Re: NBA 2K25 Version 2.0 Patch Released Ahead of Season 2
The only thing that comes to mind is "why?". What is this nonsense doing in a game that claims to be a basketball simulation? I don't get it. This must have taken a fair bit of time, resources and manpower to make seeing as it's a full game mode and not a simple minigame or something trivial like that.
Even in a City setting, it has NOTHING TO DO WITH BASKETBALL CULTURE, pardon the caps. It's a Rocket League type game mode. Who is this even for? What adult is going to play this? What diehard basketball fan is going to play this? This garbage is clearly aimed at casual gamers, mostly minors. It's aggravating at best and predatory at worst.
I'm really enjoying the game. As I've said before, it's up there with the GOATs like 2K11. My only gripe with 2K25 so far is the absurd CPU shooting, which can be tuned with sliders. I've had some success countering it with defensive adjustments and strategy, but damn, I don't want every game to feel like Game 7 of the NBA Finals. Sadly, MyGM doesn't allow you to adjust sliders, so I will have to sim every game on MyGM and play games on the sticks on MyNBA instead. Not too big of an issue. What matters is that the core gameplay is the best in many years.
However, I DO have an issue with this. If this is the direction 2K as a franchise is going, regardless of how much I like 2K25, that leaves a lot of room for concern regarding the future of the franchise. This is not okay. We've learnt to accept City as part of the package, but this goes too far, this really crosses a certain line.
They'll continue with it if it makes them money. Not that people didn't already know, but this is inarguable proof that their primary interest is online/money making modes. Offline players have to accept that whatever we get as far as improvements go are essentially going to be a byproduct of what they work on for online modes.
Personally I have no interest in this new mode as I have literally nothing to do with online content for this game, and I am very disappointed in seeing resources go toward it, but I've accepted that as an offline gamer I don't really represent a large enough portion of the whole playerbase and therefore don't really expect anything from them.Comment

Missing barely contested layups and inside ****s now. I just gotta lmao at the people who complained about it being hard to defend shots in the paint, IT WAS NOT. Since the defense already worked how it was supposed to work, they nuked the layup success rate for all finishes. The contests worked fine, the layups made and missed were perfect. Notlw I'm missing layups where the defender doesn't even challenge smh.Comment

I think it's possibile to solve this by changing the sliders.Comment

Ugh- All this chat about modes you’re not going to play
I just want to know if rhythm shooting is actually smoother!

I get the frustration on these weirdo modes that 2k is putting money towards, yes that is def frustrating.
I will say I'm glad they are putting alot of effort (seems like the biggest change I have seen in one season) for their games.
That black tab on the Bulls is gone and I can edit my floors in peace. Thanks 2k. The patch list was long and their adding more uniforms
The game isn't ruined because of this and if you think so, trade in your system for a Dreamcast. Get back to basics to refind your love of gaming.
Sometimes I think we have been given so much through innovation we lose the thought of having fun instead of wanting the game to mirror something we go outside to see.
It will never be 1:1 to actual live ball. the CPU will never mirror actual adjustments, defensive matchups will forever have an issue.
I will say I appreciate them actually listening and reading the comments on things that need to be fixed though. Even though it may take a bit for them to have it be reflected.Comment

Also 2k provides us with sliders for damn near everything.
Specially if you are an offline gamer, use them. Think teams are shooting a little too well? Lower shot success a little bit. Its easier to do that than to enter an online forum and spread negativity.Comment

Re: NBA 2K25 Version 2.0 Patch Released Ahead of Season 2
Are ya'll noticing it's a little bit easier post patch? I had user shooting on pro and everything else on all star but I'm thinking about just trying to play on default all star.
Seems to me like the CPU on all star isn't making as many shots now as well. Or doesn't seem to be attacking with the same intensity if I'm being honest. Could be one game though who knows.
It's almost as if my offense is fine but defense has gotten a lot easier. I could raise the other sliders up to superstar but then that's going to make my offense a lot harder even with pro shooting. It's all kind of a conundrum.
Any recommendations?Last edited by TexasRyan; 10-17-2024, 12:50 PM.Comment
