Was just adding plays per play type to test and came across something. Not that everyone will like this as sometimes less is more.

But…

We can now add 60 plays per playbook this year instead of capped at 50.

This and the now 5-play selection pages that show up when calling plays manually (positional play calling)

The 5 per page thing kind of messed up the way I entered them in. I always had let’s say basic PNR’s 1st 4, the Chicago action PNR’s on page 2 with next 4, then the miscellaneous ones. Makes easy for users to know what’s on each page. Just need to redo in increments of 5 now. Ugh! Lol Don’t get me wrong I love the 5 per page again!

Yes me too! I had most play types in multiples of four as well. I had a whole method to my madness on how I added plays especially pick and roll plays. But I’m not mad. Hopefully they add more slots for series plays in the future.

Nice. I'm hoping they can increase the max to 100 plays per team soon. Anything that helps with diversity of play calling and sets is welcomed, IMO.

Funny thing is, after testing plays and jotting plays down for each team I’ve always had 60-70 plays per each team and the toughest part was/is cutting it down to 50. I just happened to stumble across this as I was adding plays to test for example 50 mid range plays I liked and lost count and looked up and it was at 53. I was like is this a bug? Then got to 60 max.

I agree with you, the more the better for cpu AI diversity.

The thing I think this can help most with though is for mynba players as team rosters change. I can now add in high post, guard post, etc just to have in where I felt like I couldn’t at 50. So that way if you pick up players with those play types there are plays for them.

I’m not sure most users will like 60 plays and fumbling through to call a play but I’ll love it. I’m sure most probably use auto anyways. Either way nice addition if people want it & like you said more variety for CPU AI which is most important imo.

I do have some good news, but I’ll wait to share. But it appears someone read the 1st few pages of this thread as far as missing actions! I thought it got overlooked, but they were mixed into the new era plays! :-) Just tested a few and they were smooth! Need more testing to see if the other ones are usable! But luckily plenty of options so all we need are at least 2 per action that work and are smooth! Luckily I can just add them now instead of eliminating plays with the 60 plays per team!

Side note: people are gonna hate inputting plays in this year! There are so many plays to scroll through it took me forever to add them all in. Had to have taken me a day to do. Well worth it, but too bad I can’t just share them with everyone & users can just upload them through 2k share.

Vann- Are you working with the ATD team? I’ve been watching their discord and the team is making incredible progress on the PS5 and Xbox Series X rosters.

It would be great to add your playbooks as icing on the cake. Thanks for all that you do!

Tons of modern nba offensive actions in the 02 plays! I wasn’t expecting there to be. So I’ll definitely need to add to modern team books with a lot of these.

The mid range, cutters, guard post, & high post have all been tested and have some great actions & plays! I love all the new backscreen cutter plays! The cpu AI executes them well too! Quite a few at least! This will be awesome to get buckets from cuts now with those players who only score on cuts how they do irl. The cutter plays have always been bad with only a handful of good ones which were usually out of flex actions. These will be huge this year for AI gameplay!

I’ve had rough drafts done for awhile now for modern teams. Some teams have 60 plays some at 50. Now I’m just testing in game. What I’ve noticed some plays that work great in practice plays mode are too long in game as they don’t get setup til 16 seconds on clock so I have eliminated a few of those even though they were great and worked well in practice but that’s with them running them in half court with 24 seconds on the clock. So if I see any weird things like that I just get rid of & replace.

Also, I’ve got rid of all running PNR’s that have the screener stopping them starting to set pick again. There are only 3-4 in the game that don’t do this.

Now I’m just waiting for pre season and season to start to give all teams 60 and make appropriate changes. For teams who’s personnel and coaches didn’t change it’s pretty easy to go off last year. But the new coaches and teams with new personnel I still need to see.

Only bad news though is the 100 plays they added last year in update are not in the game this year. Not sure why? There was great stuff they added last year that I tested but never changed last year as I left the game but had notes on for teams. Actions we didn’t have but they gave us but now gone again.

So, I will scout teams to get to the final drafts. Big project & im coaching in season right now too so haven’t had as much time lately.
