Even if the servers go down for 2K23, as long as you got your rosters saved, shouldn’t be an issue if you’re playing just offline. It’s really up to you my man.
Yeah going offline is no issue to me since I have everything tied up and saved. I guess the only issue would be if the files ever got corrupted. But yeah my plan is to wait for a sale. I remember 2K24 went on some crazy sales right after it came out, so once I see it for some price that’s too good to pass up I’ll probably get it. Unless meantime certain things just make me feel I need it I can reasses.

I like 23 and have it set up so well enough to where even getting 25 doesn’t guarantee I’ll invest time into it and play it over 23. So I’d like to get it for a low enough price to reflect that casual approach, if I can hold off. Of course, once I do get it, if it in fact does blow away 23 even with how elaborately I have it set up, I’ll obviously completely switch into 25.

Also every year there are those early patches that screw up gameplay so I’m waiting to see if that happens as well. And the create a court bug with doesn’t allow you to select “no color” is apparently happening which is unfortunate.

Re: Graphics comparison: 2K23 vs 2K25

Ya’ll are going to LAUGH. And I mean LAUGH.

I went to play my MyNba season in 2K23 of which I’m on season 3 and near starting the playoffs in a very competitive year, trying to 3 peat with my all time custom roster Bulls.

A member here recently brought up the servers being shut off soon. Of which I thought didn’t affect me. So I decided to check.

Well, when I tried to log into MyNBA offline, it said my save needs an online connection to open the file. I must have accidentally been on one of the other 30 teams I control when I tried to edit the Bulls court and accidentally clicked “yes edit / change to online save” a while back and not realized it.

So I’m now downloading 2K25 as my 2K23 will be useless once the servers shut off as my precious MyNBA save is now going to disappear soon.

To be honest I’m not happy at all. Playing 23 without bugs or in fear of patches ruining gameplay, without having to tweak sliders anymore, was bliss. Now I have to start all over again and wait till the roster sub patch comes in, wait until I can hopefully edit the Bulls floor since currently the game has the glitch where you can’t select “no color.”

But I await playing it to hope the gameplay and graphics make it worth it.

Yeah it’s pointless to play a few more months on my save when I know I’ll eventually lose it. Made worse cause it’s due to some slip of the finger.

At this point I’ll have to get it anyway so might as well start on building 2K25 rosters now.

That black stripe on the Bulls jersey is gonna trigger my OCD something fierce.

It's weird that they added that black band out of the blue. I hope it's not the case with 2K, but some people's hubris won't allow them to correct a mistake they made; instead, they just won't acknowledge it.

But anyway, here is something else that may trigger your OCD: 2001 Shaq's cyberface is different in the edit player screen than it is in-game (not saying he's the only player like that, but I haven't spent too much time with the game).

Oh come on lol. My OCD gonna go berserk with this game. So what face does he have in game? I assume 01 Shaq has the newer cyberface then in game it reverts to his old cyberface? Smh.

It’s beyond me why they’d ADD that stripe to especially the 93-04 jerseys. Did they think they were doing something cute and unique to the Bulls maybe? That’s nice and all, but not when it’s completely inaccurate.

And the no color in key create a floor bug is gonna be a big issue for me if not fixed.

I’m just really hoping Bulls have their warmups when selecting 93-04 jerseys in the modern era. Otherwise I might have to return the game unless gameplay blows me away.

I’m obviously a huge fan of 2K23 and like it a lot more than most. So I am intrigued and excited to see just how much of the 25 hype is real compared to what I’m used to, once this insane file downloads.

I mean look at the skin textures and courts! 24 zero reflections on courts and also players look like chalk. No skin texture. How much worse can it get?

Mind you that’s not compared to a game that replaced it. That’s compared to a game it replaced!

I love tons of things about 2K. But them letting that come into production looking like that made me lose a lot of trust into them. It’s the first game I bought then shelved to go back to a prior game.
I think saying it looked like a ps4 game is pushing it to be honest, but I do agree with you on it being a downgrade.

I didn’t play 2K21, but 2K24 easily clears 2K20 and below. I spent a lot of time in mywnba in 2K24 and I thought the graphics were good there besides the generic faces.

Overall 2K is a great series and I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for one year. A year where they’ve implemented real next gen technology.

2001 Shaq’s cyber face is correct in-game, but he has the same cyber face for every year in the edit player menu.

As far as the black band, I hope the Uniform Errors and Omissions thread takes off because that odd mistake simply needs to get fixed. We have that thread for MLB The Show, and hopefully NBA 2K devs take note of the posts over here. Hopefully.

Sadly I won’t hold my breath. 2K seemed to oddly care enough to put it onto jerseys that never had it before, but now probably won’t even revisit it until some drastic ground up change happens to jerseys where they have to re scan them all (if that ever even happens).

Unfortunately once you click “enable online save” for a MyNBA, you can’t save it offline anymore. It’s stuck as an online save. Unless there’s a workaround?? It really sucks cause I’d hate to lose this save!

Re: Graphics comparison: 2K23 vs 2K25

So I played the game all night. And long story short, I returned it (digitally) for a refund.

I don’t have much bad to say about it. Game looks and plays good. But as I suspected, the classic players with mocap play very, very similarly to 2K23. And having Donovan Mitchell play exactly like himself in real life with his little nuances I don’t even pay close attention to cause I’m not too intensely following the modern game, just kinda doesn’t land for me.

I kinda like the bigger more “life like” size of 2K23 players, aesthetically. And I went back and forth playing 25 and 23 all night in identical games, and honestly the 23 gameplay and smoothness holds up real well to me. And 25’s proplay isn’t as smooth I feel as it could be. Lots of animation stutters etc.

But overall I can’t say I think 23 or 25 looks better. I think they both look really good and hold up with each other. Which is a testament to 23. 23 looks very smoky and hazy which I always liked as it adds an element of atmosphere, but 25’s sharpness also looks really good and makes 23 look.. well, hazy. But 23 just looks so good in its own right that I can’t even say I like 25’s player model lighting better. Maybe very subtly, but subtly.

The big kicker is I’ve heard so much about 25 having all these new sigs. What new sigs???? I see so much stuff was REMOVED! Legends have less sigs now. Sure, every new player now has their own motion style, but a random bench player today having a motion sig when JORDAN, KOBE, WEST, AI, MAGIC, STOCKTON, NASH ETC all had their dribble styles REMOVED (many of which were brand new to 2K23!) just isn’t worth it.

Jordan and Kobe are my favorite players and I have to go from seeing them both have their distinctive dribbles to now generic dribbles? No thanks. But one really cool thing is Kobe’s pull up which was introduced in 2K24. That’s spot on.

So as an MJ fanboy, 2K23 has MORE Jordan sigs as 2K25 took away one of the most important Jordan sigs (dribble style). But 25 assets are still downloaded for me. I’ll probably buy it when it goes on sale for $7 or $15 (likely fairly soon as it did last year) and won’t delete the game so when I do get it, it’ll be ready to go.

Rotations subs not working. No ability to select “no color” when creating courts. Black stripe on the Bulls jersey. I really enjoy 25, but it’s just not compelling enough for me to trash 23 and invest tons of hours building new rosters. It’s just not there yet for me.

Also, it’s INSANE how MyNBA hasn’t changed in 2 years. In fact 2K25 had the ugliest UI I’ve seen in a while, along with the horrid pee yellow theme. And the scroll not going rapid pace down rosters anymore just adds to that annoyance.

Just an FYI, all those sigs (and more) are there, just not where they were in ‘23. No need to really go into detail since you returned the game, but at least we can close the ‘25 chapter [emoji1417]

You mean the dribble styles? Jordan, Kobe, Stockton, Magic, etc.? Where? I mean that genuinely as I went offline and everything and couldn’t find them.

I admit I didn’t even play with Magic but thinking of playing with him without his patented “back to basket” dribble style just feels wrong.

Playing as Ant with finally a decent face scan was fun though, super true to life feel and I’ll eventually pick 25 back up at least for that.
