Looking better than 2K24 is as easy as beating a car with no engine or tires in a drag race, but I agree it def looks better than 24 lol.

On PC this won’t be a problem. But console will likely have to deal with the low-res courts all year.
Damnn I can’t unsee that “printed tile” look now on 25 courts lol. When 2K21 came out, 2K’s first promo vid literally focused and even started with close up images of the details of the court and hardwood. That’s how important they deemed it. The level of reflections and detail were a big point of pride for them. Clearly that must sap tons of resources as once they launched proplay they went in the opposite direction.

Lol. I didn’t think 24 was that bad. Main thing for me was the players skin tone which looked awful on some guys. Overall I could live with it though.

No doubt 25 looks better than 24. I’m surprised how much 23 holds up too, but besides the crowd and Lakers court 25 looks better than 23 by a lot imo.

Yeah courts do all the heavy lifting with 23 and 24 looks like a mobile game. Both suffer from the same ashy / hazy look.

25 is the best looking title this gen.

            Thanks for that comparison ^^

If anyone else has this game I’d highly appreciate you booting up 2K23 (not 24) then 2K25 and report on how the difference in graphics feels!

              ^Same.

A couple of things I wouldn't mind someone posting after picking up 2K25 on PS5:

              1) graphics comparison with 2K23--namely the look of courts and players' skin

              2) can we upload user edited rosters for Play Now/Quick Game using Era teams (like 2K24 but unlike 2K23)?

              Thanks.

Therefore 2K25 gets an artificial boost because it easily crushes 2K24 which looks like a mobile game with the matte wood etc. It also sucks cause all the detailed YouTube graphics comparisons of 25 are vs 24. But fact is, 23 also looks considerably better than 24 in these head to head comparisons. Therefore the only way to truly appreciate the graphics enhancements or even regressions of 25, it’d have to be pitted vs 23, but I’ve yet to see anyone put those two together head to head.

Agreed. People put tons of 2K25 vs. 2K23 comparison screenshots up throughout August. There are others in this very thread.

Courts are more glossy in 23. Players and jerseys are more colorful and true to life in 25. The players especially look better during gameplay than they ever have.

If you need yet another screenshot of a 2K23 court that's more reflective than 2K25, I'm not sure what to tell you. Get the game on PC and install one of the million court and lighting mods that are sure to be released throughout the year, otherwise play a vastly inferior 2K23 just so you can stare at more reflections off the court.

Regardless, fact is comparing 24 to 25 isn’t gonna show us the actual leaps in graphics. Screenshots are one thing but those detailed videos of players and jerseys and side by sides would give a better idea of just how far they may have come. After playing 2K24 for a year thus acclimating to it, of course 25 is gonna looks great to you.

I know it does look great in many ways (courts are iffy at best to me).

But strictly court screenshots I think it’s clear 23 looks better there, so it isn’t out of bounds to want to see more comparisons in other ways.

And trusting “it must look better across the board” is hard to do from a company that put out a game with non reflective wood and downgraded graphics across said board a year ago. *♂️

Not a lot of people look at 2K23 as the standard for current gen graphics or quite share your affinity for reflective floors so to be honest I don’t know if that detailed comparison video is coming anytime soon..

Well, 2K24 is pretty widely considered the worst looking of the current gen, and that’s the game people are acclimated to and comparing to 2K25. So of course 25 will have a walk in the park there.

I’d wager if you showed the pics in this thread of 23 vs 25 courts to regular people with no labels on said pics, the vast majority would pick 23 based on those pics.

That aside, as I don’t have a huge beef with 25’s court reflections (textures look lo fi, crowd too dark, lakers wood too pale and non defined textures, those are my beefs), I just know that comparing it to 2K24 is like choosing to play Bronny James 1v1 instead of LeBron.

I think 25 looks good actually. But I want to see how good. And whether 21, 22, or 23 is the best looking of the current gen before 25 came out (I think 23 looks better than 21 and 22 easily), they all look better than 24, which is the point.

I know everyone hates me for not just jumping on the “it looks so good” bandwagon without visual comparisons to 2K23 or anything pre-24. But I was dogging 24’s graphics a year ago as horrifying, and all of a sudden, whaddaya know, now that 25 came out, all those who didn’t want to admit just how bad 24 looked, are now all over message boards and social media saying how bad 24 looks, “looks like a mobile game,” “I had no idea it looked this bad” clearly it’s seen as the worst looking of the bunch.

Which is the reason I want to see 2K really showcase how good the new graphics are with a real comparison. Not by getting bonus points cause it looks so much better than a game they put out that looked worse than the game it itself replaced.

                              To put it more simply:

I haven’t bought 25 at least yet. So I can’t do a visual full tour comparison yet.

But 2K24 jaded me in trusting that 2K improve graphics every year, because clearly that’s not the case.

And I personally feel like players who gush about 25’s graphics are at least partly doing so because they’re so used to seeing 24. Remember, plenty of members here stated when they booted up 23, it looked much better than 24, which was the game they were playing. Same way members are saying 25 looks much better than 24.

Therefor, speaking for myself, I can’t really trust interpretations of how good 25 looks compared to 21/22/23, if it’s coming from someone who played 24 for a year. Which is why I wish there was a detailed video comparison vs 23 (not just courts but players, jerseys, crowd, etc.)

2k23 might look better on a screen shot. But to me 2K25 plays so much smoother and overall looks more realistic during gameplay. The courts are also plenty reflective when you see the actual game. More than it appears in the screenshots and videos we've seen posted.
