It would be OK to use 3 badges, but that's not the only problem. Some badges can not be upgraded. I can't upgrade 3 badges of my Dynamic Kaman. I don't lose the badge but there's no chance to upgrade Screen Outlet and the two rebound badges. Another problem is that some free badge slots won't work. I can't give my Curry card any additional badges and I only can upgrade 2 of the 5 empty slots of my LBJ card. The rest won't work.

It seems if you want to get a badge to gold you would have to apply 3 badges instead of 2 if the card already has it. The upgrade sequence would follow: bronze--->bronze--->silver--->gold

Has anyone tried this? Does it work?

sometimes yes, sometimes no.

I tried 3 screen outlets on valanciunas, it never upgraded to silver

I only tried twice with hustle points on both my big men and it worked...but this is 2k after all...

The badges of all my 13 players are broken in some way. This is BS at his best. Hope they will fix this issue soon or the entire MyTeam mode is useless. I don't care about using 3 badges per slot but I am not tolerating crap like non upgradable Slots and non useable free slots Get your **** together K2! [emoji35]

This entire mess could have been easily avoided if they just made all the cards have the default badges that they're supposed to have according to the main roster file instead of letting people put cheesy badges like lockdown defender and bruiser on people like Stephen Curry who don't deserve them.

Badge customization creates way more problems than it adds to the game.

I upgrade some badges in some players, (upgrading with 2 bronzes to get a silver), and after 2 or 3 badge upgrades / upgrading stopped to any badge, even empty slots, (but my badge was not consumpted. In fear of LY drop-stepper thing and believing that these are the last badges I will ever be able to put to these cards I sold them and got back the same unused accepting the loss of 10%

I am raizing a ticket.

You should write to 2ksupport as well. The more people complain the better.
Has anyone checked if upgraded badges show up in MyTeam this year? This was not the case in 2k15.

i did upgrade pick oultet twice and got silver so bronze--->bronze--->silver--->Gold might work

After upgrading 2-5 badges to gold you will notice that you won't be able to upgrade ANY other badge.

That's absolutely right! But 2k wants to make as much money as possible and badges are a huge factor. At the moment playing MyTeam is like driving a broken car that you can not fix, all players are weaker than in the other modes and you don't have the chance to grade them up properly. I have fully badged out my top players looking like:

Curry 5 Gold 26 Bronze 5 broken free slots
Lebron 3G 32B 3bfs

Nowitzki 3G 10B 2bfs
Gasol 3G 9B 3bfs

Chandler 2G 8B 1bfs
Giannis & Kaman 2G 3B 1bfs
Schröder 2G 1bfs

Besides the 2 badges bronze to silver problem, there is also a limitation of how much badges you can add in total.

This is true, for this reason I SOLD Lebron and Irving as I had applied 4 golds to each and I caould't apply any other. I am quite certain that I wouldn't be able to upgrade them any longer in the future as well.

I rebought them taking the 10% loss + the wasted badges just to have "clean" cards.

I put offensive crasher on B. Lopez and it didn't change on the card, but if I look at it in empty slot option it's silver
