KU in their alternate crimson uniforms would take on the West Virginia Mountaineers in a Big 12 battle. West Virginia is led by 6'3 freshman PG Ellis Gordon. Gordon specializes in defense and runs the West Virginia press very well. He has a long wingspan and quick reflexes, so it makes it very hard to pass around. KU on the other hand likes to slow you down and work the offense through their 2 posts, Damion Miller, and Kadeem Zeller.
West Virginia would get the upper hand early with the press being too much for Kansas to handle. Ellis Gordon would have 3 steals in the first half alone, and deflect a handful of other passes. After the break KU would settle down and run their offense through Zeller and the high post. Zeller did a good job of creating for himself and finding open teammates all over the floor, and KU would come back to win the game 87-79.
Ellis Gordon would finish with 17 points, 5 assists, and 5 steals. The #12 freshman in the nation could be shooting up draft boards with that performance.
Kadeem Zeller would end with a game high 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists.
Damion Miller the bruiser down low finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds.
