Team stories (as of the end of 2024/25 regular season, about to start playoffs)...

The Boston Celtics are now back to their former glory, with a stacked team of players that are all in their prime. The cpu filled this team out really nicely, with very even positional spread across the whole team.

SF-Jarell Benson, 88ovr, 22yrs

With players like Nerlens Noel (84) and Wendell Carter Jr (83) off the bench.
(All ratings take into account chemistry/morale boosts/decreases. Boston's chemistry is soaring at 96% right now).

The Celtics won 71 games this season, with Dennis Smith earning MVP honours. Smith, drafted #4 by the Celtics in 2017 has emerged into a two-way superstar for the Celtics. The Boston roster is rich with two-way players, and that is perhaps what makes them so powerful.

But they're not the only powerhouse in the East.

The Charlotte Hornets ended the regular season on a 10-game win streak to win 69 games, on the heals of Zion Williamson's emergence into superstardom. The 6th year combo-forward averaged 19.8 pts on 56.1% FG after averaging 15.8ppg last season in the same amount of minutes. To go along with his 19.8 pts, he also averaged 9.5 rebs, 2.7 asts, 1.1 stls, and 1.4 blks. Considered one of the most athletic players in the league, pundits are expecting another jump for the 25 year old next season.

The Hornets pair Zion with 27 year old do-it-all forward Jonathan Isaac, who is considered the most versatile defender since Draymond Green. Isaac is elite at defending pick&rolls, rendering the strength of many teams useless. Isaac averaged 12.6 pts (46.4%), 6.1 rebs, 3.9 asts, 1.3 stls and 1.3 blocks, along with making about 1 three a game on 40.2%.

Running along with these guys is 25 yr old SG Romeo Langoford, who was originally drafted by Charlotte back in 2019 at #5, 5 spots before they drafted Zion Williamson in the same year. Langford is a dynamo on both sides of the floor, with a rounded statline of 18.5/4.1/4.1/1.6/0.4 with extremely healthy percentages of 50.6/40.4/90.4, becoming a member of the prestigious 50/40/90 club. Unfortunately, Langford sprained his ankle pretty severely right at the end of the regular season and will be out for 4-6 weeks, painfully reducing Hornets playoff chances.

Zubac is also on the Hornets.

Outside of Boston winning 71 games and and Hornets winning 69, there were no other super records, with the next best being the Memphis' Sounds season record of 58 wins. This is the team i'm controlling. I have no idea how they won that many games, i was trying to tank, lol. This is only their 2nd season. There are no players above 84 on the roster, but i guess depth goes a long way?

The Philadelphia 76ers have an interesting team. This is the team that i was controlling for the first 5 or so years until i decided to switch over to growing an expansion team. Here's how they look right now.
PG: De'Aaron Fox, 86, 27 yrs
SG: Dejounte Miller, 86, 24 yrs
SF: Ben Simmons, 86, 28 yrs
PF: Mortiz Wagner, 76, 26 yrs
C: Joel Embiid, 88, 31 yrs
That's a contender. A Dynasty of sorts. Only won 52 games this season though. But that's probably because Simmons only played 33 games and Fox only 66. Expect them to make an impact in the playoffs.

A dynasty worth keeping an eye on is the Detroit Pistons. They might have the best big 3 in the league: Luke Doncic, Marvin Bagley III and Jaka Moore. It is considered one of the best forward lines in NBA history, however their backcourt is sub-par. Here's their full lineup.
PG: Kemba Walker, 74ovr (usually rated higher but is banged up at the moment)
SG: Alec Burks, 74ovr
SF: Luka Doncic, 93ovr
PF: Marvin Bagley III, 89 ovr (usually rated higher but is banged up at the moment)
C: Jaka Moore, 90ovr.
With RHJ (80ovr) coming in off the bench. Outside of Rondae there's not much depth. If they build on top of this next season they will be a contender. However they're locked up with 34 yr old Kemba for the next 3 years on $20mil per year, so they might need a bit of a miracle.

What about in the West? The power has definitely shifted over to the East in recent years.

Some Western teams had injury and chemistry problems this year. Seattle is #2 in the standings behind Memphis, who won 55 games behind an aging 36 year old Russell Westbrrok and all-star and Shaquille O'Neal's son Shareef O'Neal.

The team to watch out for in the West though is the Los Angeles Clippers. They only won 43 games for some reason, most likely due to their superstar center DeAndre Ayton missing 20 games due to an ankle problem. But they still should've won more than that. Ayton will be out for the next 1-2 weeks so they will need to hang on tight in the 1st round of the playoffs. Here's their team:

SG: Jimmy Butler, 78ovr, 35yrs
SF: Michael Porter, 84ovr, 26yrs
PF: Thon Maker, 84ovr, 28-40yrs (who knows he's actual age. The game says 28)
C: DeAndre Ayton, 90ovr, 26 yrs (with Jusuf Nurkic backing him up who is 81 ovr at 30 yrs old)

LaMelo burned out quickly and fell out of the league (i.e. the game retired him).

Lonzo's career has been great. Over his 8 yr career he's averaged 14.9 pts, 6.1 rebs, 8.7 asts, 1.9 stls, 0.6 blks, 3.0 to's. Shooting 46.2%fg, 39.1% 3pt, 73.0% from FT.

His best season was in 2022/23 when he averaged 19p/6r/10a/2.6s, as you may be able to see in the pic below. Those are Jason Kidd numbers. He was 1st team all-NBA that season, which is his only time doing so. He has made the 2nd all-NBA team once too though, and the 3rd team twice. He also made the 1st all-defense team in 2023. He's a 6-time allstar, which is impressive for an 8 year pro. Clearly a key player in the league.

His career high in assists is 21, and 9 for steals, and 37 for points.

What system are on you on? (I have 2K17 for PC, but I recently picked up an Xbox One for Destiny 2 as me and my buds want to run there).

And did you alter any of the progression/regression settings?

Did you alter any of the training sliders for the teams or leave them at default? (In the first few months of 2K17's release, me and a number of other players found that training sliders needed to be slightly adjusted for all teams, otherwise the league would develop too many elite three-point shooters and skew the scoring way high.)

Finally, what do the average game scores look like? Is there a Grit and Grind squad like the old Grizzlies, or is everyone running 100+ points a night offenses?

Ah, good question. I was going to post this but forgot. I believe i started with schnaidt1's MyLeague settings for the first few years and then altered it as i went. I concluded that there weren't enough injuries, players changing teams, or movement in player progression/regression for my tastes.

The Seattle Supersonics have pulled off the upset 4-2 win against the 71-win Boston Celtics in the 2025 Finals!

That's Westbrook's 2nd ring and he will likely retire now you would think. He averaged 12.6p, 5.7r, 7.7a, 1.1s, on 36.8% as a 36 yr old in 23 playoff games.

Shareef O'Neal won finals MVP. Shaq must be beaming with pride. Shareef averaged 19.0p, 11.5r, 1.1a, 0.7s, 2.7b in 23 games in the playoffs and you've got to imagine that the 26 yr old will use this as a springboard into superstardom. That's his 2nd ring. Shareef was drafted #12 by OKC in 2019.

Also contributing for the Sonics was Caris LeVert, averaging 11.5 pts in 23.6 mins in 17 playoff games. And Derrick Jones Jr, who averaged 10.8pts, 5.8r, 2.7a, 1.8s, 1.5b on 61.7% in 23 games. Also had contributions from Hughie Daniels (a product of FDU#2!), the 26 yr old averaged 10.7pts and 3.0 asts in 26.7 mins in the playoffs.

The newly acquired 31 yr old Josh Richardson may have been the difference maker for the Sonics, who added yet even more wing depth for them. He chipped in 10.7 pts in 24 mins for the playoffs too.

The man in the middle for the Sonics was Lithuanian center Dainius Vinicius (a product of FDU#2 too!) who played 28.2 mins per game, with averages of 10.8 pts, 6.9 rebs and 1.3 blks in the playoffs. 5 year pro Elijah Okoye (a product of FDU#1) also helped with center duties with his defensive presence with 23.2 mins off the bench.

Dennis Smith and the Celtics have gotta be burning after missing the opportunity to deliver a dynasty in Boston, but that whole roster is still in their prime and they may well be back next year too.

Very interesting! The progression/regression settings are much higher than I expected. Based off the earlier tests we did in October/November of last year, bumping up the progression/regression settings and leaving training sliders alone vastly skewed the league into unrealistic territory within 5 seasons.

Your MyLeague seems to indicate this has been tuned on the backend -- which is what the devs said they would do, but we (to my knowledge) never got confirmation this was done.

Follow up questions:

When did you begin your MyLeague?

What impact have the patches, if any, made to your sliders?

And -- if you're satisfied with your sliders -- what are they (along with base difficulty level)?

I just want to gather up the information as a reference point for the future, so don't feel obligated to answer any of this. Thanks for the previous answers, though.

As in, gameplay sliders? The game feels less fun to me now than when i first played the game. Can't put my finger on it, i just don't enjoy playing against the computer. Don't like the way they move/respond.

Much thanks! Since your MyLeague is fairly recent, it seems that the progression/regression has been addressed. That should allow for more freedom in determining how the league looks going forward.

2025 Offseason Primer

--LeBron James finally retires at 40 years old!
He played 22 years in the league (!!), and averaged 23.4pts, 7.7rebs, 7.3asts, 1.8stls, 0.9blks, 3.0 to's, 48.6%fg, 34.6%3pt, 73.8%ft over those 1718 games.
1718 games is #1 in NBA history all-time, above Robert Parish and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
LeBron also passed Kareem for #1 on the all-time points list, with 40,219 points. He is the first player in NBA history to eclipse 40k pts in a career. (sidenote: Durant passed Kobe for #4 now too!).
LeBron is also #9 in 3pointers made all-time. He's #4 in FTM all-time. #15 in rebounds all-time. #2 in assists all-time (wow NOBODY will ever get passed Stockton's mark). #2 in steals all-time. #37 in blocks all-time. And #1 in minutes all-time. Also #1 in turnovers haha.

Aaaaand everybody just got re-signed.
Except Dragan Bender (85ovr, 27yo), who signed with Toronto (he was with PHX before).
And Bol Bol (Manute Bol's son) signed with Detroit after being with Seattle. But he had a season ending ACL injury last season and probably wont be the same. (he was solid before the injury though! Rated in low 80's. Averaged 12pts, 8rebs, and 2 blks sorta numbers.

--Looking at the Player Progression screen, i probably need to bring the regression meter back a touch. Keep seeing 26-27-28 yr olds get nurfed a bit too much. Or maybe i could at least bring Progression up a bit to balance it out. But i do like that players in their early 30's start to decline a bit - but not a lot - and then they go to hell around 35. I think that's how it should be and i don't want to mess with that. Maybe the occassional 26-27-28 yr old nerf is part of the process. Will think about it.

I once won the 2026 championship with Lonzo and LaMelo ball on the pistons. I also got the pistons to more championships than the lakers and celtics. I like long rebuilds lol
