Hakeem Olajuwon (10 rebounds) and Larry Bird (12 rebounds) did a good job on the boards for me. I had my points of emphasis set to "crash glass" on both ends of the floor.

The shooting sliders are definitely rigged in the CPU's favor, but you can still put up decent percentages if you shoot with the right players in the right spots. I went 6 of 8 from three with Detlef Schrempf (89 three point rating), just because I mostly shot from his red zones on the floor.

You don't have to be perfect, but you will need to be consistently good in your execution. 12 minute quarters means you can't slack off or go into "2K rage" mode and just start jacking up bad shots.
I wasnt really penetrating much. What I was talking about was on the break....I was getting hammered and not getting a foul call. its ridiculous to get that many no-calls.

10 and 12 boards isnt that much in a 48 min game. on the Wilkens challenge, Varejao aways got 15 plus on me....but on the other hand.....I would have 3 or 4 players in double digit rebounds.

As far as the hotspots...thats all I shoot from with Curry and Durant. Curry is admittedly hard to hit consistently with though and sometimes Durant.

Whether you go into rage mode or not doesnt justify why so many wide open shots, particularly from 3 are missed. Whats raging about working to get a wide open shot? There's a problem with that...and its called lack of realism. when the CPU gets ramped up....either you can take it or shut the game off. trust me....I have made runs and every time you get close or take the lead...they go off on some bs.

Of course after beating this challenge once, there is not need to play it again because the rewards have been redeemed....but how many times can one win this challenge say out of 10 times?

looking at your summary...you played a great game. your playing style is different from mine and in order to beat this challenge I have to change my style....the problem is...for some of us...that change is drastic. were you playing them tight on defense?

I was able to win despite shooting just 50% compared to them shooting 53%. I shot 39% from 3s and they shot 38%. I did go 26-30 for 87% from the line.

        This was my defensive strategy:

I found that it was best to just double team off whichever big man is furthest from the basket.

Shaq and Wilt won't be hurting you with their jump shots. So take control of the man that's guarding one of them, and use that defender to go for steals/traps.

If both of the AI's big men are in the paint, though, you'll want to stay at home, so you don't give up an offensive rebound. Only bring the helper over when Shaq/Wilt wander out to the perimeter.

Being extremely physical with Shaq/Wilt whenever they get the ball in deep isn't a bad strategy, either, since both have low-50s free throw ratings.
Using that strategy, Worthy and Kobe each dropped 21 points on me (most of their points came in transition), but everyone else on their team had just 15 points or less.

Finally got around to playing this challenge. It was a really fun game. I kept the pace slow because I ran an 8-man rotation: Onyx Oscar/Onyx Hondo/LBJ/Pink Bird/Emerald AD, with Rondo/Diamond KD/Sapphire DJ from the bench. I was up a little bit after the first and second quarter, about 5. Pulled away in the 3rd to make it almost 20. They came back to about 13 in the 4th, but once I broke the momentum and scored it was smooth sailing for the rest.

I just played my normal game, ran a 4-1 with lots of PnRs and the 5-6 plays from my playbook I like to use. I got to the basket pretty easily, Lebron hat 36, KD 26, Hondo 25. I played neutral aggression on D after reading that people got lots of freethrows against them and switched it to conservative when they went on a short run in the 4th. This resulted in them only shooting 6 free throws. I did nothing special on D, except always putting LBJ or Oscar on Kobe, their biggest scoring threat, hiding Hondo on Worthy. Magic posted up Oscar a few times so I had to put KD on him, no problems afterwards.

This challenge was really fun, I'll probably replay it a few times to test some lineups and new players. Hoping that they put some more, similar challenges like this into the game. I hated the dunkers challenge because the sliders are super strange, whereas they feel completely normal in this challenge. For all the other tough challenges you can't use your normal lineup, so they're pretty pointless. It was less challenging than I thought, as others have mentioned they have 0 spacing so as long as you play tight on Kobe you can just clog the paint. I played normal on-ball D all game, no double teams or anything. The reward seems fair and very generous compared to what other challenges give you.

I am leaving this alone for now....I just had 2 games reset.....one in the 2nd quarter when i was killing them...and the other in a tight game which I was down by 4 with 1:44 left. lost connection to the server both times. shouldve known better playing this near peak traffic time. the challenge is getting easier if I start out doing the things I need to do from the beginning. attacking the paint is a must as you will draw fouls that way. still in transition too many no calls just to see the other team come back down immediately with an And-1. never fails.

I jUST beat the challenge on my second try and wow. I sat down with a strategy n did my best to stick with it. I won 128-113. My strategy was use lamarcus aldridge and kevin mchale against wilt in the post and LA post fade was money 16 pts in the first quarter thenin te second quarter it was pick n roll with kyrie. I had 12 in the second with him. I played so slow walking the ball up the court and playing in the post. I shot 23/25 from ghe free throw line they wwre 15/18. I only had 9 turnovers and they had 20. Their biggest lead was 5 so i was in it the whole time. The first time i pkayed them kobe had 30+ shaq had 20-20 n magic had 26-14. I put kawhi leonard on kobe n he only had 13 and kawhi scored 24 for me to go along with great defense. Shaqhad 9 pts and 8 rebounds im just in shock their leading rebounder was was wilt with 9. Aldridge finished with 32-11-4 and kyrie had 30-6 such a fun game to play.

I posted in here that I got disconnected from my games...well since that post I have had several games disconnect from the XBOX network. found out what it is.....the last Microsoft update has some issues. Immediately after the disconnect the video goes black and you have to reboot the console to get it back. Not all users are experiencing this but a lot are. I just had another game disconnect, fortunately it wasnt the LD2K challenge....

just a heads up to XB1 gamers because you are gonna be super P/Oed if you play this challenge for an hour and have your game reset with 1:44 left in the 4th quarter like mine did.

                  Re: LD2K Challenge

i dont know. i just played the challenge and won by 30. i usually spam the same fist plays because 2K hall of fame is cheesy as **** but this time i ran my swing motion set and got the exact same result. i usually dont make 3s at all when playing HOF but in this set i got a ton of open shots and made 8 as a team. got to the line a lot as well.

                  my line up was:

                  Onyx D Rose
                  Ruby Jordan
                  Onyx Dr J
                  Pink Diamond Bird
                  Sapphire Hakeem

gold LBJ as my 6th man.

for the most part we were proficient. shot 56% as a team. out shot them in the 3. got to the line 25 times and missed 4. 68 points in the paint. had double the steal count. had 9 less turnovers. biggest lead was 36. this was probably one of the easier challenges for me.

I wish they'd make challenges that required you to play actual BASKETBALL instead of this ridiculous garbage.

Perfect defense on every jumpshot (Magic Johnson contested 3 swishes on the regular) means nothing, the only way to win is using players with max dunking and turboing at the CPU.

This isn't fun when you have to win by playing that way.

Also people stating that their team "has no spacing" simply isn't true.

Kobe, Jerry West, Goodrich, and even Magic and Worthy all hit contested 3's in each of the 3 time's I've tried it, while Shaq drained 3 midrange jumpers with Mutombo draped all over him.

And why is it that EVERY fadeaway jumper they take goes in 99.9% of the time no matter who it is or where inside the arc they are? Contests don't seem to work AT ALL on fadeaways.

Dude, several of us have already posted how we beat this challenge easily playing normal basketball. This challenge really didn't have any weird sliders, unlike some others. They have no spacing because their two bigs can't do anything outside of the paint so you can help of them easily.

yeah i gotta be honest, it was the first hof challenge that i beat without needing to spam any PnR plays. and in many ways it was much easier to play that way.

This is definitely a legitimate issue with the game. Right joystick contests don't work at all on fades. So you basically have to jump and contest with the triangle button, which leaves you susceptible to the up and under.

When I know people are going to take a post fade, I just bring someone over with a high steal rating and go for the strip. That's more effective in this game than trying to contest a fadeaway with the on-ball defender.
