I may have to eat some humble pie and do something I haven't done in ~ 10 years - lower the difficulty. HOF is too much for me at the moment. I can feel the AI slowing down my player/dumbing down my players. I'm getting sucked into disadvantageous animations.

Whoever is in control of the cpu players scoring off the dribble, did an exceptional job. The CPU scoring off the dribble is excellent.
They pull 3’s, step backs, up and under, floaters amongst other shots. They also really attack the rim hard when there is a weak defender.
The cpu really needs to ease up on Trae Young. The way they pick on this dude every game is hilarious.
Couple of times I had to put Trae on the bench just to get some stops.

NBA 2K25 Impressions Thread (XBOX Series X/S, PS5, PC)
Hall of Fame is gonna Hall of Fame. It’s definitely a beast this year.
That difficulty is built for more of a challenge than realism so J. Will and other role players are going to have outings like that. I understand that’s the preferred difficulty for many though.
Superstar has a damn good balance IMO.

If the CPU makes every shot on HOF then that means the shooting for users is also to easy, and a good player can make every shot.
If the HOF cpu spams off ball screens and back door cuts, then that means a user can also.
I believe it’s a cop out to say HOF is unrealistic and that it’s only for a challenge. There have been years that the cpu has shot realistically and not made every shot on HOF.
Shooting is way too easy on lower levels for the user. So imo the other levels are unrealistic. There has never been a 2k that I couldn’t shoot over 50 percent from 3 every game on Superstar. Making every shot ain’t fun at all.
All they need to do is tweak the open shot percentages and HOF would be fine.Psn: Alabamarob

I believe that HOF is the best example of how the game looks when playing against a very good opponent, and is by far the most realistic.

Not so much a cop out, it’s just what the dev (Czar) who programs it has told us on several occasions.
Thats not to say you shouldn’t have expectations or play the game exactly how you want of course- I play HOF too. it’s just one of those cases where we have the ideology on how the game is designed from the horses mouth.
I absolutely agree with your suggestions though

So the underrated shooter being to accurate is still an issue once you playing a human with dam near perfect timing.
Beyond that I agree. I haven’t said nothing about the CPU speed, layup finishing and chase down blocks on hot yet? Ha. That’s how HOF isPsn: Alabamarob

Re: NBA 2K25 Impressions Thread (XBOX Series X/S, PS5, PC)
I have such few gripes with this game but if I had to say one it would be that it seems like my teammates get caught up on screens way more than the cpu does.
My team seems like they get hit by a Mack truck while the cpu is weaving thru my screens like prime Barry Sanders.2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush

Re: NBA 2K25 Impressions Thread (XBOX Series X/S, PS5, PC)
Pro Play is the true star of the show here and it's completely changing the trajectory of the franchise IMO.
This is why (even thought 2K has had many past fumbles) I can never truly give up on the franchise. Every 2-3 years they just bring a feature in that completely changes the landscape of the franchise. Now I often like to go back and play retro 2Ks and what I will say is pro play is what signature jump shots were back in 2K7. It was a franchise defining feature and it completely changed what we expected out of our sports games. This is the exact spot pro play is in right now.
The next big step in my eyes was always going to be a breakthrough in tech that ups the animations quality significantly. Graphics are only going to get marginally better looking to the human eye from here on out. However, animations has always been the thing that lagged behind. With what 2K is doing with pro play. Who knows what this thing will be in 2-5 years man.
And good lord! Once they find a way to capture player movement and convert into high quality animations, the same way they're doing it now...Only with footage from video instead of only setting cameras up and capturing from the arenas... Now you'll have Kobe, Jordan, wilt, bird, magic, and pretty much any retro player you can think of all equipped with animations pulled straight from game footage.
2Ks future is wide open right now for sim gamers.Comment

Re: NBA 2K25 Impressions Thread (XBOX Series X/S, PS5, PC)
I'm really, really fed up of shooting %'s as an offline MyNBA player.
As a player, it's far too easy to drive to the hoop and score in close. But the AI can easily shoot 60%. They almost never miss open jumpshots and very often still hit contested jumpshots. If I play on All-Star it's too easy, if I play on Superstar or HoF I can with with cheese but the game is going to end up 140-130 and it's largely because of the AI's ridiculous shooting.
Instead of making the AI play smarter, they just increase their ability to make shots and it's an awful experience.
I'd honestly give the game a 3/10 at best because I just can't get any enjoyment out of it. The devs must not watch Basketball at all.Comment

That’s why I am pressing the shooting so much. You can’t hide weak defenders anymore. The game is right there. If they could make shooting a premium we would be good. Right now since everyone can shoot, it kinda of limits the need to have a balance lineup.Psn: Alabamarob
