After sweeping the Sapphire league I'm now 2-1 in the Ruby League. Took an L to some guy in a close game after I had a meltdown in the last minute lol. I wasn't expecting the difficulty bump so I couldn't hit shots and that threw off my entire offense. So I'm doing a little house cleaning and slowly rebuilding my team, position by position. My gold and silver cards are starting to become a liability and it's time for me to round out my team with more Emeralds and Sapphires.

First off I took Rudy Gay out of my lineup. Terrible card. Can't hit a shot and is shooting 31 percent from three. I put Porzingis in that backup 4 spot and put Gobert back at the 5.

Got rid of my Tristan Thompson and upgraded my starting 5 spot to the Emerald Dwight. I'm already seeing the difference.

Next I'm looking to upgrade the backup 2 spot. That Brandon Rush card was amazing in the earlier leagues but now that 3s aren't dropping at the same rate, he's sort of useless now. I'm eyeing that Sapphire Wade card or maybe even the Sapphire JR Smith.

Stephen Curry is probably next to go. I love having Steph Curry on my squad. His card is a game changer but not this nerfed Sapphire crap version lol. I'm going to wait until they release a beastly Amethyst/Diamond version because the Sapphire version is really only good for spot up shooting.

Another killer is that MyCareer MyCareer doesn't give you those free connection cards like last year. Those gold cards really helped me build MyTeam up last year. Sucks. Anyway, I'm probably going to be grinding out some Domination/Challenges and stacking some MT to improve my squad in the meantime.
Theoretically, you will get used to the tighter timing requirement and start hitting again.

But I wonder is Off Consistency matters more as difficulty dials up. That's one thing that lower cards will lack in, comoaratively, even if they have very high shooting ratings.

On the topic of Gay...drew him for a Blacktop game last night. Gave him like 4 wide wide open threes, got near full meter, and he bricked them all. So...F Rudy Gay.

most emeralds are only 1000-2000 MT on the AH, shouldn't be too hard to upgrade

I strongly recommend giving emerald Sam Perkins a look as a cheap stretch 4 and running pick and pop 3s, that card is my secret weapon in every 2K, plus he can defend and score in the post.

He's still on my main squad with my diamonds and amethysts, lol. Cheap too.

Sleepy was a sentimental favorite of mine during his stint on the Sonics.

But if you have a bunch of Diamonds and Amethysts, I imagine you have Rewards Horry? I see almost zero reason to play Perkins over Horry. But I guess maybe you just can't get used to Horry's super-quick release?

Horry is great, but Perkins also has a post game so when they start to switch on the pick and pop, just take them down low and get easy buckets. Horry is only really a spot up shooter, although he is faster etc, while Perk can do both.

Plus none of these youngins know who Perkins is so you automatically get 1 or 2 surprise 3s per game after subbing him in, lol.

Maybe Horry's animations in the post are not as good, but ratings-wise, there's little difference and Horry is arguably better.

              Compared to Horry, Perkins is...

              - Same rating for Shot Close, Standing Layup, and Post Control
              - +5 for Contact Dunk but -20 for Standing Dunk
              - +4 Draw Foul and +3 Free Throw
              - +5 for Post Hook, +4 Post Fade
              - -27 Ball Control
              - +9 Strength
              - -1" in Height

On the whole, for Ratings, it seems pretty close. So, to me, the athleticism of Horry and really quick release would push me toward Horry. What would really cinch Horry is that he has un-purchaseable Hall of Fame Catch and Shoot and Clutch Performer, as well as 2 more open badge slots.

That makes sense. Whereas, with Horry, everyone will instantly stay tight on him and smother him, on-ball.

Not trying to argue with you...just give you some devil's advocacy in case a re-examination of them leads you to higher production out of your 4 spot.

Cheers, yeah it might just be my comfort with him as I think he has the best shooting animation in the game plus he just "feels" stronger than Horry due to his body type.

His "wrist snap" on his shot release is really easily defined whereas Horry and others have a very smooth motion where the release point isn't obvious.

Well, he is +9 in Strength, which is considerable. And while not notably strong for a PF, is respectable and is a Shoe away from being good-strong.

Yeah, I get that. With Horry, as it was with Curry last year, you can't time off a visual cue. Maybe if you have really great reflexes, but I don't and to me, the timing is just muscle memory of the duration.

What do you guys think of this lineup

                    Pg hardway

                    Sg Glen rice

                    Sf larry johnson

                    Pf Patrick ewing

                    C Shaq?

Basically every player except rice gets duo

Re: Lineup Roll call...what your squads looking like?!!?!

I have been messing around with a bunch of the recently added dynamic duos and have had some fun experimenting. The starting lineup I am using right now is hella fun. Everybody can shoot 1-4 and all 5 guys are super athletic. My bench is also pure clamps 1-3.

                      West / Michael Ray
                      Penny / Moncrief
                      Pierce / Pippen
                      Walker / Johnson
                      Shaq / Ewing

I will admit it was weird taking some key guys out of my rotation like King and Hill but I am at the point now where I am just throwing together different lineups constantly to keep things interesting.

                        Francis/Kobe/Lebron/Bosh/Wallace
                        Curry/Thompson/Mashburn/Duncan/Robinson
                        Porzingas/Wall/Cousins

                        96 OVR

I've been experimenting with a ton of different line ups and OVR ratings, I definitely find the lower your rating the easier your match up generally speaking (user skill not team rating)

I wish these Duos were released at the same time as the cards (money trap) I'm dying for that Shaq and Glen Rice now as Penny and Kemba are 2 of my favourites but no way I can afford either now that I'm not buying VC

Haha amazing what a little luck can do for you.

So after playing my 6th match in the Ruby league I had about 11,000 VC and I decided to go open some league packs. I don't know if I got lucky or what but somehow first pull was a Sapphire Moments Cousins and in my second pack I pulled the Sapphire Moments Durant. Now after I pulled that KD he was apparently my 100th card so I also got the Sapphire Rewards Horry as well. WOW!

I beat the Ruby league 7-1 and got the 20 pack reward. Ironically I pulled a ton of Emerald/Gold cards that I have no use for now haha. I pulled AD, Cousins, Deandre Jordan and Drummond.

I've virtually eliminated all the golds and silvers from my rotation and my lineup is now

                          Curry/Jay Williams
                          Klay/PG13
                          Kawhi/Durant
                          Green/Horry
                          Cousins/Porzingis

I decided to put Durant on the bench for a scoring punch until I can save up enough MT to get the Sapphire Moments Wade. The Durant card is great off the bench but man that Sapphire Cousins card is a beast in the paint! My first game with him and I dropped 20 points.

The next cards I'm targeting are the Sapphire Moments Wade and Kawhi.

Current lineup, I highly recommend Emerald Mutombo to anyone without a Ruby backup C. He comes with defensive anchor which is a must this year, and has HOF Rim Protector which his Ruby card does not. Plus he only costs ~2000mt. He is basically budget Ben Wallace in that he has good D but can only dunk on the other end.

Line up in sig, thinking about replacing Ruby chandler for a center who can shoot, think I might pick up Ruby cousins and add limitless range and deep range deadeye to him too lol. I never lose to these off ball defenders sticking with they center having the CPU guard me but i really want to run 5 man out and make these scrubs quit in 1st quarter.
