I have been telling myself I might enjoy it more when I stop hoarding MT and stuff to sepp, liquidate and then splash out with a good squad but I think state of play is fundamentally maddening this year, with the unbalanced drive mechanics.

I have been thinking about starting up a little group to coordinate friendlies and maybe have a few tournaments with interesting limitations. No strict code of conduct but have it at least understood that the idea is to find people to play online as an alternative to SM cheesefest. So we all would hopefully at least strive to limit cheese. Try to play "good" games, rather than try to win at all costs.

Count me in, brother. It would be nice to play around with our teams in a competitive, yet fun environment. Im not a 'gawd' by any stretch but I just want to play some normal-IQ ball with my team i've worked hard to get.

Hell, if the online myleague is good, id LOVE to get in a season or two with 10-12 decent people that just want to have fun. Was in a 2k12 league and it was great before the contract issues derailed the offseason in year 3

Just played a guy that did that 5-Out Warriors (?) play all game. Would get the 5-out going, then sprint into me with Pete Maravich or Ronaldo Blackman and do a dunk every possession. If you played for the drive he'd just stop on a dime (because only the defensive player obeys the laws of momentum) and shoot a midranger, if you tried to sag off from 3 he'd shoot a 3 with Pete, and every other time he'd blow by me for a layup or windmill dunk (and if I jumped I'd get a foul).

Can't bring any help defense because people are standing in shooter slots waiting for an open shot.

Literally unguardable because onball defense is nonexistant vs superstar players. Its pretty hard to believe that they playtested MyTeam with good cards seeing how horrible the gameplay is. There's no skillgap in the mode, just abuse broken mechanics

I'm having a little more fun in MyTeam recently...I'll be honest.

Not sure if they adjusted anything...but it seems like I'm able to defend a little more than I used to. Maybe I'm just better on defense after playing the game for a little?

And I'm not using anything close to a stacked squad.

I'm actually using the furthest thing from one...my lineup is mostly BRONZE players. A guy with like every Amethyst card just rage quit on me after a 13-0 to start the 2nd quarter.

My starting lineup is Rondo (Saph) - Kennard(Bronze) - Kukoc (Saph) - Frye (Silver) - and Zizic (Bronze).

I bring Steve Novak(Gold) off the bench...but the rest are all Bronze.

Occasionally, a somewhat intelligent cheeser with an overpowered squad gets me...but these crappy cheesers who can't even get an open shot without simply turbo-ing to the rim or shooting contested 3's with overpowered Curry or Lou Williams cards doesn't have an answer when you play a little defense.

Have to be smart and use the right stick. Also helps to realize there is a slight delay on the 2K servers...so anticipation is key if you want to get block and steals.

Hell, I even created a cheese squad with Ruby Giannis/Diamond Beal/Ruby PG13/Ruby Aaron Gordon, and Diamon Whiteside

Man, EVERYONE has 90+ 3s in all-star difficulty. Including Centers. Even in 2k15 patch 3 it was not that bad as at least centers didn't shoot 3s

Ilgauskas has 91 3s for god shake

Resold, got back to playnow online, however it is really repetitive

Knowing how arcadey and cheesy the online gameplay is this year, I have literally only played one game of Supermax in 2K18, and that was just to check off that particular challenge goal.

I had previously made it all the way to the first seed of road to the playoffs in 2K14, 2K15, 2K16, and 2K17.

But this year, it's just not worth all that sweat and frustration given how OP driving, dunking, and snatchback jumpers are.
