Re: 2k17 Roster Making Brainstorm Session - Ps4, Xbox, Pc
I was thinking that instead of having just 2 finals teams per roster we can have all of the last 15 years, or even more because of classic team slots. It would be be awesome to have the best of the best face off. What do you guys think, I love the going down idea as well.Comment

2015 Warriors- current slot
2015 Cavs- current
2014 Spurs- current
2014 Heat- current
2013 Heat- 2013 heat
2013 Spurs- 97-98 Spurs
2012 Heat- 2006 heat
2012 Thunder- current
But then there's a 2011 Heat and no more heat slots so that's when you start on a new roster:
2011 Heat- 2013 Heat
2011 Mavs- current
2010 Lakers- current
2010 Celtics- current
2009 Lakers- 2001 Lakers
2009 Magic- current
2008 Lakers- 97-98 Lakers
2008 Celtics- 2008 celtics
2007 Cavs- 2007 Cavs
2007 Spurs- current
2006 Heat- 2006 heat
2006 Mavs- 2003 Mavs
2005 Spurs- 97-98 Spurs
2005 Pistons- current
And then you'll run out of lakers teams that don't have short shorts!Comment

Or maybe the user could just trade the players to the right team if he wanted that. I really like the idea of all these finals teams facing off JaiveerComment

Re: 2k17 Roster Making Brainstorm Session - Ps4, Xbox, Pc
How do you guys think the coach ratings are decided?
These are what you can edit for head coaches
Offense
Defense
Potential
Contracts
Trading
Scouting
Training
Business
Above are all grade ratings from F to A+ I reckon only offense and defense, maybe potential play a part ON court so I was thinking, I know we can't get actual faces, BUT if we were able to figure out a system, a way of rating coaches, by some stat like idk ORTG and DRTG, we could potentially be able to implement HOW the coach of a particular team of that particular year coaches, for example Byron Scott coaches the Lakers, but if we were to look at the 2009 Lakers, and determine a rating for Phil Jackson that year we could edit Byron Scott's ratings to give it a bit more realism I suppose
You can also edit these
Team Style
Style 1, 2, 3
-Athleticism
-Intangibles
-Marketability
-Shooting post
-Shooting mid
-Shooting three
-Shot creation
-Size
-Toughness
-Transition
-Two way
Offense vs Defense
-Balanced
-Leans Defense
-Heavily Defense
-Heavily Offense
-Leans Offense
Guards vs Forwards
-Balanced
-Slightly to forwards
-Heavily to forwards
-Heavily to guards
-Slightly to guards
Inside vs Outside
-Balanced
-More outside
-Everything outside
-Everything inside
-More inside
Keep in mind though can only edit those through MyLeague (not sure bout MyGM) so wouldn't work for quick play
I hope all that makes sense lmaoLast edited by Coachjosh21; 05-03-2016, 11:50 AM.Comment

Re: 2k17 Roster Making Brainstorm Session - Ps4, Xbox, Pc
Right now, I have this huge excel file of fictional draft classes I talked about in that other thread. However, my databases there are severly lacking. I have about 150 of 1700 something players rookie numbers and assists percentage. Also, I have a tendencies tab and a attributes tab for the work of Sonicmage. Those are just started and don't have anything in them. I was wondering if someone was willing to help me fill those databases.
Also, about the classes. I was thinking if I should put the players on to tiers. So, let's say a center would be a great offensive rebounder, average defensive rebounder and an elite shot blocker. Now from the players that are in that tier, I randomize the guy whose stats to use.
If you didn't notice, I'd be willing to jump to work on the fictional draft class bases. I'd prefer that there were atleast two of us, but I could see myself working with multiple people on this. The shots and appearances are not my thing tho.

Added Janmagn (fictional draft class creator) to credits. Added myself to credits as the "Evil Producer". It's a Truehoop tv reference if you never seen it.
You guys have me checking OS way too much right now! But I'm excited to see this come together! Let me know if there's any more thoughts on how we can go about making past NBA finals rosters for 2k16. I think this will be our first project.Last edited by Coachjosh21; 05-03-2016, 05:07 PM.Comment

Re: 2k17 Roster Making Brainstorm Session - Ps4, Xbox, Pc
This is a good idea to put multiple years on the same roster. But I would only want to use the appropriate team slots. For example I don't want to use a wizards slot for a Spurs team when we run out of spurs slots. We could still put a few years on the same roster though
2015 Warriors- current slot
2015 Cavs- current
2014 Spurs- current
2014 Heat- current
2013 Heat- 2013 heat
2013 Spurs- 97-98 Spurs
2012 Heat- 2006 heat
2012 Thunder- current
But then there's a 2011 Heat and no more heat slots so that's when you start on a new roster:
2011 Heat- 2013 Heat
2011 Mavs- current
2010 Lakers- current
2010 Celtics- current
2009 Lakers- 2001 Lakers
2009 Magic- current
2008 Lakers- 97-98 Lakers
2008 Celtics- 2008 celtics
2007 Cavs- 2007 Cavs
2007 Spurs- current
2006 Heat- 2006 heat
2006 Mavs- 2003 Mavs
2005 Spurs- 97-98 Spurs
2005 Pistons- current
And then you'll run out of lakers teams that don't have short shorts!
I actually think if there is a couple of teams that have qualified like 2-3 straight times we can choose the best team from those years. Or we can just make a roster with the available spots and make a new one on the next roster.Comment

Re: 2k17 Roster Making Brainstorm Session - Ps4, Xbox, Pc
Yeah I like your idea better about putting them on the same roster. Just means we may need to create caps for people like Lebron or Duncan. We need a good CAP guy or it won't look goodComment

Using Javieer's idea of not using every team if they made the finals for multiple years, here are the teams we can create and the slots we could use for teams. We can go back pretty far just using current teams and classic teams already made by 2k.

Meanwhile there's also people working on a spreadsheet that will be a reference for all roster makers. If anyone has this already, please speak up! We are going to pour a lot of hours into making it and it will save everyone time and will result in a quicker turnaround for future rosters!Last edited by Coachjosh21; 05-03-2016, 07:13 PM.Comment

Re: 2k17 Roster Making Brainstorm Session - Ps4, Xbox, Pc
After thinking about it for a few minutes, I think small projects like this are good for 2k16. Gives people time to enjoy the rosters before moving on to 2k17. Whenever 2k17 comes out, we just stop making 2k16 rosters.
The big goal for 2k17 should be to provide season rosters with corresponding draft classes starting with the most recent season. With a release and more forum traffic, hopefully we can recruit even more help. Then it seems we'll have contributors for fictional draft classes as well. Using classic rosters, fictional draft makers can make realistic player models and probably at a faster rate. Then we benefit by having a ton of fictional drafts! Win-win!Last edited by Coachjosh21; 05-03-2016, 07:35 PM.Comment

Re: 2k17 Roster Making Brainstorm Session - Ps4, Xbox, Pc
For sure, I'm open to switching things around. I think this is a good first project to do now on 2k16. We can just go one team at a time. However many we get done is fine, but the more playable teams, the better!
