Going diamond Lebron for amethyst Lebron due to badges and shooting. Not sure what playbook to run yet. Looking for a diamond point. Thinking payton but wasn't sure. Kidd is a good defensive distributing point that might work for half the price. Any suggestions?

I've had both Kidd and Payton...and it's Payton by a mile. All those defensive HOF badges make a massive difference when you're in the higher leagues in MTO. Plus his shot is much smoother than Kidd's and he can dunk, which Kidd never does. He's one of my top 5 favorite cards in the game.

That would be ideal but just going to take more of a grind. It kind of came down to Payton or Lebron and Lebron poses a cheese factor with his versatility. Back before playing myteam, my friends and I would do fantasy draft leagues in 2k and I always loved Payton with mj. Might get kids at a temporary spot but I know the defense and animations favor Gary. Not a big fan of kidd's shot. You think emerald penny with his Shaq duo boost would work?

I was a big fan of Kidd overall, but with outside shooting being nerfed and his difficult release, I think it neuters that part of his game. He's fantastic defensively, but nobody is on Payton's level on the perimeter.

As for Penny, I was a big fan of the Diamond but found his defense a little lacking. Even with the DD boost, Emerald Penny just won't cut it on defense, especially since almost everyone has a killer offensive PG now. You just can't afford to have a bad defender at point in MTO anymore.

What's going on with shooting, I've been trolling in Sapphire league so I haven't seen any difference. Is shooting nerfed again?

Pretty damn nerfed. Ruby league and above, any open catch & shoot 3 is now either a D- or a green release. It's weird. My diamond shoe Wes Unseld used to be lights out from the corner, now he almost always bricks them.

As long as I'm not playing someone in a lower league (like when their ruby KD makes contested 3's in the face of my HOF defender), I actually like this update. It makes the game more dunk-centric, which is a lot of fun. Unless there's a freaking Yao off-balling in the paint...

Marjanovic is just there to stop Yao. He's the 4th heaviest player in the game behind Shaq, Yao and Muresan and has A+ rebounding, A+ Post Defense, and even a midrange in the 80's. Cave troll

Boban has the midrange game, okay post-fade, and is less glacially slow, but Muresan is a better budget skyscraper, in terms of post strength. He's 10 pound heavier but, more importantly, he's +9 Strength. Boban's "only" at 85. Boban also has really horrendous P&R DIQ.

The only tweaks with my 2 reserve spots is Penny can replace Iverson against a bigger PG. Also Rodman and Kemp are interchangeable depending on if I need more fire power or lock down.

Why not start GP instead of AI? That would balance out your squads more, in terms of defense (and offense).

Definitely GP or bust. DI Kidd is an extremely good, classic-type PG. He can shoot, but his shot is so slow, you have to be WIDE open. Both have really nice handles and animations and can penetrate through dribbling craftiness. But GP has more useful shot and also has his post-up game. Defensively,

Kidd is very good at staying in front of people, and has good size/strength, but his Shot Contest is actually only 84, so you really need to give him a +9 shoe to defend post-up guards. And, even then, he's still -3 Compared to GP, after the boost. And with both of them, if you're concerned about guard post-ups from someone like Oscar or Magic, you maybe should be trying to get up their Low Post DIQ up with a shoe.

Appreciate the feedback. Pretty much seconds my thoughts on the situation and I think it just makes sense for the starting 5. Plus I plan on getting a cheaper diamond wingman to compliment

I've used both. Ruby Hakeem was great when he came out, but now he's a bit underwhelming. Amy KAT plays above his attributes and is a fantastic stretch big. Hakeem is definitely the better on-ball defender and has better post animations, but everything else goes to KAT. Plus, Amy KAT can hold 23 badges. I don't even think Ruby Hakeem can hold 10.
