Will we still have to press start to load the menu?

Why would I ever tell my xbox360 to load up a game that I'm not interested in playing? Are there people out there who do this?

It takes >30 seconds to get to the screen where I can press start, and then another 30 seconds to load the menu. Takes a few seconds to load up my franchise, and then another 30 seconds until tipoff once I'm at my calendar.

I wish load times could be reduced, and I really wish that I didn't need to press a button to continue on to the next step of the loading process. If it were automated I could at least walk away from the tv for a couple minutes and then come back ready to play.

It's the kind of thing that doesn't bother you the first time you play the game, but if you play it every day for sixth months, it sure starts to get to you!

Wow, if you can't sit through 20 seconds of loading, (so you don't have to later, which usually you will) then you've got some serious patience issues.

I think this could be more of Microsoft's doing since VC is making it for the lowest common denominator which is the turd pack. Honestly, it's not that bad. I loved how the joint in NBA Live 06 came about for the first time. It's amazing how it just basically boots up to it after the visual eye candy. Honestly, I'd love for VC to do that also. Of course, I'd rather they wait until they sit down and examine the perfect type of scenario to bring it up for.

How would you want them to boot up the game? Personally, I LOVED the highlights of the NBA players to the new beats in 2K. It was off the chain seeing some of those moves you never got to see due to the over saturation of dunks on ESPN. I loved seeing VC do he 360 layup. I loved watching Iverson cross someone over. I loved feeling the beat of the song everytime it started up. Honestly though, what type of suggestions have been dropped for the game's startup? Give them some so they could start working on it.

        p.s.-Patience is a virtue.......

Wow, sounds like you're too accepting of mediocrity.

Having to press a button to finish loading is a real flaw. Whether it bothers you a little or not at all is up to you, but I'm still waiting for somebody to tell me how it could be viewed as a "feature." Whoever made that design decision was asleep at the wheel. If I tell my xbox to load a game, I want to play it! So load it up and don't ask me permission to finish loading!

"Too accepting of mediocrity". There isn't a single video game made that doesn't have you press start and having it that way is not in any way mediocrity.

WTF? Ok, people have officially gone mental. It seems they are complaining about everything now.

Well, we obviously can't criticize any new 2k8 content so we gotta keep ourselves busy...

Seems like it. I think that people are viewing the good stuff in the "competition" of 2K and feeling the need to complain. I have no problem with the startup. Like I said, I'd love to go back to the old clips. Make me remember those classic plays and all like Tyrus on the Celtics, Baron Davis on the Jazz, Lebron on the Pistons,.......

i also loved those highlights. But when watching them i can't help but wonder if the moves could be duplicated in-game. Otherwise watching it is somewhat of a tease. Ya smell me?

There is no game that features automated loading of the main menu? Would you be willing to bet on it?

Can somebody give me a reason why having to press a button to load the main menu is preferable to not having to press a button?

It's not that it's preferable..but it's just not that serious. How hard is it to press a button? What are you going to miss? People seem to complain about EVERY little thing now. What next, will you get mad because you have to put the disc in the trey?

I really don't care. If you want to find a game where you don't have to press start then be my guest but in every game I've played since the genesis and nintendo you've had to press start. Taking one second to press the button is not that big of a deal at all. What I want to know is how having to press start is somehow mediocrity.

Because whenever you make a choice between two options (in this case having to press start and not having to press start) and you pick the least intelligent one, you have embraced mediocrity.

It is obviously more intelligent to have the menus load on their own, because 100% of people who launch the game want to play it. It is irrational to think that there exists a certain segment of the 2k7 playing population who would prefer the menus not load at all, and that they need to be protected by this "start safeguard."

Whoever you are that made this choice, I know you think you're being noble in protecting those who may not want the menus to load, but those people don't exist you f'ing moron!
