long time since an update from me, so here it is:



this is the lineup that helped me big time, I finally beat ruby league for good after 6 tries and cruised directly into PD league, even collected an amethyst token on the way.

Sadly for me, I went on vacation after advancing and couldn't keep up afterwards (during that time 2k had those gameplay tweaks and my team just didn't feel the same).

I went straight back down into amethyst league and decided to sell all assets afterwards, just before the beast packs hit the market.

Initially I went for KG and Hakeem (great cards !), but decided to sell Hakeem for my fav card from last year, diamond Dr. J., a move that still hurts but I'd do again.

I'm working the auction house hard to bring Hakeem back, but this is my current lineup and it starts to feel right again

I've been trying to snag a relatively cheap Hakeem for the last few nigjts to no avail. Put in a cheeky bid at 535k for one with a diamond contract and a diamond speed shoe but got outbid overnight.

I hope he's worth it when I finally get him, he sure looks and sounds worthy of the wait!

When I was deciding who to do for my second Diamond Historic Collection reward, I was trying to choose between Artis Gilmore and Alonzo Mourning. I was a huge Mourning fan when I was a kid, but looking at their strengths and weaknesses, I went with Gilmore. No regrets at all, but I had always been curious about Zo. I had the Heat set done except the three Rubies, and since I've been running a full Ruby squad most of the time these days and since those Rubies were three of my favorite players, I decided to lock the Heat collection for Zo.

My word, he's neck and neck with Gilmore as the best Diamond center in the game. He's a little more fluid than Artis, though Artis feels more athletic. I really could not have gone wrong either way with these two.

Then late last night, I had 30k MT and saw a Ruby Elvin Hayes right at 30k. It was the last card I needed for the Rockets set, and I rationalized to myself "well, for 30k, I can buy the Hayes and lock in the set for Drexler and get two cards closer to Kobe for that 30k."

Not a fan of the Drexler. That release is stupid. Great athleticism and dunk packages, but I really have no use for a guy who can only slash.

For one, his animations are great. He has the best, easiest, quickest hook animation in the game (Wilt has the same one), so his hook is pretty much automatic once you get it down. His athleticism is also very good for his size. He has the height, mass, strength and speed to lock down any other center in the game. His tendencies are also great. He gets a ton of boards, blocks shots as well or better than Mutombo, and you can use him both in the pick and roll game and as a post player. You can run your offense through him or you can just have him be there for defense and he's just as effective.

Robinson is great, but he misses a LOT of dunks. At least one per game and usually multiple. He's very disappointing overall. Mutombo is good, but he's one-dimensional. Walton is okay, but he's weak and he's got a small player model. He's nowhere near as effective as Gilmore.

Squad right now and definitely enjoying the KG and Towns front court. These guys sprint to the basket off a rebound and no one can keep up with them. I'm waiting for Giannis to drop to Lebrons price so I can swap them out. I like LeBron but he's for sure getting a better card so I want to get as much MT back before he really drops in price.

I swapped Embiid for Towns and even though Towns doesn't have HOF badges, his release and speed were enough for me to make the switch.

Robinson is great, but he misses a LOT of dunks. At least one per game and usually multiple. He's very disappointing overall. Mutombo is good, but he's one-dimensional. Walton is okay, but he's weak and he's got a small player model. He's nowhere near as effective as Gilmore.

I love Robinson. He's the best overall defender I've used this year (GP is the best perimeter defender, but Robinson defends inside and out at an elite level thanks to that 88 lat quickness and extremely high IQ numbers). He cleans the boards and forces a TON of misses from other bigs inside.

However, I agree with you that he's not a guy to run your offense through. I've had some 20 point, 10 rebound explosions with him in the higher MTO leagues, but it's always when he's playing a weak/undersized center he can bully. His post fade animations are trash and he doesn't have any post HOF badges to boost him.

If you lock that set in for Robinson and want him to be the focal point of your offense, which I can understand considering the price tag, you might be disappointed. If you play to his considerable strengths as a defender, rebounder, rim protector, screen setter (HOF Brick Wall) and occasional shot maker (he has a smooth jumper), you'll love him.

Fair enough. I actually just started running him at the 4 with Hakeem at the 5, and the early returns are good. I love having twin towers out there, especially when they're as versatile as those two. I have the advantage inside on offense, defense and rebounding every single game, as I'm sure you do. My eyes light up if I see someone like Durant, Porzingis or Giannis at the 4. It's hilarious to lock down people's stretch 4s with D Rob and then dunk on them on every half court possession.

I do have Amy Dragic, Francis and Kevin Johnson. My wing depth is okay, but not great. (Amy Allen, Ruby Cooper, Ruby Joe Johnson, Ruby Ingram).

In the higher leagues on MTO his lack of size and strength will be exploited by smart opponents. I'd try to post him up all day with Oscar, Payton, Magic or Elgin. Then again, not a lot of people try to post up their guards even when they should.
