Unlike most teams, Virginia hasn't had any run ins with injuries this year, but they just haven't been playing the level of basketball we all know that they're capable of.

Carson Jones Jr., Virginia's freshman big man, described their play in a very heated interview as "f***ing pathetic". "We were gonna be a top 3 team coming into the year, but there ain't no hope of that happening anymore." Virginia is currently ranked 11th in the nation after coming into the season ranked as the 3rd best team in the nation.

Don't get me wrong, Virginia hasn't played badly this year, they're still 19 and 4. I think the players and fans are all just a little frustrated they didn't turn into the powerhouse team that everyone was expecting them to be.
I'm happy UMD is up there. Is there anyone I should watch out for on that team?

When you think of Maryland, the player that comes to mind is definetly David Mashburn. David is 3rd in the nation in steals per game, a defensive player of the year candidate and is definetly a very tough and physical player.

Although David is a great defender, his offensive game is still very raw and unpolished. But he's done a lot for maryland this year and he's definetly the player that comes to mind.

        March 1st:

-Connecticut, Boston College, Duke and Kansas all continue to prove why they will most likely be the 1st seeds in the tournament. They all have teams that are packed with star talent and stat-sheet stuffing players, and continue to look forward to a deep tournament run.

-William & Mary guard Antonio Swift is known for his hot-headed personality (lets not forget his fight with Michigan State C Jordan Banks earlier this season) but his latest comment has definetly not gone unheard. "[Benson] is an overrated offensive player. Defending him is as easy as defending any other guard in the nation" he said about Boston College's guard Johnny Benson. Benson replied in a twitter post saying "Lol didn't i drop 30+ on your team last time we played? Or maybe I'm just thinking of all the other teams I've dropped 30+ on..."

          March 9th:

New players come and go every year, so with the season winding down, lets take a look at the top 5 high school recruits.

          1. Jason White
          Prospect Grade: 98
          Stars: 5
High School: Centennial High School (Los Angeles, California)
          Committed: California
          Position: C
Scouting Report: White is definitely an old-school big man, unlike any we've seen in a long time. He's not about finesse or pretty moves and has no shooting ability, but he makes up for it with athleticism and amazing playmaking ability for a big man. His strength, post moves and rebounding are unlike any we've seen in a long time.

          2. Jarred Witt
          Prospect Grade: 98
          Stars: 5
High School: Mission Hills (San Marcos, California)
          Committed: UCLA
          Position: SF
Scouting Report: Witt is an amazing athlete who throws down dunks sometimes that don't even look humanly possible. He's an amazing lockdown defender and is an extremely good scorer around the basket. On the other hand, don't expect him to be shooting threes or knocking down free throws. He's a below average shooter for a wing player and he needs to put on some muscle before he can be a really dominant player.

          3. Lamar Phillips
          Prospect Grade: 96
          Stars: 5
High School: North Lawndale High School (Chicago, Illinois)
          Committed: North Carolina
          Position: PG
Scouting Report: Unless Butler's PG Bud Bolton decides to stay another year in school, Lamar will probably be the fastest play in the country when he enters the league. He has an insane vertical that he uses to dunk over defenders and finish at the basket. His defensive game is decent, but still needs a lot of work. His shooting ability is definitely a problem as a point guard and his playmaking ability isn't bad, but it isn't on par with the average point guard.

          4. Kyle Gordon
          Prospect Grade: 96
          Stars: 5
High School: Shakopee High School (Shakopee, Minnesota)
          Committed: Arizona
          Position: SF
Scouting Report: Kyle is a very pure scorerer around the basket, and uses speed to get there, but his defense is where he hangs his hat. An outstanding defensive player who has a knack for getting steals and swatting shots, he will definetly be one of the better defenders in the league next season.

          5. Jack Napier
          Prospect Grade: 95
          Stars: 5
High School: Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nevada)
          Position: PF
Scouting Report: Jack reminds me a lot of the Portland Trail Blazer PF Meyers Leonard in the sense that he's an offensive minded big man with an amazing midrange jumpshot. He can definitely knock down the three ball too and go to work on defenders in the post. His vertical is surprisingly good for a white big man and he can throw down some pretty impressive dunks for his size. One of his major problems though is the blatant fact that he's just a weak dude. He doesn't have much muscle or defensive game and he struggles to make smart passes out of double teams. None the less, he's still a great offensive player who has a great inside-outside game.

I'll include a picture of the bracket along with a typed out version so you can see the scores and stuff. I'll probably post the First round, second round and Sweet 16 tomorrow.

On saturday it's gonna get a little busy with the Elite 8, Final 4, Championship and some pre draft stuff like a big board and combine stats (because 2k's "draft combine" is atrocious). I'll drop the download sometime saturday evening or night.

He's currently a sophomore and he's made it pretty clear that hes not leaving school early. He's in there until his senior year.
