native hard drive. I think it in part happened also because Spotify became a bigger thing between console generations.

The tightening on licensing and copy write over the years has really taken away a lot of the cool things we used to be able in games.Comment
