i mean you could maybe just do a workaround of saving and importing a playbook to a league with a new roster, add the play, save it again and go back to your old league to import it there.Comment

Not this year. In all honesty; we’ve already seen the best of sim basketball.Comment

Great thread Dirk. Good points. It’s been a while.
1. All of the off ball defensive settings (except leave them) work one pass away. So you can deny, play tight, play gap, and play moderate one pass away. Once you get more than one pass away though, the defenders are stuck in a pre determined position you can’t change. It is why the CPU is getting so many corner threes.
2. You can control which defenders bring help by using the stay attached settings. If you tell players to stay attached the help will come from the other defenders who are not in stay attached. I usually put the setting to not stay attached to the other team’s Center so that my Rim Protector will bring help to protect the rim.
3. The defensive rotations are done very well this year. I have gotten a lot of swing the ball three pointers.
4. It is easier to get around off ball screens this year, so if I see the play developing I can prevent the three. Last year I would get sucked into every screen for an open three. Not happening that way this year.
5. I am in the minority, but I think the defense is in a good place this year. If they toned down shooting accuracy, so that every open jump shot is not a make then things would be excellent.
I wish that the the defensive off ball setting gap made that defender stand on the box or elbow. Right now they still stand to close to non shooters beyond the three point line. The whole point of gap is to sag off the defender enough to help out the other guys.Last edited by alabamarob; 09-08-2025, 11:58 AM.Psn: Alabamarob

As for the open shots being guaranteed makes, you can tweak this for the CPU by dropping the CPU Shot Timing slider. For the User it’s not so easy, but increasing Jump Shot Defense Strength (Gather) makes it so that even just being nearby without contesting can shrink the green meter, and then l the (Release) slider gives better and further-reaching shot contest animations while also boosting their negative effect on the green window.
So while I’d prefer some RNG to green timing, specifically on open shots, I think we can still address the issue well with the tools at our disposal.

SmirkinDirk,
Could you give me an overview on how you set up.the CPU teams for better play?
I have edited all the players rated on the Nuggets.
I have updated their play book.
I have updated their play types.
I set them with nuggets freelance, dynamic,.do no repeat.
Yet when I played the other night against them, from memory, Murray had 18 shots, Jokic 10, Westbrook 10 (50% on court), Braun 9(I wasn't trying to guard him).
is there a trick with freelance versus run plays? Another coaching setting? Individual or team tendencies?
The more info the better, Thanks in advance.

So I had a tinker and I think adjusting touches tendency (Jokic 100, Murray 75, Westbrook 75 etc) has worked. I also gave him play initiator.to see how that works out.
Additionally, a YouTube, Race, has his individual tendencies for some stars so I updated his. The most notable was iso as bad defenders.
I playeD half a game and the shot distribution between Jokic, Murray and Westbrook was even and Jokic has more potential assists. Might see if I can add a few more plays to their playbook that have offball actions during postups.Last edited by EatableclownV; 09-14-2025, 06:38 AM.Comment

Alley oops are much more difficult to find space on this year. Not just because of the random button push, but because the weakside defender is constantly jumping those oops.Psn: Alabamarob
