Re: How much money have you spent on this mode?

$0, got past 1 seed in RTP, ruby curry tourney, and beat all the east teams + 1 west division in domination. Spent all my coins on emerald pack, and on my first and only historic pack i got jordan.

    PG: ruby Curry/emerald isaiah thomas
    sg: jordan/emerald affalo
    sf: emerald derozen/granger
    pf: emerald a.davis/aldridge
    c: duncan/ibaka

i spent my coins wisely, and when my contracts expire i sell my players for coins to get packs.
    GT: paniK10 NBA 2k14 (Nets) | Madden 25 (Steelers)
    PG: Curry/ I.Thomas SG: Jordan/Affalo
    SF: Derozen/Granger PF: a.davis/Aldridge
    C: Duncan/Ibaka

I don't care how much disposable income you have... If you spent $100's on this dead mode to get players that are already on the disc, you wasted your money... You would have been better served giving it to a charity and at least you'd have a tax write off....

And I'm not mad at anyone that's spending that type of money...

I'm just mad at the direction videogames are taking...

The mirco-transaction rape is real... The people willing to accept the rape are destroying it for all of us...

But we should all work and have no problem spending countless dollars on top of the $60 MSRP for close to nothing in return, huh?...

It seems like if you mention you spent money on this mode some immature clown will feel the need to attack you for it. I never understand why people are worried about what other people do with there money. If you play any Ultimate/MyTeam mode you will more than likely have to shell out some money. Yes I agree it really sucks and should be free but the cat is out of the bag and there is know going back. I can guarantee you this NBA2K15 will not have a time out glitch, domination reset glitch and farming VC will shell out next to nothing in VC. So enjoy it now fellows cause next year game wont be easy like it was this year to get a stack team for free. At the end of the day my time is more valuable than my money so I have know problem spending a few bucks on this game.

This is very short-sighted. You forgot that all consumer actions set a direction for 2k and every developers policy. If they create $ 300 Million and more digital revenue a year they won't turn away therefrom and will add more and more expensive VC features - broght in surreptitiously by YOUR back door.

I could easily afford every player and tons of packs monthly - but other than the above mentioned meals, cars etc you get no real value as you already bought the game itself. Think twice and look at the billions of $ game industrie can expect from ingame currency next years if more and more people think this way - consumer target groups have a responsibilty.

I really like the concept of collecting (and spent a few bucks as well) but it is flat out ridiculous to spend more $ than the price of the game while perpetuating 2ks greed for more digital revenue. The balance is at a tipping point, for now its possible to have a decent team with earned MT points (even for me - working full time) and earn more MT points than spend for "contracts" on a RTTP match, thats a minimum standard for me.

Re: How much money have you spent on this mode?

I have admittedly spent a decent amount of money on this game, not proud of it but I did. To be honest, I don't have too much to show for it. I spent most of that money trying to complete Lakers collections. I have only fully completed the 86-87 team and the 97-98 team. I wasn't playing this mode when the other individual packs came out so a lot of my money was wasted on historic series packs trying to complete collections.

Unfortunately for us, VC is not going away...it's now a part of 2K's identity. All we can really do is have hope for two things, 1) That 2K listens to consumers and puts out a complete and deep game with lots of features/customization 2) That EA Sports can somehow make Live good enough next year where people actually buy it and play the game

2K has probably lost lots of customers because of this year but so far from what we've seen, it seems as if they don't care. Microtransactions are part of the future going forward for most games. *I might be in the minority here but if this game was complete and feature rich I would be okay with MicroTransactions. However, as many people have pointed out, this game should have been a Free-to-play game due to the amount of VC walls there are.

For me, I will continue to play NBA 2K because the pros outweigh the cons and I have fun doing so. I haven't really played online too much but I will probably begin that soon (I know of all the cheesers). I've tried MyCareer and want to like it just seems boring and repetitive, plus having to score a billion points yourself to win is not fun. MyTeam is the only mode I will play now and I still get enjoyment out of it. I play a lot of single player tourneys and domination some times and surprisingly still have fun. I like collecting the cards although I don't like the way it's set up.

EA Sports only has microtransactions in their LUT mode this year and the packs/rewards are pretty reasonable. I can only hope 2K recognizes this and makes necessary changes...or least gives us a game with $60...

and what does "already on the disc" even mean in this context? Folks aren't buying players for quick games...

As far as the future of gaming...as long as it doesn't get to the point where we HAVE to buy anything to enjoy the game, I'm good.

The thing is I don't see people doing it all over again this year when 15 comes out. Who is going to drop a couple hundred again to chase the same players you already have? The graphics and gameplay won't improve enough to justify it. Only if/when they shut down the servers will it force some people. But im sure as hell not blowing more money on the same players in 2k15.

They need to make the mode have more replay value to it. Honestly, if they were smart they would because it wouldn't be that hard to do.

Add in a few more classic teams/players, have leaderboards for everything, stat tracking/keeping track of your overall online/offline, more offline challenges/modes, and maybe a marketplace or auction house. I would love that and it might make the mode legendary. I'd pay for that

There also needs to be some continuity from year to year. Maybe you could have an option to pay a "franchise fee" of like $25 and be able to pick 12 players to carry over. The stats too could show past season records.

That's a cool idea, I like that. Sound kinda like fantasy basketball's keeper league option. You pick players to keep and start with the next year. I'd be happy with even just a few players.

"Already on the disc" means the players and models you're buying exist on the disc from day one, and you're only buying into some aesthetic about a "card collection". It's a scam, and buying into it only gives the scam legitimacy...

I get what this guy is saying. Idk if I necessarily agree with him but I get his point. You're paying extra money but you're not actually adding any sort of content to the game. There's plenty of DLC that actually adds content so idk how you think he's saying that.

A lot of DLC is actually. Any DLC that's actually already on the disc is no doubt a rip off.

You'd be surprised man, people will buy anything. I wouldn't be surprised to see people dropping a lot of money next year to get the same players. Sometimes people are impulsive, and they don't think logically like that. Impulse buys will definitely be a factor IMO. Also not to mention they will no doubt shut down the servers to force some people who don't want to.

I'm not understanding what seems to be the problem with this thread, your not forced to by VC for Myteam, i've seen players who have worked for their cards and far superior gamers then people who bought it all. There is no disclaimer that states you must buy VC to play the game mode. EA sports does the exact same method, and Gaming as a whole will evolve into monetizing their product. It's here for the long run, it's a sports DLC. There are tons of other game modes to play. If 2k were to charge you to play a quick match online then you would all have a point.
