    Re: NBA 2k10 Wishlist

I don't want anything significant changed or modified, I just want the ability to control every team I want to in franchise/dynasty mode.

If I want to control all 30 teams, that's my business, I just want the ability to do so.

Outlet passes are still way to accurate. Not talking about inbound passes because those do sail out of bounds when you try and launch it down the court, I'm talking about passes while the ball is in play.

I don't see how Shaq can't toss it to the other side of the court while he's inbounding the ball, but as soon as he steps inbounds he can.

Nba Live 09 introduced breakaway rims that snap down on a hard dunk, I would like to see that added next year. And add animations where the players are talking to the refs about a disputed call...which could lead to Techs..

i'm really getting tired of the new under the basket layup animation.Mostly any guy on the court can hit this 95% of the time even if you have 3 defenders on him

            Re: NBA 2k10 Wishlist

Defense in the paint needs to be WAY more physical. In general, CPU defenders in the paint need to be more active and strong.

There needs to be more bodying up. Too many times a CPU big man will flash to the paint and stand there for a second with a defender guarding him who doesn't lay a body on him. From that point, if he gets the ball, its an easy two points when the shot/layup could have been made way tougher if the defender just put a body on him. I think this is a HUGE issue that hasn't been talked about enough.

Off-Ball fouls when players run off screens. Supposedly if you press the L-trigger while playing off-ball defense it will grab the player/try to put a body on him. This button either works terribly slow or does nothing. Make this work and there go your off-ball fouls right there. Fouls called for moving screens. There is a slider for off-ball fouls but it is absolutely cosmetic as it does nothing. Fix this 2k. This is important!

Offensive 3 second calls when a player stands in the paint for more than, gasp--3 seconds!!

2k has the best b-ball game in town IMO, but they are A LONG way off from making this a true sim.

              Per Rashidi

On the draft pick note, 2K really needs to add a feature where you have the option of starting association with the real draft pick allocations, or the option to keep it balanced (all teams with a first/second per year). That would add much more depth to association as some teams have multiple draft picks to deal away in certain years. Hopefully that'll make it in next year.

                Re: NBA 2k10 Wishlist

Okay, I made some rating changes to the top 10 scorers from the previous association, with the exception of Dwyane Wade, Dirk Nowitzki, and Kevin Durant. Let's see if anything changed.

Top 10 PPG (Previous test in parenthasize)
                K. Durant 30.4 (26.0)
                K. Bryant 29.2 (27.1)
                L. James 28.0 (29.4)
                M. Redd 25.4 (n/a)
                A. Iverson 25.2 (27.6)
                R. Gay 25.1 (26.8)
                D. Nowitzki 25.0 (25.2)
                C. Anthony 24.4 (25.6)
                J. Crawford 24.2 (n/a)
                J. Johnson 23.7 (27.4)

I actually just discovered something very discouraging. Martin, Wade, and McGrady are absent, but not because their scoring dropped, but because they "didn't qualify". However each player STARTED 82 games so I fail to see how that could be.

That would explain CP3 being absent from assist/steal leaderboards, because players don't even suffer injuries in association now. The most they ever miss is a month, and most of them are injuries that they play through anyway. Other than season ending injuries, I have seen ONE injury where the player missed more than 35 days.

97 players started all 82 games. That's completely unacceptable. I don't think that many even play 82 games in real life, that's over three per team.

                Basketball-Reference games leaders

BBRef pretty much confirms that. Only 44 players in the NBA played all 82 games. It's funny that 2k keeps making all these adjustments to it's player roles and team chemistry, you're never going to have a variance in PT and roles if players are never getting hurt, which is how bench players get big minutes in the first place. It would have been great if they actually figured that out, I dunno, three years ago... instead, it's a key issue in the company's most ambitious title, and one that could have easily been corrected had they listened to any of the experts in the gaming community.

EDIT: Okay, I raised the Injury Severity slider from 50 to 75 and ran another sim.

I avoided going to league leaders and checked each invididual team, here are the 20 ppg scorers.

                L. James 28.2 ppg (82g)
                D. Wade 28.0 ppg (82g)
                K. Bryant 27.9 ppg (82g)
                K. Durant 27.5 ppg (82g)
                D. Nowitzki 26.2 ppg (82g)
                K. Martin 26.2 ppg (76g)
                T. McGrady 25.1 ppg (72g)
                J. Johnson 24.9 ppg (82g)
                A. Iverson 24.7 ppg (82g)
                B. Davis 23.8 ppg (82g)
                M. Ginobili 23.8 ppg (82g)
                M. Redd 23.6 ppg (82g)
                S. Jackson 23.5 ppg (82g)
                C. Paul 23.2 ppg (82g)
                D. Williams 23.2 ppg (82g)
                C. Anthony 23.1 ppg (82g)
                J. Crawford 23.1 ppg (82g)
                R. Gay 22.2 ppg (82g)
                V. Carter 21.5 ppg (75g)
                C. Billups 21.5 ppg (82g)
                R. Allen 21.1 ppg (76g)
                J. Richardson 20.9 ppg (82g)
                P. Pierce 20.7 ppg (76g)
                A. Iguodala 20.4 ppg (82g)
                C. Maggette 20.4 ppg (82g)
                C. Bosh 20.2 ppg (82g)

Only 26 players scored 20 ppg, down from 31.

I turned the injury slider all the way up to 99 (for User and CPU mind you). "Only" 85 players started 82 games this time, which I guess constitutes "improvement". This time 33 players averaged 20 ppg though.

The only thing I can think of is lowering the durability ratings for the entire league, since it is obvious that the slider has little to no effect in an association, and likely only influences games you play.

EDIT II: I lowered the durability ratings for all the 20 ppg scorers to 50 and ran another simulation.

Here were the injuries that knocked players out

Kevin Garnett: 17 days (seperated shoulder)
Vince Carter: 35 days (broken hand)
Gilbert Arenas: 33 days (broken toe)
Jamal Crawford: 22 days (strained achilles)

                Everyone else played 82 games.

The game is officially broken. All we can do is pester 2K Sports about a patch that will fix this. We need significant injuries. What's the point of "progressive fatigue" if it never takes it's toll?

Hey SimBaller - you really need to add these 2 things to 2k10...do you check this thread for ways to improve the game?

I have been playing 2k basketball for years and I love it, but there are 2 things that need to be added. These are problems that have plagued the series for years, yet they have not been addressed. They simply MUST be added to 2k10.

                  1. Please make it so you can hold down the bumper to keep the pass icons up for as long as you want. As of now you have to hit the bumper button OVER AND OVER to keep bringing up the icons after every pass. Live 09 has added this feature and it's essential that you add it to 2k10. I exclusively use icon passing and icon lead passing - it's the only way I pass because it's the only way to make sure the ball gets to the intended player. If you added this ability it would make the passing much quicker and more responsive.

                  2. Please make it so players can catch the ball and pass the ball without stopping or slowing their steps. For years now this has been a problem - as the player catches or passes the ball he will slow down or stop running...this is especially annoying on fast breaks when you are trying to move up the court quickly and your players keep slowing down after catching or passing. If you watch a real fast break, players continue moving at full speed as they catch and pass - they catch the ball in stride and will smoothly transition to dribbling or they will pass it off quickly and continue running at full speed. Please just do a motion-capture session of players passing and catching on the move at full speed (on fast breaks and in half court) and incorporate it into the game.

                    fluent Isomotion for starters.

default out the box gameplay based directly on NBA stats. None of this 2 week toying with sliders stuff.

I don't know if this has been mentioned or not, but I think that in next years game, u should have more control over how your team plays when u simulate. I love looking at the metric stats and stuff, but if I see that my star player isn't getting enough touches, I want to be able to do something about it. What do you think?

                          Make player roles matter.

                          - When it says bench warmer I expect that player to not play AT ALL

-Let us set player roles in the main player edit screen and have them stick for the whole year.

                          - Allow us to controll ALL teams in assotiation

                          - Make CPU teams play some zone

                          - Record stats like assists, rebounds, and blocks properly

please bring back the ability to force the offensive player to pick up their dribble with good d anywhere on the court. I have not seen this as much as I did in 2k8. Guys who try to continuously force their way into the paint should be forced to do this or have the ball knocked away.

punish turbo mashers more than you do currently. when guys do this with no thought other than bulldozing to the hole give that player some charging calls or create more loose ball opportunities. turboing all the time should reduce their fatigue even more resulting in their dunk, layup, and other shot ratings going down.

add a downward swipe or hack to the defense's move list to help combat the interior play. It seems like all we have now is the poke away steal, hands up , or block. It would be nice to swipe down at the ball on command.

                            Faster play execution

Lower interior scoring percentages by scrubs

fix that hop step dribble that actually turns into a travel once you lose your dribble and try to do it. You should either (a) have the ref call a travel since your player puts it on the floor again after he lost his dribble or (b) create a hop step move that doesn't have the player putting the ball on the floor.

                            more to come
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. One thing that 2k may do to their detriment sometimes is try to please everyone. This results in them listening to the wrong people(primarily those that cried about missing too many inside shots). Imo this game is vastly superior to 2k8 from an a.i. , animation, and gameplay standpoint. They need to add more contact animations for inside the paint to lower those percentages or force offensive players into a tough shot animation similar to live 2004/2005.

After watching suns/nuggets 2day I was reminded that in the nba, shots in the paint are hard to make as people get bumped off their path or forced to adjust their shots all the time. Even Shaq was having a hard time tonight up close..In other words, defender proximity should affect shots more than they do.

I think they should have a "Real FG%" setting similar to "Real FT %" That can be turned on or off. That % could be reduced by a certain amount when defenders or other bodies are within a certain range. The amount it drops could depend on their def awareness.
                              Ex: Teammate = -2-3% , def awareness(DA) 50-59=-4%, DA 60-69= -5%, DA 70-79= -6%, da 80-89=-7%, DA 90-99=-8%
Now if a shooter's off awareness is greater than defender's DA, the defender won't affect the shot as much and his affect will be reduced. Say a shooter with 89 OA is defended by a DA of 50-59, his effect on the shot drops from 4% to 1%(=+1% for each category shooter is above defender-3 categories in this case) Imo to get the most sim results you have to take some things away from the user.

My one wish, without having played the game yet, is that they add simulation & arcade modes. Folks that want to shoot 70%, for example, can play on arcade, and those that are looking for more realism can play on sim.

And this goes for all the arcadey stuff remaining in the game. The exagerated dribbling, insane alley-oops, over the top block attempt animations, ect. Contain that stuff to arcade mode.

And things like off the ball fouls, flagrants, technical fouls, ect., could be contained to sim mode. Give the sim gamer the opportunity to experience a more sim experience without disburbing the casuals or the bottom line.
