        Re: NBA 2K9: A Cheeser's worst nightmare

The online rank level is on All-Star and that's why everyone keeps making a high percentage of their shots! It is what it is people. Until they change it, we gotta play on freaking All-Star, which is BS to me or play unrank player matches. I really don't care about rank, so whenever I can't get a HOF game, I play rank games on All-Star.

Cheesers are loving this level and it's take patience and court awareness to stop a good cheeser. I play a combination of Off/On ball defense. The best defensive teams are great b/c they play good help defense. Kobe was shutdown by the Celtics b/c they played great team defense. The AI doesn't always do what you want, so you have to do it for yourself. You got extremely high FG% for all players in the game, but it's the same for both players, so you can take advantage too. I attempt to play on the ball at first and I check to see what scoring strategy the guy is trying to use. If it's the lakers and the player is a Kobe cheeser, then you are in for a full game of Kobe abusing. Kobe is almost impossible to stop with a regular team IMO. I only use the Celtics, Rockets or Spurs against Kobe. Ron, Shane, and Bowen do great jobs against him 1 on 1. KG is great at protecting the paint. I play on-ball D until I get beat. Once I get beat then I immediately switch to a big to provide extra help. I have found shading to be very helpful in stopping Kobe. I also switch to a 2-3 zone to crowd the paint if the guy likes to drive to the hoop all the time. You have to be quick when the defense breaks down. The thing that makes me the most upset is when you have a guy surrounded and he still makes the BS hook shot. I'm normally down a few points at halftime, but by the 4th qtr I'm up.

Don't be ashamed to cheese them right back. I leak on players who attempt excessive 3ptrs. I get the board and I got an easy bucket. Be ready to hit the open man! The offensive AI is so smart, so you have to be able to hit the open guy when he's open. You will see the player move to the open area and you have to hit him immediately.
Use the feature to pass out of shot attempts. Draw the defender and hit the open guy. If you know ur team well, you should always hit the open shot b/c it's on All-Star.

It's not fun using strategy, knowing your team, tendencies and plays, as well as putting together a winning gameplan in your head to acheive a goal?

Your missing the point....So nevermind.....My point is there isn't a strategy or gameplan to use against a cheeser, the only way to beat a cheeser is to cheese him/her back..and i don't have that in me...

I agree. I believe many others who constantly say they are "sim" feel the same way.

It's not about winning at all costs but the experience throughout.

I agree to an extent. However, if you guys want to stop the LeBron/Kobe cheesers all you need to do is call 2-3 zone and double team whoever has the ball ...just keep an eye on the perimeter. By calling the 2-3 zone you clog up the lane so much they just turn the ball over or get blocked most of the time.

As for the Steve Nash 3pt assault cheesers... I have no idea...

This game plays like a mixture of 2k7 and 2k8.

It's cool if you play sim with another sim player. But now that the layups and shots in traffic are much more successful then they were in 2k8 people will just go to the hole blindly with Kobe/Bron/Melo etc and just shoot knowing they'll either get fouled or hit a high percentage of their shots. In 2k8 they didn't call fouls, but you couldn't just go to the hole and score as easy as 2k9.

That's why you have to know who you're playing.

If the person passes to an post player with deep enough position its a gauaranteed 2 points in 2k9 and you know im right.... Even Tyson Chandler has a post game that looks like Kareem's the way he sinks those hook shots.
                                Yes sir.
Not only that lag gives an advantage to the offensive player. Offline I might talk trash to someone who is afraid to play my best 'one on one' player, 'one on one'. Online I don't expect it. Even a little lag is like guarding a wide receiver in the rain. Every move they make leaves you in danger of sliping out of control. This is why I only play on the ball when its to my benifit. That is wisdom.
