    Clippers Ratings (Sept 2023)
    94 Kawhi Leonard
    82 Kris Dunn
    80 P.J. Tucker
    79 Norman Powell
    73 Nicolas Batum
    70 James Harden
    69 Kevin Porter Jr
    66 Bones Hyland
    66 Terance Mann
    65 Jordan Miller
    64 Amir Coffey
    62 Kobe Brown
    59 Derrick Jones Jr
    48 Mo Bamba
    34 Ivica Zubac

With the exception of Derrick Jones Jr (+19), and Kris Dunn (+1), not a single player's rating changed in 9 months.

      More on those Dunk ratings:

      2K24 Dunk Ratings (June 2024)
      97 Ja Morant, Zion Williamson
      96 Shaedon Sharpe
95 Anthony Edwards, Zach LaVine, Amen Thompson
94 Derrick Jones Jr, Aaron Gordon, Ausar Thompson, Scoot Henderson
      92 Donovan Mitchell, KJ Martin
      91 Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jalen Green
90 Miles Bridges, John Collins, Obi Toppins
89 Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, LeBron James, Anfernee Simons, Jericho Sims

Brown went up 7 points. Finals MVP boost. He went from 18th in Dunk Rating to 3rd.
The Thompson twins are both easily better dunkers.

      Amen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9_2utDhoP4
So athletic he actually plays more like a PF/C (Rockets were able to play him there when Sengun got hurt). Lots of Standing Dunks, but plenty of effortless/nasty Driving.

      Ausar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7dLnWp4v7M
Really no comparison. Jaylen is a much better Ball Handler / Driver and doesn't NEED an inflated dunk rating.

            Rookie Ratings

75 - Zaccharie Risacher (ATL), Alex Sarr (WAS)
73 - Reed Sheppard (HOU), Stephon Castle (SAS), Donovan Clingan (POR)
72 - Ron Holland II (DET), Rob Dillingham (MIN), Zach Edey (MEM), Matas Buezelis (CHI), Nikola Topic (OKC)
71 - Daron Holmes II (DEN), Terrence Shannon Jr (MIN), Cody Williams (UTA), Tidjane Salaun (CHA), Devin Carter (SAC)
70 - Dalton Knecht (LAL), Bub Carrington (WAS), Kel'el Ware (MIA), Jared McCain (PHI), Tristan Da Silva (ORL), Ja'Kobe Walter (TOR), Jaylon Tyson (CLE), Yves Missi (CHA), KyShawn George (WAS), Ryan Dunn (PHX), Isaiah Collier (UTA), Kyle Filipowski (UTA), Tyler Kolek (NYK), Johnny Furphy (IND)
69 - A.J. Johnson (MIL), Pacome Dadiet (NYK), Dillon Jones (OKC), Baylor Schierman (BOS), Jonathan Mogbo (TOR), Tyler Smith (MIL), Harrison Ingram (SAS), Kevin McCullar Jr (NYK), Jamal Shead (TOR), KJ Simpson (CHA), Bobi Klintman (DET), Adem Bona (PHI),
68 - Juan Nunez (SAS), Ajay Mitchell (OKC), Jaylen Wells (MEM), Oso Ighodaro (PHX), Nikola Djurisic (ATL), Pelle Larsson (MIA), Bronny James (LAL), Cam Christie (LAC), Antonio Reeves (NOP), Tristen Newton (IND), Enrique Freeman (IND), Melvin Ajinca (DAL), Quentin Post (GSW), Cam Spencer (MEM), Anton Watson (BOS), Ulrich Chomche (TOR), Ariel Hukporti (NYK)

-OVRs are likely much lower this year due to removal of half the game's badges. It isn't because this rookie class is weak. Risacher/Sarr's 75 is likely relative to something like 77-78. We'll find out for sure once they release non-Rookies (which they've been surprisingly quiet on this year - probably an indicator that they're lower as people would freak out if they released individually and players rated 3 pts worse than the year before).

-Salaun (6th) is outside the Top 10.
-Holmes (22nd) and Shannon (27th) made it into the top 15 rookies.
-Filipowski (32nd), Kolek (34th), and Furphy (35th) are the highest rated 2nd rounders at 70 OVR.
-Johnson (23rd) and Dadiet (25th) are the lowest rated 1st rounders at 69 OVR.
-Simpson (42nd) and Ingram (48th) and are the highest-rated 2-Way players at 69 OVR.
-Unsigned players: Nikola Djurisic (43rd), Quentin Post (52nd), Kevin McCullar Jr (56th)
-Playing Overseas: Juan Nunez (36th), Melvin Ajinca (51st)

As a general note I don't find these accurate because they're mainly adhering to draft position and not factoring Age and how NBA ready a player is.

For example, players like Zach Edey (22), Devin Carter (22), Dalton Knecht (23), Tyler Kolek (23), and Baylor Schierman (24) are significantly more NBA ready than say, 20-year olds like A.J. Johnson or Bronny James. They have higher floors, but also lower ceilings due to their age, which affected their draft stock, and that isn't reflected here.

^Now that we have some confirmation that OVR appears to be re-scaled, let's try to project what impact removing half the badges has on the OVR formula.

Adjusting for these changes reduced Brunson's OVR by 3 points in my roster (from 94 to 91).

Based on these Rookie ratings versus how 2K has traditionally rated them, that seems to check. We'll know for sure shortly.

I'm definitely okay with every player coming down by three, four or more points overall. It means the gap between 'tiers' widens (hopefully), badges matter more - still wish they would use them more for 'specializations' and stuff the ratings don't cover - and all players have more 'room for improvement' so to speak.

They'll likely use the pointless - only for overall ratings buffering - 'intangible' ratings to nullify as much of the nerfing as possible.

Less badges means players' ratings coming down from the inflation and overabundance of them for stars.

Actually, now that I think about it it could have the reverse of my desired effect. It could close the gap between tiers since the stars and superstars are usually given too many (especially Gold/HOF) badges.

Which can lead to them being OP and creating an imbalance in gameplay. Hopefully if the 'tier'/overall gap closes that will mean the CPU won't over rely on high rated players. Just me spit balling especially if there aren't any fundamental changes in offensive and defensive AI.

Badges count towards OVR and they removed a bunch from the game.

Of course, they could have always re-worked the formula to account for that and keep things the same.

No OVR ratings released yet (we usually have some non-rookie leaks by now) surely indicates there's going to be a major difference. That we have the WNBA's Top 5 but not the NBA is certainly telling.

They are doing a top 100 players drop starting tomorrow. I'm sure you'll have a solid breakdown of the overalls as they release them.

It would also help if they released the individual ratings of each player as they drop the overall, but that is probably too large of an ask. [emoji38]

This is the first time they've ever done a Top 100 drop, and this is probably why.
